Are parts of China still in lockdown? Not really hearing much about China now it's hit home. Just wondering if they're still using severe measures there as I know cases are falling there.

What is the death like?

Asphyxiation I'm assuming?

Is it a drawn out nightmare, or sudden?

From what I have read and seen in a video done by a doctor..... yes. It's like drowning in your own phlegm and it doesn't happen fast most of the time. I'm glad I'm not over 60 but I'm 50 and at least mostly healthy (rarely get sick) but I DO NOT WANT TO DIE OF THIS. Seems like one of my worst nightmares

Wonderful......
I've almost drown several times surfing.....it's scary Af

I'd be asking for more morphine. Much better way to go, bring on the opiates and don't stop.

They need to rename that place from LifeCare, to WhoCares, or DeathCare.

I’m sure the people working here are doing their damn best to care for these people .

Sometimes your best can’t do what you want and I have no doubts many people are haunted now from these deaths .

Give them a break .

A month from now, the people in the US won't be giving a second thought to China and Iran.
We may be neck deep in our own body bags by then.

It's been at 3.4% for quite some time. I have been following stats from the COVID19info.live website.

There is one thing what is different in COVID19 from normal flu. In Covid 19 there is no runny nose ( very few has that ) or sneezing. You should get tested !

Now I'm facing the dilemma that many people here in the US are about to face. As of right now everyone in the family is ok and isn't sick enough to need a doctor and we are all fairly young and healthy with no underlying issues. From what I heard the test is going to result in an insurance bill of thousands of dollars per person. I'm happy to self isolate the family just in case to avoid passing whatever this is on to other people however I'm not in a financial position to incur an enormous medical bill just to find out for sure. Given where we live and the fact that the population here is mostly Asian, I'm assuming this is already out in the wild here and its pointless to try and avoid getting it. In the last few weeks alone I've had contact with many people who have travelled from China and Iran. The only way I see us getting tested is if one of us gets worse, or, more likely if my sons girlfriend gets tested by her Mom (nurse) and is confirmed to have it. Until then, we have enough supplies to stay home for months, in large part due to the info from this forum so thank you to everyone sharing info!

It's a disgrace!

This is what taxes are paid for. This is what governments and politicians are for. Public health is a priority, not a cash cow!

You should be able to get tested for free as a matter of public health and national security and for a whole host of other reasons. This is what a successful economy is there to support. That is what the money is for, not for pumping hundreds of billions into the markets to make things appear better for global investment.

You and your family will be fine. Believe it. Even if it is the virus, and who knows, it may give you some resistance to a second wave. I do hope these psychopaths in charge don't fare so well. If they are doing their job, they should be exposed very quickly. What does that make me? I don't care. This is just plain wrong.

There is this though:

"A young woman from Wuhan, China visited five family members, who all contracted novel coronavirus, COVID-19, in the first-ever documented case of an asymptomatic carrier with normal chest CT imaging results, researchers found."

Yep, but its from China - so totally untrustworthy, anecdotal at best, but definitely not 'proof'.

Okay well Vroomfondel confirmed what I have been reading. Also a reporter called him out on that and he deferred to the woman next to him (forget her name) and she basically didn't answer. She talked about the 1% of people tested who didn't have symptoms and said that they were not actually asymptomatic but PREsymptomatic because they later developed symptoms. She never actually answered the question but if someone can test positive and not have symptoms does that not mean there's already viral shedding going on? Anyway, my point is she didn't answer the question from the very concerned reporter who also had obviously thought it could spread with no symptoms. I think Vroomfondel may be right. Possibly they are saying that so people will stop hoarding masks that health care workers desperately need. There was talk about how PPE's were in low supply and it was a huge issue.

Typical double speak: "They are not asymptomatic, they just aren't showing any symptoms..."

It is becoming quite clear that TPTB are facing two very dangerous potentials - covid-19 and panic.

I pointed out the map of US outbreaks showing by far the greater majority of US infections in sanctuary cities/states, not as political baiting but as a simple direct observation. It is entirely possible that the concentrations of cases in sanctuary cities is purely coincidental. And it is also entirely possible that the concentrations of cases is due to illegal aliens carrying the virus here in an attempt to escape other highly contaminated areas. After all, they brought small pox and polio here again. Why not covid-19?

