Thanks - didn't even realise Wikipedia had a UK page on Corona Virus - the numbers are pretty crazy for such a short time, and with the amount of planes landing, can't see that reducing, or even staying low, for much longer...

Well, that sounds super scary with substantive reasons behind it.

The only thing good about it I can find to say is, now is the best time for something like that to happen, because we're already well into prevention mode, so it will be much, much harder for something like that to spread.

I just got over the flu 2 weeks ago. I went to the casino 2 days ago in Detroit. I was putting my cigarettes in the ashtray and it occurred to me how many other people have used these ashtrays. I'm wondering if my flu is coming back or if I have this virus because I'm feeling sick today like it's a second round of the flu. I'm going to the pharmacy to pick up a thermometer. I feel like I'm running a low grade fever with chills. My last flu symptoms were 2 weeks ago. I made sure not to go visit my mom until it was gone because she just got done with cancer treatment. I hope I'm just being paranoid.

How will we test them without clogging up the hospitals? And who would want to go anywhere near a hospital with long queues of obviously sick people waiting to be tested?

Precisely why I would like to see the CDC actually use our money for things that make sense, like creating simple, reliable SELF-TEST kits that we can buy at CVS, for things like this, the flu, etc...

Then have a system/model in place for creating new ones very quickly if/when new viruses show up.

I was going to say yes but then we'd end up with dozens of other threads to monitor as each country did the same but might still be worth having this thread for the major updates and discussion and country threads for more pertinent info.
Nobody else cares about Irn Bru being out of stock, or marmite (and all those things to each country)

I don't know but what I've been told there is some secretecy (sp) in what is being reported locally.
New coronavirus 961 confirmed infections in Japan . Its Sunday here and the news from the govt. is really not up to date.
Tomorrow we will get a more formal statement from the Japanese govt. So far they have not been beating around the bush and giving it to us straight . ex. bus stops now have new schedules that say no transportation after 4 pm

South Korea sect leader to face homicide probe over deaths

The leader of a religious sect in South Korea could face a homicide investigation over some of the country's coronavirus deaths.

The city government of the capital Seoul has asked prosecutors to charge Lee Man-hee, the founder of the Shincheonji Church, and 11 others.

They are accused of hiding the names of some members as officials tried to track patients before the virus spread.

South Korea is battling the worst coronavirus outbreak outside China.

The country has reported 3,730 cases and 21 deaths so far. More than half of all infections involve members of the Shincheonji Church of Jesus, a fringe Christian group.

Authorities say Shincheonji members infected one another in the southern city of Daegu last month, before fanning out around the country.

The BBC's Laura Bicker in Seoul says the complaint reflects growing public anger towards the religious group. Its leader Lee Man-hee claims he is the Messiah.

All 230,000 members of the church have been interviewed and nearly 9,000 said they were showing symptoms of coronavirus.

So can you give us the time frame that Japan has gone from zero to 961 please?

This part has just confused me. Why 4pm? If you are going to restrict travel to stop something spreading, you stop it all, full stop. Is the virus only allowed out after 4pm?? Of course not. Did they give a reason for the 4pm deadline MIM?

Crude goes down

But gas will go up, especially if they are expecting any sort of panic or a run on stocking up on fuel.

no ridership and students that take the bus will no longer be present, in other words , schools will be closed but for the elderly do you shopping in the morning ( most americans dont know but man japanese people take the bus to do shopping, because they are in the 70's and over
