It is what it is and this is what we have to go on for the moment.
The numbers are skewed, we got it.
She works as a nurse and had a meeting with 6 persons already (note by me: they didn't clarify if it's a work related meeting, if it is, I hope they close that hospital). This 6 persons are currently under observations. She is currently in good health and has been sent to self-quarantine in her house (note by me: stupid measurement, same as they did with the husband. I wonder why they didn't tell her to NOT work just like they told her husband).
She also has been in at home with her relatives, which are also under observation.
Authorities are trying to contact 60 persons that traveled in the same bus. (Note by me: They traveled from Santiago to Talca. That is a distance of 250 km (~155 miles). About 3 hrs by bus.)

Unfortunately, not everyone has insurance, even with USA's new insurance plan
Understood...
I don't feel sorry for someone whose paid-for home burns down, and they have no insurance.
You get what you pay (or don't pay) for...

well done UK.. taking some proactive steps to help the people
So, is the UK government reimbursing the companies actually paying the sick pay?
No need too, statutory sick pay comes from the government not the employer.

Didn't want to say sooner, but I think the virus is everywhere in the world already. Specially after I read this post.
By the way, Chilean authorities are calling this a global pandemic, regardless of what the W.H.O. says.
Stay safe guys.

The WHO did not test 7 billion people and they don't know the unreported cases of infected, recovered and deaths.
But in the bubble they measure they are right.

Nope. Employer pays SSP in the UK, cannot reclaim. Cost me 5 grand last year. Thanks government! Government used to pay it. Big business probably has ways to weasel with rooms full of lawyers and big HR departments. Normal businesses, normal people will be screwed.
Government is already trying to get people to want full wage while off. I think people should get full wage. But it should be the government who pays. They can print money, we cannot. It won't lead to inflation because it's not making anyone better off, it's just stopping them from being far worse off.
The way they are doing it, businesses will go under, screwing the employer AND all the employees. Tory attitude to this is, well, if businesses cannot afford to pay then they were going to fail anyway. Nonsense. They're just clearing the way for big business, the ones they can invest in and make deals with. Keep everyone else down where they belong. Bloody Tories.

I'll take a look for a transcript, but if only 80-90% recover then it means 10-20% will NOT recover. Now is that deaths or long term illness for the remaining 10-20%?!

I though it went against HIIPA to release anything even remotely like this kind of detail?
If they can release this info, how about a little more, like - you know, the ages of the parents (I mean, they released the age of the children, one of them a minor child), the conditions of each, etc...
Frustration after frustration...

I know. I can read.
They should stop fear-mongering - as should you.
HONG KONG: The pet dog of a coronavirus patient in Hong Kong was confirmed to be infected with the disease, in a likely case of human-to-animal transmission, authorities said on Wednesday (Mar 4).
The canine, which belongs to a 60-year-old female patient, had repeatedly tested "weak positive" for the new coronavirus since Friday, when it was quarantined at an animal centre.
The city's Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said repeated tests suggest the dog - a pomeranian - has "a low-level of infection".