Realistically speaking, there aren't many countries where someone fleeing an outbreak in their homeland could turn to right now. At least not without intense vetting and quarantine, if even then. A border as easily crossed as the southern US is very attractive to someone who doesn't want to get caught in miles of red tape and bureaucratic posturing.

SFO and SeaTac also take in a large sum of international flights from Eastern Asia. To me that has little to do with sanctuary cities and more to do with frequency of potential exposure

And my point is that a porous border and sanctuary cities who welcome and help protect illegals from immigration increase the potential of exposure...

China’s aggressive measures have slowed the coronavirus. They may not work in other countries

By Kai Kupferschmidt, Jon CohenMar. 2, 2020 , 4:50 PM

"Chinese hospitals overflowing with COVID-19 patients a few weeks ago now have empty beds. Trials of experimental drugs are having difficulty enrolling enough eligible patients. And the number of new cases reported each day has plummeted the past few weeks.

"These are some of the startling observations in a report released on 28 February from a mission organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Chinese government that allowed 13 foreigners to join 12 Chinese scientists on a tour of five cities in China to study the state of the COVID-19 epidemic and the effectiveness of the country’s response. The findings surprised several of the visiting scientists. “I thought there was no way those numbers could be real,” says epidemiologist Tim Eckmanns of the Robert Koch Institute, who was part of the mission.

But the report is unequivocal. “China’s bold approach to contain the rapid spread of this new respiratory pathogen has changed the course of a rapidly escalating and deadly epidemic,” it says. “This decline in COVID-19 cases across China is real"

It goes on to say that we can't do the same things they did so... I'm not sure what that means for the rest of us.

I stocked up on Mucinex and filled a rescue inhaler prescription that I didn't really need from a cough I had a few weeks ago. Already had one at home, but decided to get it and have it on hand.

Also, I have an Oximeter, allows me to know when my oxygen level is lower than it normally is and be able to watch my kids and my wife, to make better decisions on when to go to hospital or not, should we catch it.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.

I will post as it should be saved for posterity:

The top official of the World Health Organization said Tuesday that the disease caused by the new coronavirus has killed about 3.4 percent of those diagnosed with the illness globally — higher than what has previously been estimated. By comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1 percent of those infected, said WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Earlier estimates had put the coronavirus death rate in a range of about 2 percent, but officials have been hamstrung by the difficulty in getting an accurate count of those who may have had mild illnesses and not sought treatment. Despite a total of 90,893 reported cases of covid-19 globally, including 3,110 deaths, containment is still possible — and necessary — to save lives, Tedros said.

The biggest impediment to doing so, he said, is “the severe and increasing disruption to the global supply of personal protective equipment — caused by rising demand, hoarding and misuse.” He called on governments and manufacturers to boost production and secure supplies for critically affected and at-risk countries.

FOR CONTEXT OF THE SIGNIFICANCE

But I just wondered if they're still using extreme measures to beat this thing, as that might be the route we have to follow. I stopped following coronavirus updates for about 4 days and now I check and Italy has roughly 2000 infected with 80 deaths, that's a death rate of 4% which is quite bad.

I wonder how bad it can be if we don't take the same extreme measures as China. I just don't think western society would listen, unless they had a gun pointed in their face.

What the hell does that have to do with this discussion?

“You should never destroy your own credibility. And you don't want to go to war with a president,” Fauci, who has been the country’s top infectious diseases expert through a dozen outbreaks and six presidents, told POLITICO in an interview Friday. “But you got to walk the fine balance of making sure you continue to tell the truth.”

And the truth about coronavirus? “I don't think that we are going to get out of this completely unscathed,” he said. “I think that this is going to be one of those things we look back on and say boy, that was bad.”

3.4% is an average - it's much higher if over 80 - much lower if under 60 or 50. Higher again if you don't get proper medical care - lower if you have great care. Singapore has 0 deaths. SK is low. Italy and Iran are high.

Needless to say - it's much worse than the flu, and I'm baffled at the U.S. response so far. They seem to be a week behind, and their preparation is terrible. Airports - seems like no plan in place at all. Testing is a joke right now, between how much is being tested, and who pays for it. Singapore.. SK.. proactive. U.S. - they couldn't be more reactive if they tried.
