SOUNDS LIKE WE ARE HEADING FOR WAR

NCHEON, South Korea – South Korea's government held an emergency meeting Thursday on repercussions from a North Korean artillery attack as Washington and Seoul prepared for joint drills involving a U.S. nuclear-powered supercarrier.
North Korea, meanwhile, lashed out at the United States and South Korea, warning of more "retaliation" if Seoul carries out any "reckless military provocations."
The bombardment Tuesday of a tiny South Korean island along a disputed maritime frontier killed at least four people, including two civilians, sparked a brief skirmish and alarmed world leaders including President Barack Obama, who reaffirmed plans for joint maneuvers with Seoul in the Yellow Sea starting Sunday.
The North made no specific mention of the joint military exercises involving the aircraft carrier USS George Washington. But, it warned, its "military will launch second and third strong physical retaliations without hesitation if South Korean warmongers carry out reckless military provocations."
The North's statement said Washington was to blame for South Korean artillery exercises earlier in the week near disputed waters which prompted the North to respond with its artillery barrage on Yeongpyeong island Tuesday.

Washington "should thoroughly control South Korea to ensure they won't continue adventurous military provocations" such as violation of the countries' disputed sea border, it said.
The warning was issued by North Korea's military's mission at the truce village of Panmunjom and was carried by the country's official Korean Central News Agency.

I agree that people are undermining the US military in whole, but don't be so quick to judge others, Australia is friendly, very nice people there, they even stood side-by-side with our soldiers in Iraq.

North Korea is led by madmen who will, sooner rather than later, get their wish for death. I personally believe that it was they who sneaked over here last month and launched a missile off a submarine off Los Angeles. They are pushing a little too hard and it won't be long now before long overdue justice finds them.

What we are doing in the middle east is illegal, immoral and based on lies. We have no business there and never had. The Koreas, on the other hand, is a part of the world where we do have a legitimate presence. North Korea will never bow to reason. There could be an internally launched coup but it is very unlikely and to fail would be too costly. The South and USA must act soon to rid the country of dear leader and his buds. If they do it quickly enough I believe that many in the people's army will simply sit and do nothing or disappear into the hills to wait it out.

If we must be a war let's at least finish what we started when I was 10 years old. I'm 69 now. There is no suffering like to that which the people of North Korea must bear. In the winter school children must bring their family's # to school where it is dried and used as fuel to heat the classrooms. This, while dear leader watches porn and masturbates.

How about the imperialist Japenese, Germans on the western front (whom where 35 years more advanced than any other country), the Italians, the same group of jihadist that defeated the great Soviet Union, Desert Storm while Iraq was considered to be a strong military foe, We never lost a single battle in Vietnam or Iraq just moral support by the civillians smarty.

Sorry Im just sick of hearing how our military is not strong enough from these people from outside the U.S. whom sit back as there country does little or nothing to combat these issues such as Nuclear Non-Proliferation or Proliferation of anti-aircraft weaponry to groups like the Haqqanni network whom is a close ally to our very Usama Bin Laden. The South must be taken as serious as the North when they say the will retaliate with enormous strikes if the North provokes. My question to you who underestimate our military might: where is your country during this time of crisis of epic proportions? If you dont fear our strength I know a 4 foot North Korean Dear Leader that does not want to taste it.

Before i go on, i must say i don't hold a hatred towards America or her Military. I'm just annoyed at ignorant Americans who believe they are superior to all and how their Military is unbeatable. When in fact it's close to the total opposite. Off-course i don't blame those people as they don't know better thanks to their government and the media. Your military is strong no doubt. But when on it's own. It always crumbles due to many factors. A simple look back into history to the present day will confirm this. I'm from Australia and it's safe to say, we've done our part in pretty much every major war that's taken place. We're just left out of the spotlight all the time.

Concerning North Korea. They need to be taken down, but by push and shove means? No way! Not when they have a Nuclear weapon in their hands. You can't take that chance, especially when it comes to a nation that wouldn't hesitate firing that sucker.

I in no way advocate war in the slightest. I have lost family in wars, but the South must envoke its right to protect its people and we must reain a strong and steadfast partner in whatever decision the South makes. We must show no cracks in our partnership with them. And I greatly respect Australia for the steadfast partnership in the WOT which has effected them and many others as well.

