I was wondering if you care to comment on the general vibe of the experts you are working with. Are they feeling we will be more like South Korea or does it feel more like a race against becoming Italy?

My SIL lives and works in Downtown Ann Arbor. She's 24.
She is sick and her dad wants her to get tested but, she's sick all the time. I told her she better tell me asap if she gets tested.

They listed all of the counties in one of the articles. May have been WDIV. I hope your SIL is okay. The case in my city started out at the little hospital 5 minutes from me then 24 hours later they transferred him by ambulance to U of M. You have to be quite darn sleuth to find this info out though through community channels..

Anecdote only:

So I live in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area).

At 4pm today it was announced that Ontario (Canada) public schools are closed for 3 weeks starting Monday March 16th until April 5th.

I've been grabbing the extra rice, pasta canned goods for the last month. So our family is pretty stocked.

Today on the way home looked like Christmas Eve. An absolute gong show with everyone buying ANYTHING. The liquor store was bonkers too. Think essentials...

went shopping at loblaws just for couple of items and everybody going mental like today was the first time they ever heard the word coronavirus. Its like they have been sleeping under a rockpile or something.
When are they going to stop flights coming in.
more cases everyday going up in numbers and no changes at airport security just wash your hands and heres a medical form to read.

they cancelled pattys day parade in toronto which is a start i guess. and schools now closed in ontario.

Looking for info on cold weather - unfortunately warming up here to around freezing been -16c and below.

Seen reports virus stays active for 9 days at 37c longer at lower temperatures it there a value where the lower temperature kills it on leaving the mouth or landing on ice?

Mathew Broderick's sister has tested positive for coronavirus and admitted to the ICU. In the article it states she caught the virus at a conference in February. She sought medical treatment in February but was diagnosed with a viral symptom and sent home

and a 2.5 day doubling rate, which seems to have been valid for the last two weeks.

Realistically, sometime between 3.4% and 27%, the oblivious and deniers are going to realize something is wrong, and will start "social distancing," which will increase the doubling period. And, the total infected will likely not hit 100%, at least for months.

Notice that the closure announcements seem to cite the April 2 to 15 window.

There is amazing market manipulation taking place in Australia. Its mind boggling.

Australia was -8% for most of the day.

Then suddenly, without reason, announcement, good news or anything.. it suddenly rebounded 10% to be up 2%

Since coronavirus is all the planet now, and all over the internet I think this thread is starting to look very chaotic; one comes page after page looking for some valuable information, sometimes you pass more than three in a row without anything meaningful. And then, the very next one contains many posts that are truly valuable for this moment.

I believe we should separate into different threads. The medical breaking news concerning the virus should have in my opinion a thread of its own (with information regarding all kind of scientific discoveries concerning this) this thread could even have natural medicine there as well. ALL INFORMATION regarding how to prevent/treat the virus deserves its own thread.

As for not diversifying so much, all other topics can go into this one. But lets be honest: By now there could even be a thread about corona jokes and memes all of its own

20% need hospital treatment.

3% will die outright.

Another 5-8% will die without intense medical intervention.

You can't provide that to 3.75 million people.

Add to that all the deaths from now untreatable ailments (heart attack, etc)

Add to that the lack of anti biotics etc (no country has enough high dose ABs to treat 3 - 5 million people - maybe 30K to 50K tops).

Total death rate = c. 18% of all infected which in Merkels prediction is 10.45 million.

If she's wrong and 90% get it = 13.4 million dead.

Now multiply by your own population = the # has hit the fan big time.

And yet in the UK.....

We're still allowing the Cheltenham festival and incoming flights from anywhere in the world.

Because we know that a cup o' tea and some fish and chips and mushy peas make you immune.
