The WHO announced on Wednesday that two employees working at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, were confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus. This is the first time a WHO headquarters has been infected.

Everyone called me an alarmist when I said we should've barred all travel to and from China in late January.

I feel vindicated by the figures, but at the same time I had hoped I was wrong.

I would like to apologize to this board for my attitude on here the other day. I've just been sick for weeks and I'm really sick and tired of being sick and tired...

My work understandably hasn't let me show up while I've been coughing etc and need a doctors release before allowing me back. I went to the clinic today to see if they would clear me since I am feeling much better. They now say I have bronchitis and swabbed me for COVID19. They said it will take 5 days and ordered me to self-quarantine until they know the results.

The nurse I spoke to told me that the lady who died recently here in Colorado of Coronavirus played bridge with 100s of people, and wouldn't you know it, like a mile away from me. She said hundreds of others she came in contact with are being tested and are now awaiting results.

We're living in a totally different world now, it's crazy to see all this happening due to something they keep telling us isn't even that serious. Even the DHS office here is running at minimal capacity. Only drive-thru at fast food places etc. The clinic I went to was surreal. They were not immediately letting anyone inside and they actually were doing throat cultures and swabs through peoples car windows. I waited outside for about an hour before they finally called me in. Never thought I'd ever be witness to something like this.

Interesting development at my work - head of HR just emailed leadership (including me) about "Pandemic Pay" for employees who get sick with CV, or need to take care of a family member who has CV - this is a good thing, thankful they would do this:

Q. What if I have symptoms or have been diagnosed with the coronavirus and I’m not able to work? How will I get paid?

A. If you are not able to work from your home due to symptoms or have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, we ask that you first use available sick time. When you have exhausted your available sick time, we will supplement your pay up to 2-weeks, which will be considered a one-time pandemic pay.

Thank you for that post. Most people won't own up like that nowadays. Stay safe and keep us informed.

PM Rutte is an idiot who is putting my grandmother in danger.

Sorry, but locking everyone else up isn't the answer, sounds like he is much more rational than others.

Your grandmother/my parents are responsible for protecting herself/themselves.

I am helping my parents by not visiting the for a while, and convincing them to self-isolate, and have offered to buy them anything they may need and bring it to them (they are only a couple of hours away by car).

With all of your solutions I just can’t grasp why the federal government hasn’t hired you for your expertise in infectious disease containment...

It is the rational answer. The virus needs to die out. There is no such thing as 'immunity' with this thing. In fact the immune system completely #es up. ''herd immunity'' doesn't apply with this nasty virus.

Unfortunately my job is still considered critical. So while 85% of my company is now working from home I’m still here risking exposure everytime I leave. I don’t live here but I have been traveling here regularly
And now with restaurants closing and stores empty the only thing I can find to eat is fast food
We have another call today to discuss if we will be sent home and postponing our work or not

How much better would be now if we did? How much better would our economy be if we did? We could have also recovered quicker once the dust settles from this.

I'm thinking many of us here are starting to feel vindicated. I received a few texts and calls yesterday from friends and family who I pleaded with to stock up since January tell me they wish they'd had listened.

We've been sick for 3 weeks or more. Both hubby and I went to dr and told we have bronchitis. We know better. We are feeling so much better, thank God!

What is happening is so sad.

Haven't heard much out of China for a while now that I think about it...
