Here in the Bible belt where I live, the schools do not allow us to say "Christmas Vacation" anymore, instead it is winter break. So why can they celebrate "Slaughter Day"? I find that word and its practices deeply grotesque, potentially dangerous and offensive.

The "winter break" ordeal is nationwide as well. And I do agree that it should still be called Christmas, since that's what it is. But that also means that Muslims are allowed to celebrate their holidays and should be allowed equal footing on getting holidays off. It's a nice change from the Christian monopoly on federally acknowledged holidays and is a great example of freedom of religion (which I've really come to question the validity of recently).

Face it, if this is one of the oldest religions on earth and if it has done nothing to solve the separation, death and torture, slavery in their own countries how do they expect that a full blown world of the same w/ bombs and nuks is going to help?

I'm neither Christian, nor Muslim. But I can use my eyes, and I can use my brain to see what's going on. Both Christianity, and Islam are led by power hungry morons, who drag you around into wars and excuses for their pleasure. Certainly there are good people on both sides, but they're good because they don't feel the need to eradicate the other.

This thread and the unnecessary negativity towards the holiday is a prime example of why countries should not even exist. We have split up the world 100 ways to Sunday in an attempt to drive people away from each other and into little neat herds. We are all living on the same planet simultaneously. We should not be Americans, Mexicans, Japanese, but Earthians or Earthlings or however you would say it.

I'm glad they gave the holiday, any day that is a holiday to any race or culture should be observed. I didn't see any threads up when my school district, San Diego Unified, decided to stop observing Columbus Day and switch to Cesar Chavez instead.

No. If you're a citizen of the U.S.A, you are an American. Not African American, Irish, etc. One nationality, and American identity. If you're going to be an African American go back to Africa. If you're allegiance is not to our flag then leave. The Constitution is the government.

Anyone that denies the reality of a constant attack on Christians and Christianity are either blind or on the side of those against America. No school prayer, no praying during a football game, removing crosses from graves, etc. The ACLU itself is an unconstitutional organization. I wonder if any of you really know what this country is all about and even really care. It's about freedom and anything that would hinder your freedom or that of another is against the Constitution. Right, and how many times as an American have you discussed what nationality you are with others? It never comes up like a negative or something to start a war over or even an argument, just a fact as many of us are a mix of different cultures, but it has nothing to do with religion.

The world is changing, my friend. The old ways of religious domination are fading. You're not seeing some grand conspiracy against the world's TRUEst religion, you're seeing a species gradually shifting away from old, flawed ways of thought and embracing an increasingly evident truth; we're all in this together.

Why would GOD need a piece of paper to protect the rights he gave us? he really is an unimpressive god.

Our country is about tolerance, diversity, and making something greater than its individual parts. My nationality is my country of origin or citizenship. I'm a native born citizen. Nationality is not my ethnicity. I'm of mostly Scots Irish ancestry. I used to say I was Scots Irish American but again that's wrong and I didn't know better. I'm a truth seeker and I can only accept what is true. If you are an American, be an American. We're not citizens of the world, I am a citizen of these United States of America. People that say they're not need to get out.

You're wrong, and you are a sheep for the new world order. We are not all the same. You also completely misunderstand the Bill of Rights. The fact that those rights are Creator endowed. If a government can give you rights, it can take them away. Those rights we have in the Bill of Rights are given to us from God. No government can take them away and anyone against the Constitution is my enemy.

Christianity by the way is increasing even though persecution is greater today than ever before in history. The church is growing constantly in China. Nothing will stop the truth!

Were supposed to be persecuted. If youre not being persecuted then youre doing something wrong. Shatan (Satan) hates the truth, when youre not preaching the truth his attacks die down. When you are preaching the truth he gets pissed and sends you some persecution, he loves ignorance. YAH only gave us free will, the ability to make choices, he gave us his laws and we forged man's rights and laws off of his template.

It isn't right to force people to remove cross tombstones from graves, or to remove crosses from roadsides where believers loved ones have died in accidents, or to remove prayer from schools. You don't have to be a christian to pray, removing prayer from schools effects muslim, jewish, hindu and buddhist children as well. You should be allowed to pray to whomever you wish in a school setting and i will tell my kids that. I will not have anyone tell my children that they are not allowed to pray to our heavenly father Yeshua ha Meshiach (Jesus the Christ), that is their choice and the gift from YAH (God) that no one can take away.

So since Christians have their own holidays Christmas(no matter how commercialized it has become its still "Christian" based) and now muslims have their own holiday off. Now since muslims are allowed prayer time in schools and their own prayer rooms..should Christians be allowed to pray in school and have their own prayer rooms as well?....Just sayin' you can't have it both ways.
