Hello again.

Thanks, TheAMEDDDoc for those updates! Much appreciated.

Thanks to everyone that has been contributing also. Thanks to all that have been reading my posts also.

New updates from Chile:

- Cases are now 34. Double the cases we had Tuesday IIRC. Still no deaths, and it seems all of the infected are in healthy conditions. Source in english (Google Translate)

- Authorities say that Chile is about to enter "phase 3". That is to implement "new measurements of actions". Our dictator (sorry, can't call him a president anymore) will speak on Saturday to present this new "special measures". Also people that arrive from Italy or Spain will be put into a 14 day mandatory quarantine. Source in english Google Translate

- Public activities are finally being canceled or postponed. Like, "Lollapalooza Chile" has been suspended, possibly postponed Source in english, Google Translate.
- Also a famous convention, ExpoMin (remember Chile is a country that has lots of mining activity), has been canceled. Some countries that participate in it are USA, Japan, China, Germany, Canada, Spain, Australia, Korea. Source in english Google Translate
- Soccer matches will be played without public for a month Source in english google translate

- The Biggest airline over here has stated that they will reduce their international flights by 30%, mainly flights from South America to Europe and the USA, this is because of lower demand and because of some the restrictions imposed by governments after the W.H.O. declared a pandemic. Also this: "The decisions made include the suspension of new investments, expenses and contracts, incentives for unpaid leave and anticipation of vacations." Source in english Google Translate

- The USDollar has increased it's price to a historical price. It has done so very fast. We are expecting the prices of almost everything to rise. Source in english google translate Note by me: This is NOT good. Chile is already expensive. Almost everything costs between 1.5x~2x what it costs in the USA. Yes, we pay USD$1,5k for the same computer that in USA costs USD$1k or less. Same goes with a lot of other products, even some food. So now you can see the severity of the issue.

This is from Argentina: Argentina has suspended international flights from the areas that are most affected by the virus for 30 days.

Meanwhile, a migration provision published this Thursday in the Official Gazette temporarily suspends applications for admission as temporary residents of foreigners who are outside the country and come from China, South Korea, Iran, Japan, United States, Great Brittany, the European Union and those that make up the Schengen area.
Source in english Google Translate

From Italy: An Italian actor is asking for help because he got locked up with the body of his sister that died because of the Coronavirus. He, in an act of desperation, gave mouth-to-mouth breathing to her, and is afraid he spread the virus. Poor guy! There is a video, but the video can only be seen in the spanish version of the site Source in spanish - in english by google translate

Stay safe

Yes, a big thank you to Agit8dChop for the thread. Thanks to everyone for the contributions. Thanks for keeping us updated with news here at ATS, much easier and faster than searching by your own means.

I felt a little silly when we went to buy food to prepare for what was suspected to come, back in February. I knew that we would have a shortage of products and that the US Dollar was going to jump very high and would affect the prices. Always was thinking, "well, I'll look at it like buying in advanced, if nothing happens, we'll still eat it" hahahaha.

I also suspected that our "government" was going to jump into the "opportunity" to use the virus as means to control the people, so that also played into the decision to stock up. (Not to mention the possible looting that some idiots where going to do again, hiding behind rightful protests).

Now, after seeing all of this unfold, do not feel so silly anymore. Things are getting real over here fast. I'll update again Saturday to inform what "special measurements" our dictator has in store.

Also, even though a lot of you have been called out for "fear mongering", I never felt that from most of you.

Thanks again! Now it's mostly a waiting game to see what happens in our respective countries.

Keep the updates guys. What happens in another country, even if it's in another continent, might happen in yours.

Hello everyone.
First time poster here and just wanted to share some information. I went to the doctor last week because of a bad flu that had gone to my sons lungs and was getting him rechecked. My doctor brought up this virus and told me that he had thousands of test kits that were just delivered to his office. The kicker is he has to wait for FDA approval to use them. He said that was expected to happen within the week. He stated if my flu symptoms(the whole family was knocked down by worst illness ever but we did test positive Flu Type A) came back or got worse to call his office. They would Fedex me a test kit same day. He said you prick your finger like you would for a diabetic test strip. Then he said you put a droplet of blood on it and it would tell you “positive” or “negative” immediately just like a pregnancy test(his words). No proving I was exposed to the virus, no office visit, all covered by insurance. I’m in the state of Oklahoma. He also went on to explain I should be worried about it, it is worse than they say and it’s spreading fast.

