Which begs the question if you get the mild strain does it protect you from the nasty one, much like cowpox and smallpox. Have South Korea and Taiwan got the mild one? Where Italy China and Iran got the bad one.

Or, if you get it, but you don't show severe symptoms, you can still transmit to people, people who might be in a vulnerable group. People with underlying conditions, etc

I forgot to add this, for real time journal information and scientific research use Biorxiv.

Biorxiv

They're allowing people to publish early, basically real time research on all of the studies related to coronavirus. They're also not caring about peer review because everyone I know including the military, states, Healthcare facilities and universities are calling this a pandemic. It allows publishing of important data about research from all kinds of places like Hong Kong, Harvard, Yale, research institutions etc.

Hundreds of pages ago, we were discussing a dichotomy in case reports: for some, one person in a family would get CV19, in others the whole extended family would be dead within days.

We know know there are S & L variant, maybe T & Q too, or a newer one? Maybe we should keep one eye open toward these differenced arising again. I have been noticing shadows of that in the recent pages. This may explain some of the strange differences in "how long it survives on" and cluster spread rates.

I've thought about this too.... that it seems like there's more than 2 established variants.

They are not going to test Justin, because he has no symptoms. Let that cook your noodle for a moment.

This may have been asked but the pages are compounding too quickly for me. Does having had the pneumonia vaccination provide any benefit in the current situation? It's been five years or so for me when I had it. I would believe most people over 60 in this country would have had the shot. I would think there is not a benefit as this is a virus and not a bacteria.

I don't doubt it. Link? A lot of world leaders (term used loosely in this case) are being infected. As much as I despise their politics I hope they are ok.

EDIT:
apnews.com...

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s wife has tested positive for the new coronavirus.

Could have been a C-17 or a C-130, we do have a few 130's at moody but like I said the approach was wrong for the base, that's why I think it could be DoD coming maybe from Robbins with supplies/personnel to help properly assess things.

We are a tiny base with an even smaller clinic, they dont even really have the people to handle just active duty on base normally if this stuff takes off they will be overwhelmed in a day or so.

This is another take on it, by a Doctor in the NHS reported in the Independent , it would appear that if you were going to be front line staff in an epidemic, you would have to ask yourself "Is this worth it?" Apparently hundreds of thousands in Italy have asked that question and have made a decision. www.independent.co.uk... d=IwAR2efBBE4g-qTM8RANE0ARrz-nAnhORQBW1TASd1PT0AyfuB49V_5dGW5XM#Echobox=1584026425

From looking at the 420 genomes samples on nextstrain and GisAid, it looks like US/CA and US/WA have a fairly different strain than US/NY and AUS. Netherlands, UK and the rest of Europe seem to be in a third and fourth group.

POTUS health is considered classified info IIRC from being a DHS contractor.

Most likely he was tested and is negative, I would presume.

As far as you TDS sufferers, knock it off. I’m not in here beating on that old hag Pelosi but she’s giving me plenty of reason. Please stop or mod will do it.

Let’s be classic ATS, stick to issue. Fine to say admin response sucks, I agree partially.

China is seriously ramping up the anti-US rhetoric outright blaming US Army for planting the virus in Wuhan. WTF.

No it doesn't unfortunately. This is new to all of us, almost like being a kid again. The pneumonia vaccine hurts lol, if I remember right it has antigens for various numbers bacteria depending on the shot.

It won't protect you from the virus but it could potentially mitigate secondary infections by those bacteria if someone had a severe infection.

What stinks about these types of vaccines is you need them more often than other vaccines.

While I think we have been delayed and lax in our initial response, we can still control it.

Good thing is that the recovery rate is also increasing.

What would that graphs look like if the US was broken down into similar geographical and/or populations as the other countries and city on these charts.

Or am I reading it wrong and they are already taking such things into account?

Not sure what you mean. On both a global and regional scale the numbers pan out.

If you mean a current US regional scale it would not be representative because we have not hit that curve.

With out taking scaling into account could the data be misleading?

Say for example if 95% of the us cases where confined to California. That graph would tell the same story; but the truth would be that most of the US was doing great containing the virus; while CA alone was following the rest of the regions on the graph.

Now its not the case that 95% of the cases are CA; but neither is it true that all of the country is experiencing the same level of severity.

I think that is important information to relate to people as it would mean different measures are required based on what is happening locally.

Unfortunately with the dominasion of national news; and the fact that most of that news comes from the areas most affected means that a lot of people are not getting the information they need to plan locally.
