I find it odd that it is day of sacrifice when it is clear they want to sacrifice everyone who is not of their faith.

It's not a day of sacrifice, it's a day of feast after the month of sacrifice they just made (Rammadan - where they can not eat from sun rise to sun set). Yes, they kill a goat and offer it to Allah. Then, they feast on that goat as a gift from Allah. Fun fact, they do nearly the same thing with all of their meat. What makes it "Halal" is that they pronounce the name of Allah over it. Wooooooo, spooooooky....

Also, I find it funny how the people who claim that the U.S. is so great because of our "freedoms" etc., love to point out that "we wouldn't get that kind of treatment in their country" (never mind that "their country" is now the U.S.) "so why should they get that here?" Simple, Simon; because we are not, nor do we want to be, those countries. You talk about being so much better, then you want to take a page out of a book you proclaimed inferior in the same breath. And why not trade them? We celebrate Christmas as a national holiday instead of the Green Corn Festival now. Because the Europeans came in and replaced the long-standing traditional holidays with the ones they wanted. Outlawed the previous holidays completely in some instances (Ghost Dance...Hula...). Time for a rotation, if you ask me.

Where'd you get "Slaughter Day"? Eid ul-Fitr is the full name of the holiday. Eid = Festivity. Fitr = breaking the fast. Simple research, people.

Unless of course that was you're version of "Winter Break"...but in that case, it would be "Torture and Death Break" for Christmas, and "Slaughter Day" would be more apt for Passover.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Some people want it called winter break because Christmas is not the only holiday that occurs during the break, not to somehow disrespect Christmas... Kwanza and Hannukah are during the same break, thus calling it Christmas break is a bit disrespectful to the other religions is it not? 2nd, who cares what it's called anyway if the break still exists??

Kids get Easter off and it's called Easter break, so much for that little theory of christian oppression lol. So why can't there be a day off just like Easter break if there are a lot of muslims in their school district? Bigotry is a disgusting thing.

see? if for each religious school holiday there was a day or two of education and discussion before it came - and all the kids could learn a little bit about the kids around them - actively discuss it. With real questions and answers - and golly who knows - music, film...show and tell. I would support that

the kids get a day off from school - like they care why - right?

oh, I know - the extra days off from school would be a real travesty - because it would so interfere with the amount of knowledge being crammed into their wee little heads now - why waste time learning about other people or their cultures?

I'm just waiting for an explanation of how the kids might get religious cooties...

Isn't....that the goal of every religion just about? Convert as many as possible, have everyone living under the "divine" or "holy" laws? Yeah, but it's terrible when Brown People do it!

IMO all religious holidays from school should be eliminated. Shorten the summer vacation by 2/3rds and have 3 mini vacations spaced out evenly instead (they could coincide with major religious days I bet). Celebrate/takeoff as needed and make up the missed work, simple.

Our entire school system needs an enema, it could be so much more effective and beneficial if people are willing to let go of outdated practices.

Dear, thanks for that post, I have followed what "peaceful Islam has done in the nations they are moving into" and it has nothing of tolerance in it, but rather change laws in the nations they are moving into while imposing their own believes and Islamic laws.

They are doing now what Christianity did during the dark ages, people wants to be so political correct that they don't see the crap behind the whole Islam holiday deal.

Very soon we will be bending over for midday prayers for Allah while Christians can not even have their minute of silence in the mornings, but is all good because is religious tolerance, at least lopsided.

I don't follow any organized religions but I can smell the crap behind this one one mile away.
