Stats for France are more than 50% of IC patients are under 60.
Netherlands, 50% are under 50.

Do you think that in other countries, where they are reporting that it hits the elderly harder, that it is because there is more of an elderly population in China and Italy so the numbers skew higher? Only time will tell as other countries start to share stats like these. *Disclaimer: I have no idea if China and Italy have more elders than other countries...it is purely speculation on my part.

Hey Tukota: This wasn't directed at me, but with all the number shifting everywhere......I am prompted to say this: It's not clear, at all, what it is, how long it lasts, and whom it really affects. I have watched while this thing creates nationalism (that some even shockingly welcome) and more xenophobia as people attack Chinese people. Now we see the division created in age, and disability vs. abled bodied.....

In other words, it's becoming obvious that it's being used to create division amongst the world populous, on lots of levels.

Supposedly, there are two different strains. If there really are, it seems one of them, at least, does not discriminate by age, or maybe even able-bodiness. We've also heard it affects smokers more. It's like it's being used, or maybe even tailor made, to affect portions of the populous with questionable "lifestyle choices," or where you're from and your ethnicity, to age and disability status.

A few pages ago, here, someone posted updates from state agencies with numbers fluctuating over a five hour period, showing a spike, and then going back to "morning" numbers. LOL, but not funny.
Take care and be safe everyone,
tetra

My God. Sorry if I kicked-off a whole bunch of our-country-vs-some-other-country stuff with my comment about the US-blaming posts on WeChat and such. I was just pointing-out the propaganda. Didn't mean to kick-off a flame-war.

To be clear, it's a Corona-Virus - that just happened to get loose in China.
If anybody, blame Corona beer!
It's everybody's virus at this point, get over it.
It's like blaming Spain for "The Spanish Flu".

At least 100 people have tested positive for the new coronavirus in Borough Park, a Hasidic neighborhood in Brooklyn. The Jewish Telegraphic Agency confirmed the number with an official at Asisa, an urgent care clinic in the New York City neighborhood that caters to the Hasidic community. According to the official, who asked to remain anonymous because of restrictions on speaking to the media, the 100 positive tests have come since the clinic began testing on Friday morning. Asisa has conducted 1,000 total tests, the official said. As of Tuesday, there are 814 total coronavirus cases in New York City, according to its Department of Health.

According to this it's a website set up by an ex soldier for price comparison on insurance etc.

ukdefencejournal.org.uk...

They probably have contacts with troop movement etc but weird to announce it on there. And the 1st reference to a UK child death I've seen. Although I've seen references to a sick child in the Yorkshire area (I think that's where it was)

Yes, it is. My sister is none too happy about it too. She has three boys, and Kansas is going to online learning, but they don't have internet ... so. Things are going to get rough while they figure that one out.

So far Missouri hasn't gone there yet.

In the absence of sufficient places in intensive care, caregivers in the areas most affected by the epidemic tell us that they have given up intubating 70-year-old patients, already sick.

Faced with the massive influx of patients in France, certain resuscitations, like many in the Grand-Est, are already saturated. Therefore the dreaded question arises: if we can not treat everyone, should we favor certain people? Delphine nods. “It's like in war medicine, you have to make choices. It will be based on age or health status. "

Those of you out there still not understanding what a pandemic means, read this story in France, (I even translated it for you) this is already happening they don’t have sufficient instruments to help everyone sick. Reminder, I am pretty sure none of us have lived thru a pandemic, I am sure the First thing coming to your mind about the flu vs a pandemic is wrong....

Coronavirus: "We will have to choose" between patients, admit caregivers

Deny ignorance.

So just got word from my niece in Pasco County Florida her winn dixie had their delivery trucks cancelled, the shelves are nearly empty and they may be closing their doors till this virus runs its course.

If that's true, it's very unsettling. Did their warehouse run out of product? Is this the first sign of things to come?

people really need to go to their mental health professionals to deal with their TDS. this has nothing at all to do with Trump TRUTHFULLY saying anything about the FACT it started in China. i thing pretty much everyone in the world knows this virus came from China.

Seriously? So I should go and get my mental health checked because I am stating the obvious! Should we start calling HIV the African virus too? Absolutly crazy!

As for the rest of your post, yes, we know what him and are like, and they will attack certain people for reasons you have above. So we know how fragile we are when things like this happen, so the last thing we need is the leader of the most powerful country in the world stirring the pot!

Trump is not a normal leader! He has a God/messiah thing going on with his followers. Same sort of thing we see in north Korea to a certain extent.

And when his followers and the media get this into their heads, what do you think will happen? Already my wife (who is chinese) was verbally abused on the bus because of the virus! And as more people get sick, and as more people die, it will only get worse!

So we do not need Trump stirring the pot!

their delivery was problematic on a good day, with the stress the system is under it was only a matter of time before they had issues.

The do not own their own ware houses so they have to rely on third party delivery services, so if they close up for any reason Winn Dixie is done till they can find new source of supply.

On the flip side I talked to a manager at Publix in Valdosta Ga and they said they still were getting their regular deliveries but anything over that was being rationed to make sure everyone still gets things they need even if smaller doses.

Not really, the last major pandemic was caused by the flu in 1918. There have been other minor pandemics since, but this is the next major one since the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic. They happen every 100 to 150 years or so.

Here are some instructive charts.

They show infection/mortality curves by country. It breaks the same data down several different ways comparing our outbreaks to data from different countries around the world. You can draw your own conclusions about how we are doing and trending so far.

That's troubling.

My folks are relying on a small, lightly used local grocery to keep them safer during this time. Hopefully, it's supplier keeps it supplied enough that they can continue to get the fresh things and few goods they need so they can avoid the larger retailers in the larger town and small cities in their area.

I have come to the conclusion the world is taking drastic steps to try and prevent the disaster from being horrible, to put it mildly. I also think allot of people do not understand what is going on yet. Thanks for the link Mrs. ketsuko.

Wisconsin schools are now closed indefinitely according to governor Evers. Originally he had closed them until April 6th but just changed that today.

If this isn't considered a COVID-19 update for the thread I apologize and mods please delete.

Its looking as if all of California will be told to shelter in place imminently. Two more counties have announced it. Media is reporting that entire state will be told to. I'm hearing on social media that San Diego county will go into effect at midnight tonight and possibly Orange County. Link: calmatters.org...
