For what little it's worth, apparently, grocery store suppliers are still running as per normal. The problem is that orders have increased about 30x from stores.

So the shortages you are seeing in the US is entirely due to panic shopping and no other reason. There are no disruptions in the supply chain except that it can't keep up with people panic shopping.

In MI: My husband went to Meijer to get some potatoes and mushrooms for me for dinner last night and he was so mad. He said it was just wiped out. Tried to buy meat, got the last two packages of ground chuck in the store. No chicken, not even hot dogs. Had to drive around to a few different stores and still couldn't get what he needed. Yet, on a positive note, the Costco by our house has zero lines outside, everyone is friendly, the store is stocked with TP and paper products. I hope that the panic buying starts to abate soon. We stocked up with non-perishables back in February, this was just last minute stuff for dinner.

Are people trying to escape from New York City yet?
We should be seeing that soon.
Then the authorities will forced to act against it.

New York City and L A are going to dramatically reduce the amount of people they test so these numbers will drop. That will probably give Americans a false sense of security at a time when we need people to slow the spread , and be afraid to overload the health care system .

How do you think the authorities will act against it? Do you see Martial law in the US future. I do...

There is much more to this than a "China flu" and America will never return to normal.

Is that the cost without icu bed and ventilator ? I’m guessing if this virus damages your body in several ways after care will also be needed .

Just a small quote from the text :

Over the next several days, Askini saw her temperature spike and drop dangerously, and she developed a cough that gurgled because of all the liquid in her lungs. After two more trips to the ER that week, Askini was given a final test on the seventh day of her illness, and once doctors helped manage her flu and pneumonia symptoms, they again sent her home to recover. She waited another three days for a lab to process her test, and at last she had a diagnosis: COVID-19.

A few days later, Askini got the bills for her testing and treatment: $34,927.43. “I was pretty sticker-shocked,” she says. “I personally don’t know anybody who has that kind of money.”

So no, don't think she used a bed or ventilator at all.

Yup just the tests and outpatient ER Visits.

I wouldn't like to see the bill with room, food, medicine, Vent etc if in the ICU.

Went shopping at the food store last night, wore my N95 mask and latex gloves. Looked like a complete fool but I'm paranoid. Got home and there was an ambulance in front of my condo complex. An elderly neighbor was taken to the hospital with pneumonia. Her daughter texted later and said she was tested for Coronavirus. I had been in her condo the day before to see if she needed anything. She had no symptoms of any kind at that time. I am quarantining until she gets the results back. I'm exhibiting no symptoms. Point of this story, no matter how careful you are, consider ALL interactions as though others are infected.

People still are taking this as if it’s no big deal and some joke about it still. One thing that truly amazes me is how corporations and even random people on Internet forums are still placing value on a pretend economy over tangible human lives

I have been here for a long time. I have followed this from the beginning. People around me are actually listening to me now because of me warning them what is to come.

My wife thinks we are going to be building hospitals like China.

Can I ask you what you think will happen if/when hundreds of thousands of people get sick, and then to top that off millions of people don't have jobs and cant make ends meet or put food on the table? What will happen when both disasters hit at the same time.

I have been on the side of caution, I have been a supporter of stopping the spread. What I am not a supporter of is the people who think that you can just put millions of people out of work, throw them $1,000 and expect everything to go back to normal.

I believe the economical disaster that is looming is going to dwarf the virus disaster. We are only weeks to a few months from full on chaos because half of the government and businesses are shut down, and the half that collects money, isn't shut down.

People are still in denial, when the full masses wake up and realize that 2 weeks will turn into two months, sh#$ gonna get real then. People only have so much in savings and liquid cash.

It's all fun and games at the moment on FB and other social media. What happens when after 2 weeks people are told they cant go back to work yet?

I get that people sick and helpless is a big deal. But what about the serious implications of hundreds of millions of people not being able to make an income comes into play?

It's not cut and dry like you and so many say. The economical ramifications go way beyond what you are even tryining to rationalize.

I'm not trolling, I'm not being a doom pornist. Like you I am telling it how I see it.
They started more hospital space being addressed in France today. Make#'s are the plan.

On the economic front, for the virus alone, I see allot of bankruptcy. On the economic front, on the healthcare side alone it’s a tsunami type financial crisis. That excludes the existing other strains on the economy at the moment. Not much WE can do about it either, except for trying not to get sick and run the risk of healthcare expenses. Sure we can get sick and survive after a hospital visit, but we may go broke or bankrupt from it.

I think you need to be aware of any vents in the helmet (but if you block them it can fog)... I bought some 3M construction goggles but they have vents. Been trying to get an idea of how to combat the vents versus fogging dilemma myself but am just sticking it out in self isolation for now to see what happens in my locale (shrug)

There is anti fog sprays and rubs. One is called Zooks, I believe. We have to use it in the summertime when the humidity is high

A thin film of candle wax rubbed onto visors, goggles, glasses/spectacles should prevent fogging. It's an old trick I used to practice on my motorcycle helmet visor.

Beeswax may be an alternative to a candle. The layer needs to be thin so it doesn't cloud or distort your field of view.

Hope that helps! 👍

Honestly? I don't really know. With the numbers seeming to be running wild here, cuomo swore that he wouldn't declare Martial Law, but we're skirting close to it shutting all non-essential business, schools, ect. But yeah, I think we're going to start seeing lock downs. Once you start ordering things closed I think it will build up to that.

Sounds like it Will be more expensive for the country and all the corporations out there to allow the masses to become sick, as opposed to a lock down that slows the virus down immensely.

China didn’t collapse with 700,000,000 in a lockdown .

Our species is acting like it’s still 2019 when it’s clearly 2020.
