I'm not sure what a lot of your posts mean! All I meant was you keep going on about listening to Japan and doing as they do and how bad it is there, but you guys seem to be holding out well.. the japanese culture seems to have slowed the virus right down. Its too late for our governments to listen to you now, they should have listened a few weeks back

. That's all.

hey no problem
I seen the problem early on here. We have 2.2 million foreigners here, they will NO go along with the Japanese culture when panic hits. We now have passed "panic one", which was not too bad at all, but "panic 2 is like a tsunami that we know will happen but we just won't think it will happen". it will come and my guess on Monday or Tuesday of next week, why, well, its "street talk" at the moment. so stay tune

Cheaper than Gatorade and none of the sweetness.

Actually, here in Belgium they seem to have joined the 21st century at last. Doctors are doing online and over the phone screening, they have permission to write out online subscriptions and drs notes for work. We have drive through testing areas, etc.

Impressive... I wish I could say that we will probably follow suit - but I doubt it.

Virologists and journalists on television just admitted that they were wrong to compare covid19 with the flu and that this gave the public a false sense of security, because it IS worse then flu, even when the first symptoms are the same, and mortality rate IS much higher.

It is spreading like wildfire primarily because it is new. Once it gets established (and it is inevitable now) and our immune systems adjust a bit, it will probably be 'like' the flu, maybe still will a little higher CFR.

Same time the measurements are getting extremer.

Not sure what you mean...

We (many of us regular citizens) are NOT anti-American by being concerned (not panicked) about what is going on.

Pushing for a complete and total suspension of all travel and trade - essentially destroying the worlds economy - is, in fact, an act of panic, and is totally unjustified based on the numbers currently being experienced.

A Brit in Wuhan who got the virus and has so far survived has made a video which discusses Wuhan and what has happened to him with regards to his early on symptoms; worth a watch IMO.

Thanks for this. I was just saying that I haven’t seen a lot of video diaries from people who are sick and wondered why.

"We all should be saying 'flatten the curve'."

Thank God!! Another person with some common sense!

The question is how. What actions do you take. Do you take such drastic action that it destroys the worlds economy, devastates families, and causes utter devastation to the poor?

Or do we simply keep people informed, be smart, minimize the spread as much as possible while going about our daily lives, and do not take up any medical resources unless it is an emergency, leaving them free to care for those who really need it?

It would be nice to find for information regarding whether or not the virus died in hot climate. Saudi Arabia is very hot and is already on sort of a lockdown (at least academic centers).

I think it is more heat+humidity that stifles the spread/growth... but as this thing is still a large unknown, we'll just have to wait and see.

Trade is allowed to continue, people traveling is the issue.

If we do nothing, people will complain, if we act with diligence, people will complain.

Fingers still in ears I see.

I think there are a lot of smarter people calling the shots. A lot of level headed ones. I don't think they would crush the economy because of panic. Checks and balances. Sure, some may be panicked, but others would not. These people know what they are doing, and the last thing they want is to loose money themselves.

So with all respect, it is just your opinion. Unless you have real inside information, it is meaningless, just like the rest of our opinions.

The numbers don't matter. Real life testimony from Dr's who have been living it matters. Don't look at the numbers.... look at real life. There's a reason other countries have stopped thinking about the economy and started looking at saving lives instead. Hospitals are over capacity in places. Seattle is already stressed. "Wait and see" is not a good idea when lives are at stake. Proactive measures are necessary

Well there ya have it. Airborne. We all need hazmat suits. I've been telling my husband since January it was airborne but no one wanted to admit it because that is BAD. Everyone who was picking on that person a few pages back for posting doom porn.... this lines up with what they said.
