Just caught occupiers stealing my water which we pay for.

No one asks to be born. No one asks to born into a society that has a price on everything.
No one owns the Earth. A long time ago some people decided to declare that they owned land.
No one questioned them they just paid up.

Now we live in a time where lots of people think they own land or a house or even water. The truth is not one of us own anything. Water is filled with flouride after coming from filtrated sewerage works.

Now someone who is dirty and does not ask permission for a bottle of filtrated sewerage water that is also full of flouride is probably doing what they are doing because they are thirsty. No one likes to be disrespected - even the OP. See how lost we all are worrying over water that does not belong to any one single person - regardless of the water bill. The water bill was created by a person who did not own the water nor did they ask permission to take money for the water.

If someone - dirty or not - was helping themself to some sewerage filtrated flouridated water - it would not be the cost that was foremost on my mind. I would ask myself how did humans come to be living this type of existence? I guess the Occupy *insert location* people are just trying to find their voice after being disrespected for so long. From what I gather they are wanting to ask the bankers why they have so much money while many don't have any.

Maybe the Occupy *insert location* people should ask permission to be alive and ask permission to breathe the air and ask permission to use their own brain to think their own thoughts....

The cabal/illuminati/whatever have created a total mess when it comes to society. And guess what they did not ask permission to mess with our Earth, our lives or our water. Who you going to call to complain?

you now see "these people" as self entitled jerks? You are basing your opinion on the entire movement on the actions of two guys. That is the epitome of ignorance.

Also two questions. First, how do you know they were protestors? Second, you say you now see these people as self entitled jerks implying you didn't before. Does that mean if I go through your old posts you wont have been consistently bashing OWS protestors ever since it began?

The problem with this angle on the greed:

In a revolution, you're seducing people to your side. The 99% is lucky for a 1-2% turnout, making them just as much a minority as the people they're against. As it is, this behaviour is the Has (he has water) vs. the Has Not (OWS don't have running water in a lot of places). Don't tick of the rest who are supposed to be just like you. OWS is not in the position to dictate terms yet, so yes these interlopers don't have the might, nor the right.

I love this argument. It's "just a few Nazis". It's "just a few Communists". It's "just a few thieves". It's "just a few heroin dealers." It's "just a few paid protesters". But, don't you dare judge the entire movement off of "just" a couple of bad apples. You're right, there are just a couple of bad apples. Only problem is, there are bad pears, bad grapes, bad carrots, etc.

It's not about the actions of "two of them". It's those two, and the other 50, and then a score over here and a dozen there. And, it's NOT petty over "a few bottles of water". It's theft, period. You don't just get to TAKE what isn't YOURS! Period. There are too many "isolated incidents" for it to bet truly "isolated".

Rather funny that you are saying that. First off if you own property you pay "gasp" a water tax. Second is this not the same group of people who are a tad miffed about the homeless and ex-cons coming for free food that was donated??? On principle stealing is stealing, whether a penny or a million dollars. Add in trespassing and where is the moral high ground?? Protesting is not a shield against wrongs committed. That is why ows has not got everybody jumping in with them. So up in arms about wall street but waves away any accountability amongst themselves.

Wow... there is a lot of animosity towards a guy who was just "standing up for his rights", which is exactly what OWS is supposed to be all about. People have a range of different motivations for almost everything in their lives, and the OP did mention he was slightly in favour of OWS before this incident, but this incident was the proverbial "straw that broke the camel’s back", that tipped him over the edge against it.

The amount of "it was just one guy, so don’t judge the movement" posts I've seen in various threads, and other sites, starts adding up to many more than just a couple of guys, and is indicative.

This seems to be heading the way of "which evil tyranny do I want to live under?"... the current establishment (which categorically has its problems), or the new rising establishment of OWS (which at the moment still looks a little like anarchy). This movement in no way addresses the fundamental nature of humans, who can be greedy, lazy, malicious or any other number of both good and bad traits, regardless of whether they are with the movement or not.

It takes all-sorts.

Now... we are only getting his side of the story, which means we are only hearing one perception of events, so likely it is worded to favor him, but that is a natural human tendency, as is protecting your individual rights and property. As I see it, it is not about the paltry amount at stake here, it is the principle of the actions.

I agree with many of the values and grievances being raised by OWS (not all), but most importantly I believe in people’s right to voice them, even if there are many contradictory voices... in fact that is what makes our world such a vibrant and interesting place.

So… Don’t begrudge the OP for voicing an opinion and standing up for his perceived rights; just as the OP didn’t ever say that the movement doesn’t have a right to exist at all, and for people to protest, only that his rightful "personal opinion" was that he currently doesn’t agree with it, due to actions of its participants.

People don’t have to put up with thuggery of any kind, whether it is from the establishment, or the movement. People should however respect other peoples’ rights, regardless of their situation. If people did there may be a greater peace and understanding in the world.

Be happy, polite and steadfast… that’s all there is to it.