Waiting for it to collapse on it's own is kind of crazy when you know that at least 10 000 people were forced to do CANNIBALISM in 2005 in order to survive... but still no mass uprising...

When you are forced down to CANNIBALISM and you still don't revolt... yeah you'll NEVER EVER revolt.

However you want to cut it, sh@% is going down in the waters around Korea/China. From the Washington Post:

"Pointedly, the Obama administration is sending the George Washington, four companion ships and at least one high-tech attack submarine into the Yellow Sea, off China's coast - the same sea where the administration decided not to hold exercises in July because of boisterous Chinese protests."

www.washingtonpost.com...

If there were any questions about the tensions between the US and China on this matter, I think this clears them up pretty nicely. If anyone remembers World History, they'll surely remember the "Powder Keg" in the Balkans that started WWI. We have a similar situation going on here. Multiple countries stubbornly backing their allies with a major military buildup in the area. All this situation needs right now is a match, and BOOM!

Maybe I'm misreading the situation though. Hopefully this can be diffused without resulting in a war, or worse, the start of WWIII.

We fought the Japanese and Germany when they had been ravaged by years of war already.

We nary won a battle in vietnam, considering it was guerilla warfare. Not many 'battles' to be won.

Iraq was not considered a true level foe by anyone except the u.s. media. "They had the fifth biggest army in the world" yeah yeah yeah, but have you bothered to look up the dropoff after the big 4?

The US is not invincible. And has not faced a modern military superpower in a VERY long time.

I dont believe that most Americans believe our military is unbeatable, I could have a barbershop discussion where alot would say China or occasionally Russia. I just think we deserve more credit for the ability to squash confrontation just with the simple message of occasional stick in this case a supercarrier with a little carrot that weve already put on the table. A few years back China theatened Taiwan for not repatriating with invasion, we sent the Nimitz and things cooled quickly. Whether we like it or not there are times many may not understand what our President appearently has and that is we must show stick in order for some to bite the carrot as the North is trying to do themselves.

And who has partner? Did we win no battles in Korea? Who was the Japenese engaged in battle with when they attacked Pearl Harbor? The already defeated Chinese and Koreans being used as sex slaves? How about Italy on the North Africa front? Were they battle tired as well? should we have sent them pascifiers?

Germany may have been on their Eastern front where the Soviets tore them a new one. But there were plenty of US and UK bombs ravaging Berlin and other major civilian and industrial locations before D-Day. The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor at the height of their power. If they weren't they would not have attacked!

We won almost all Major battles and still lost the war. Man, you really need to crack open some real history books

The US is not invincible. And has not faced a modern military superpower in a VERY long time.

When the Soviet union collapsed so went the only other REAL super power. Until China finishes Growing up then maybe some day there will be another Real Super power. Don't confuse having a Nuclear stockpile and a bunch of Weapon systems with being a real Super power. There is the economic, Military, Scientific and Social contributing factors to be considered a Real Super power.

If that wasn't the case then Russia would still be considered a Super power they have a 20% larger Nuclear stockpile than the US.

South Korea strengthens military near border

SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korea ordered extra troops deployed on islands near North Korea on Thursday with Pyongyang warning it would follow its latest bombardment with more attacks if its wealthy neighbor tried any "provocations."

"(North Korea) will wage second and even third rounds of attacks without any hesitation, if warmongers in South Korea make reckless military provocations again," the North's KCNA news agency quoted a statement from the military as saying.

What exactly is your point? You gave false statements. I corrected you.

I'm not going to talk about Pearl Harbour, as you and I will definitely disagree on what happened there.

I'm not sure what you are getting at with your pacifier comment....I didnt argue the statement about italy so you're on your own with that one....

Again, not touching on the Pearl Harbor deal. That is a topic for another discussion. i will simply say I dont buy the OS for a second.

As for Vietnam, there were 6 major battles in that war. 6. And we won those, while getting our asses kicked up and down the countryside.

I truly think you are underestimating the power of both russia and china. Semantics aside, neither one of these nations would be a cakewalk for the US.

As I have said so many times before, I dont doubt that the US *COULD* win a war with any nation in the world. What I have an issue with is the idea that there is no way the US could lose.

Arrogance is a weakness.
