She is feeling better. It's her mother she ought to be taking care of. If she hasn't heard from the dept. of health, then she calls her doctor and explains the situation and asks how he would like her to proceed.

I just got the call.

My son (34 years old) was just tested for coronavirus. He lives alone but, four people from his office were also sick today and all were sent in for blood tests, he said, at the local hospital. We won't have results until Thursday. This is in Indiana. His only symptom is fever. He is isolated at home.

Sill processing this information. It just got very real. Thanks for being here ATS. Sorry to be off topic.

so it seems to be affecting some on ATS now.

But just remember it is very low mortality rate for under 60's and i think it's 0.2 for under 40's

I just got a reply from the School District Superintendent. That was really fast, I was not expecting an answer until tomorrow.

From the horses mouth:

Hi Mr. L,
Thank you for the note and frankly, the candor. I respect what you're doing. Everyone has to look out for their family. As a man, I totally understand. I don't know what the future holds, so I can't argue with anything you stated below. We are in an odd position because the NYS Education Dept has given us little to no guidance on school closures and what that means for state requirements. So, I'm in the same boat in a sense the only difference being that if we do close, I'd like to at least know what it means for us in regards to the 180 day requirement.

We will work with you. As I have said to my people, as we expect the state education dept to be flexible with us, we in turn need to be flexible with families. We have started to discuss how to provide programming in an electronic format or via paper packets. I expect that to be resolved in the next week or so. In the meantime, I will attempt to gather work and will send it directly to you.

Going forward, if you have any questions please feel free to reach back out.

Genetic properties of Ebola and any coronavirus are too dissimilar to allow for recombination (the combining of two viruses)
If they did manage to somehow both infect a cell and combine the outcome would likely be something nearly harmless....moot point though as they are so different from eachother

I'm also from MI and am curious about that too. It seems there are still the same 14 states with no cases: Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, North & South Dakota, New Mexico, Michigan, West Virginia, Maine, Arkansas, and Alaska, Mississippi, Alabama, Delaware.

PS - It stinks that your daughter's teacher won't let her work online. Since the teacher is willing to work herself with viral pneumonia I guess she feels everyone should come to school/work sick. SMH! And with it being your daughters last semester, the teacher can really mess her up if she reports that she didn't attend enough classes.
