That's great. The science behind contrail formation is on the face of it quite simple (water vapor condenses in the cold air). But the precise mechanics of how a persistent spreading contrail forms are actually quite complicated, and have to do with the difference between frost point and dew point.

I am asking if 'chemtrails' could be made up of different substances, that vary from one type of chemtrail to another - if chemtrails were real.

Why is it that every single chemtrail in the sky must be made up of identical ingredients (if there are chemtrails in the sky). Wouldn't there be different chemical combinations dispersed in chemtrails, each used to obtain a desired effect?

I am not a chemtrail believer, or non-believer. I am just a person who has curiosity about the subject and I would -as anyone who has a health concern for relatives, friends, and their own personal future should - like to know if their is something happening that can poison my body and mind.

I guess if Chemtrails were real then yes they could be made up of different substances. But for that to happen it would be extremly unlikely that chemtrails and airliners would be linked. I think this because the most likely way that airliners could be creating these chemtrails is if it is burned in the fuel, which is what I believe many peoples theories are based on. Jet gas is delivered in huge amounts of bulk. Where I live it comes straight off a tanker ship in a harbour, goes through underground pipelines and ends up in those huge fuel tanks that you see around airports. I don't know how many thousands of gallons are stored in these tanks, but it's a huge amount. I just don't see that it would be feasable to change the apparent chemicals added to this on a whim based on what effect is required.

And as all airplanes at at particular airport all use the same fuel supply, it's not likely that some could spray something and others something else.

But, a little understanding of the combustion process dispels that notion quickly. Still, it is brought up by some people who simply don't think it all the way through first.

There are other technical issues (besides the tremendous heat that would break down any substance when burned) that involve fuel density, properties if altered with some foreign material, and the long-term effects then on the health and maintenance of the components, ad of course the engines themselves.

Yes, I'm in total agreement with that, pretty much anything added to the fuel would be obliterated by heat anyway. I was answering the quoted theoretical question why the chemicals can't be switched depending on what is apparently needed.

I just found by the way that those tanks I was talking about are million gallon tanks, so that's 5 million gallons of fuel at my airport. Unlikely that could be altered depending on what is needed.

So glad there's a post about this. I took pictures of chem trails woven across the Ohio sky the other day. I've noticed that it's particularly bad on really nice days. The few days I noticed it, it was unseasonably warm. We ate outside on Saturday. I've also noticed the weather suddenly become very chilly after they appear. My guess, like others, is that chem trails are there in order to make weather shift.

It is due to approaching cold fronts. It is meteorology, plain and simple.

The prevalence of the contrails is due to the approaching weather systems....NOT the other way around.

Truly, this is stunningly simple to understand.......perhaps if one read the rest of the thread, instead of just the Opening Post....before adding their comments??

No Chemtrails in Chicago, IL today. It was very cloudy with strong winds. They have finally stopped their Chemtrail spraying after 6 days straight. For the entire week the weather man said it was supposed to rain, it never did!

Tomorrow is Monday, let's see what they will do, Chemtrails must be sold to you!@

Yep - the contrail conditions have passed over eastwards - just like the forecast says

and if you go back and run that forecast for the last week or so you'll see that Chicago was forecast to get them pretty much every day.

You would probably just not notice them if there was a lot of cloud cover - so yeah, they stand out more when it's a clear day.

As has been pointed out, it is the otehr way around - thet weather causes conditions to be conducive to making contrails appear - eg

- contrails tend to form where the cirrus clouds are at the top-right - the image is from here - which also gives an explaination

I live in indianapolis and me and my buddies were sitting in the car for about a hour and watched it go from clear skies to planes covering the skies with clouds. Is it clouds? Or is it posion "Contagion" All theses people falling ill, students, fireman, kids, and this all started after heavy chemtrails over the midwest. After the massive chemtrail attack in the midwest i began to have symptoms of where theses people were falling ill.My girl friend also, i was wandering if anyone in the indiana region is having extreme headaches nausea just something you know isn't right...please comment back would appreciate it....JUST BECAME A MEMEBER OF ATS TODAY!!

It has long been argued, and suggested, that those who believe in so-called "chemtrails" do so with an almost religious fervor.

In fact, just as no amount of science, rational thinking, and lack of evidence of the "divine" will ever convince the hopelessly devout, so it is with this latest cult - think, of the so-called "Evils" of the so-called "Chemtrails".

apparently it was a cold October in Indianapolis this year - look at het heating and cooling day numers - if I am interpreting it right not so much heating as average, and the same cooling as average.

An Illusion of control for the elite. Prison camps and probably more brainwashing. You won't be seeing any great masterpieces like the Brooklyn bridge or Hoover's dam being built in America, you will see a lot of propaganda build up of the greatness of fast food and serving jobs.

I am now at the point where I wouldn't mind living in a primitive hunter gatherer society, with basic simple tools and thatched basket wooden huts and more of a wicker like way of life. Probably would be keeping dry during a hard storm, but I would adapt to it.

This nation and what's left of our Republic needs a couple of profound miracles to save it. Our literacy rate is going down we're getting fat and narcissistic on our world views. It won't be hard for the elite to throw us up in jails and prisons or eradicate a large group of us. Sorry no profound crystal hope vision for you, nothing like a Samuel Taylor Coleridge poem. We are living now in some really dark circumstances, call me a pessimist but geez how can you not be.

Cognitive dissonance I have had for the last ten years now, especially after the 9/11 attacks. I am not one of those people who are ashamed of being religious or creative and using both of them to fortify my own beliefs which may be just simply that, lacking proof as I don't have my personal private plane to go up there and collect chemtrail samples. Many others have though and I have no reason to discount their hard work in fighting this goliath of a conspiracy.

When I do research on my own about chemtrails, I run into things like "Holographic Planes" and "UFO Connection with Chemtrails," so really this field is better to keep plain and simple to my religious cult beliefs. Platonic science can see prove beyond the senses and my platonic mind knows these are real and most likely not good. That is why Plato appeals so much to true Christian believers. I wouldn't be surprised if he [Plato] saw this whole thing coming thousands of years ago, with his allegory of the cave. Keep staring there at the wall of the cave non-believers, but don't force me to accept your poison.