Thanks for posting

From that article

California Gov. Gavin Newsom released a sweeping executive order on Thursday that allows the state to commandeer hotels and medical facilities to treat coronavirus patients and permits government officials to hold teleconferences in private without violating open meeting laws.

“This is where we need to go next, and to make sure we fully implement those procedures and protocols to slow down the spread to get through a peak and to get through the next few months, so we don’t overwhelm our healthcare delivery system,” Newsom told reporters.

Welcome to the Hotel California. You can checkout anytime you want but you can never leave.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian took to Twitter on Friday to double down on an unproven claim that the US military brought the new coronavirus
to the central city of Wuhan, where the outbreak began.

Zhao urged his more than 287,000 followers in two tweets on Friday morning to widely share an allegation from a Canada-based conspiracy website that the coronavirus – which has become a global pandemic – originated in the US rather than the Wuhan seafood market that is thought to be its source.

“This is so astonishing that it changed many things I used to believe in,” he wrote on his official account.

The US embassy in Beijing did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Zhao’s tweets.
The allegation was apparently linked to the US Army’s participation in the international Military World Games
held in Wuhan in October, which drew competitors from more than 100 countries.

MILAN/SEOUL (Reuters) - In Italy, millions are locked down and more than 1,000 people have died from the coronavirus. In South Korea, hit by the disease at about the same time, only a few thousand are quarantined and 67 people have died. As the virus courses through the world, the story of two outbreaks illustrates a coming problem for countries now grappling with an explosion in cases.

Both countries saw their first cases of the disease called COVID-19 in late January. South Korea has since reported 67 deaths out of nearly 8,000 confirmed cases, after testing more than 222,000 people. In contrast, Italy has had 1,016 deaths and identified more than 15,000 cases after carrying out more than 73,000 tests on an unspecified number of people.

Epidemiologists say it is not possible to compare the numbers directly. But some say the dramatically different outcomes point to an important insight: Aggressive and sustained testing is a powerful tool for fighting the virus.

OK so I think I know what the strategy is for the UK now, probably the US too as they seem to be working off the same play book (cahoots...?). I think US is having a harder time sticking to the plan though because individual states have enough power to do their own thing, not privy to the bigger plan.

I believe the strategy is race to heard immunity which involves ~60% of the population getting infected.

You keep schools open precisely because they are a breeding ground, a bug highway. Infecting our children as soon as possible, and all these highways like mass transit systems subways etc. This infects the least likely to die, and then provides herd immunity to the rest by blocking the main routes of spread, allowing the rest to gain herd immunity much more slowly and more manageable.

This is a very dangerous strategy, not to mention the ethics of holding our children in front of us as human shields. There are many holes in this strategy, which they are plugging with just wash your hands, and protect the elderly etc. Personally, I think this strategy is monstrous above all else, but also severely flawed.

I disagree only because I'm lucky enough to have a little one in school right now. They sent home a two page paper, the first page was basically saying they care about the health and safety of all students and staff. The usual things we've been hearing. The second page is what caught my attention. It was two questions, yes and no check boxes. Do you have a personal computer? Do you have the internet? I think they are planning to shut down the schools or at least it's been discussed to a level where they are sending that paper out.

Is it realistic to hope for a vaccine for something that is mutating so quickly we now have at least four strains?

Yes I think shutting down schools is a common sense measure. Here in the UK advice is to keep schools open, even if there is a confirmed case there. Some schools are obeying, some are not. Some are even threatening parents with prosecution for keeping their children off.

In the US I think you have similar things happening but on the state level, not just the individual school level, entire states have the ability to go against the government line.
