Based on the World Health Organisation

I know - meaningless numbers because of their source.

The vast majority are in China, and we all know those are fake, for many likely reasons.

It is what it is and this is what we have to go on for the moment.

But it is irrational to make life altering economy crushing decisions based on data that you know is at best extremely flawed.

How can you argue that?

The numbers are skewed, we got it.

They aren't just skewed, they are flawed to the extreme, and we don't even know in which direction, much less by how many orders of magnitude.

Hi guys. New update from Chile.

A 2nd case has been detected Source in spanish - Souce in english. The wife of the 1st case. (Post about 1st case here)

She works as a nurse and had a meeting with 6 persons already (note by me: they didn't clarify if it's a work related meeting, if it is, I hope they close that hospital). This 6 persons are currently under observations. She is currently in good health and has been sent to self-quarantine in her house (note by me: stupid measurement, same as they did with the husband. I wonder why they didn't tell her to NOT work just like they told her husband).

She also has been in at home with her relatives, which are also under observation.

Authorities are trying to contact 60 persons that traveled in the same bus. (Note by me: They traveled from Santiago to Talca. That is a distance of 250 km (~155 miles). About 3 hrs by bus.)

Didn't want to say sooner, but I think the virus is everywhere in the world already. Specially after I read this post.

By the way, Chilean authorities are calling this a global pandemic, regardless of what the W.H.O. says.

Stay safe guys.

Unfortunately, not everyone has insurance, even with USA's new insurance plan

Understood...

I don't feel sorry for someone whose paid-for home burns down, and they have no insurance.

You get what you pay (or don't pay) for...

We were talking health insurance here

well done UK.. taking some proactive steps to help the people

So, is the UK government reimbursing the companies actually paying the sick pay?

No need too, statutory sick pay comes from the government not the employer.

Nope. Employer pays SSP in the UK, cannot reclaim. Cost me 5 grand last year. Thanks government! Government used to pay it. Big business probably has ways to weasel with rooms full of lawyers and big HR departments. Normal businesses, normal people will be screwed.

Government is already trying to get people to want full wage while off. I think people should get full wage. But it should be the government who pays. They can print money, we cannot. It won't lead to inflation because it's not making anyone better off, it's just stopping them from being far worse off.

The way they are doing it, businesses will go under, screwing the employer AND all the employees. Tory attitude to this is, well, if businesses cannot afford to pay then they were going to fail anyway. Nonsense. They're just clearing the way for big business, the ones they can invest in and make deals with. Keep everyone else down where they belong. Bloody Tories.

Oh its already spread all right, we're just now finding out by how much.
How many can we test a day, and how many are going to be tested, due to lack of symptoms, or will to beleive they have it ?
The infectiousness of this means it has already spread.

How bad will we get it ? Not sure.

Be Prepared. Thats what the Scouts used to say in the UK at least.

The WHO did not test 7 billion people and they don't know the unreported cases of infected, recovered and deaths.

But in the bubble they measure they are right.

Exactly.

Let's extrapolate this reality out...

They provide numbers on the flu, but how accurate are those? I never go to the doctor for colds and flu, even when I get it really (been a long time since I started eating right and getting in some HIIT). How many more people out there are there like me?

How many deaths due to flu are recorded as pneumonia, not the flu?

Or more succinctly: Lies, damned lies, and statistics...

Yeah changed about 6 years ago. It's a joke really, businesses are just paying what the government should be paying in income support for sick or disabled. Big business will just fire long term sick, because there are ways to do it "properly". I think it is criminal. How could you do that to an employee? Small guys suffer, big business are given loop holes.

I'll take a look for a transcript, but if only 80-90% recover then it means 10-20% will NOT recover. Now is that deaths or long term illness for the remaining 10-20%?!

Family affair - 4 of the 6 cases in New York all 1 family

- A lawyer from Westchester County
- The lawyer's wife
- His son, a 20-year-old Yeshiva student
- His 14-year-old daughter
- A neighbor who drove him to the hospital

I though it went against HIIPA to release anything even remotely like this kind of detail?

If they can release this info, how about a little more, like - you know, the ages of the parents (I mean, they released the age of the children, one of them a minor child), the conditions of each, etc...

Frustration after frustration...

I think they were just ad-libbing, not being precise.
But thats when they let things loose.

Like the tests only being able to detect dead virus, and hence deductively, not live virus.
I don't understand how you can get a positive/negative result from a test that only detects a dead virus.

Maybe a medical minded person can enlighten us ?

Didn't I read that Germany said the same thing? Maybe if enough countries say it, the W.H.O. will have to capitulate.

It may be illegal in the USA, but if another site, outside of USA publishes it....its open game.
Happens all the time. Especially politics and voting stuff.

Please understand that the 3.4% DEATH RATE was ANNOUNCED BY THE WHO.

I know. I can read.

They should stop fear-mongering - as should you.

Which tells me that governments have some information that they have not imparted to the public about what's really going on.

Its not fear mongering when it's the only percentage from known numbers that they have been given, its a fact.
The thing is the percentage could be much lower as alot more people have it and havn't died, but it could also be much higher because people have died and they've put it down to something else other than coronavirus.
Hasn't the flu killed more people than usual this winter? If so how do we know that it's not the flu killing them but actually the coronavirus??
I doubt we will ever know the proper true figures.

So apparently the 1st case of human to animal transmission has been confirmed in hong kong

HONG KONG: The pet dog of a coronavirus patient in Hong Kong was confirmed to be infected with the disease, in a likely case of human-to-animal transmission, authorities said on Wednesday (Mar 4).

The canine, which belongs to a 60-year-old female patient, had repeatedly tested "weak positive" for the new coronavirus since Friday, when it was quarantined at an animal centre.

The city's Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) said repeated tests suggest the dog - a pomeranian - has "a low-level of infection".
