I have to get this off my chest. You know what got on my goat about his visit? The 'entourage' of American press that follows him around required us to completely refit our National Press Club to accommodate them. By this, I mean $65 million dollars was spent on 'Americanising' it - with such things like the "Toilet" signs being changed to say "Washrooms", they were provided with left-hand drive vehicles, an endless source of donuts (i'm deadly serious)....all that sort of nonsense. What the hell? Are Americans so closed off from the outside world that they can't even slightly integrate into the culture of the country who is hosting them? Are they THAT arrogant that they need everything changed to be American everywhere they go?

They're in a different country, yes, but we speak English, practice democracy, are nice people and have an alliance with your country......so again I ask WHAT THE HELL?

How many starving people could $65 million feed? This is one of the few times I wish I could get away with swearing on ATS.......# me.......

Yesterday a team of technicians and chefs worked to fit it with satellite dishes, internet connectivity and an enormous supply of doughnuts - ''brain food for American journalists'', according to the club chief executive, Maurice Reilly.
Specially fitted wall-clocks showed the time in both Canberra and Washington, CNN news was streamed live onto giant wall-screens, and the toilets had been transformed into ''Washrooms'', according to the signs.

Yes everything can be made in the US and should, but the factories are gone. And then you want to blame the people for that and then you somehow blame Ron Paul for it too. The only Man in my whole life who has openly spoken out against this crap. Have you not noticed they don't want the people to even know about Ron Paul and his stance. He wants to close those loop holes and make it way too expensive for Big Corp to outsource labour to other countries who slave their people out to us and the world. He wants to get rid of the crony capitalism.

I don't want to get off topic, but If we elect Ron Paul, he will make sure we pull out of your country until you ask for aid and we will help like an ally should.

Why would i look like an ass? For telling the truth maybe. Change the signs to washroom all you want because I cant ever recall seeing a "washroom" sign. Donuts are not even a staple food in U.S. Chinese food and Pizza are.

It really isn't that much different to America, we call some things different names and perhaps Aussies are a lot more relaxed in general but honestly it's nothing an American or anyone else for that matter should be afraid of sharing with us or learning about.
