Explain creation and I will stop entertaining the thought of an after life. Face it atheists, all your hollering about science this and science that is bogus, science can only prove things to be false.

Physics allows for quantum fluctuations to spontaneously produce a universe from nothing.

I don't think that's the goal at all. I don't think TPTB, if they even exist, really care one fig for such a figure as God. I don't think they care for anything or anyone but themselves and money.

The Catholic church is the world's largest Christian church. And yes, some Christians as well as Catholics have molested children. But I'm sure some Atheists molest children too so it's all moot.

I'll agree. Somebody really needs to fill the Fox in tho. I just don't think her finger understands. The only entity that can ever be blamed as a whole is man. The one that atheism seems to take so much pride in being.

If there is a god (or God) then perhaps its existence is beyond your comprehension.

I will use an example from DUNE here about a person looking through a hole in a wall may not recognize a pig passing in front of it as a pig, but rather thinks that it is a nose causing a head causing a body and so on, when in reality it is a living breathing pig. ( I butchered this most likely). So all your steps to understand the world through science may just in fact be you watching a pig (or God/god) through a hole in the wall.

I don't claim any religion I real just came to heckle some of the atheists who annoy me with lame generalizations about spaghetti monsters and sky wizards. LoL like that guy who thinks religion kills more people than warfare (oh if you don't like the wording then just turn it around on me and say that all wars are started on religion. . . ). Most people realize that war usually is fought to gain land and riches and that religion is just an excuse.

I think that if the only reason people act in a moral way is due to fear of some divine retribution, we're screwed anyway. People shouldn't base their actions on fear, when you do that, s#!t will eventually hit the fan. Be a good person because you want to, be a good person because it makes you smile. Besides, it's the logical thing to do. Ever hear the proverb about the sun and the wind?

Except there is one difference. In some cases in which the priests activities were discovered, the catholic church chose to protect the priests. Here is an excerpt from a NY times article involving one case

When the church behaves this way, to me, it's the same as condoning the behavior.

Or maybe religion aint quite as cool as it used to be. So far it just seems like being in a gang with a spiritual twist. Look how many BS religions are floating around like they are the lastest fad. Your only a certain type of religious if you were brought up in a religious family or were raised a certain way.

A guide on how to pick your religion: If your born in India you are generally Hindu or Hare Krishna. If your born in America or Australia you'll likely be a Christian. Middle Eastern would probably make you Muslim. What makes you think any of those beliefs are more plausible than Scientology or Mormon beliefs? You all read different old outdated books and claim that all the other gods are fake. STUPID!

Realize that you are an individual and you control your own destiny! God, Krishna, Jesus, Mohammed and all the other gods arent some posse floating around in the friggin clouds waiting to welcome you into Heaven or send you to Hell. They are only fictional ideas that were served up many years ago as the start of profiting cults when there were no alternative beliefs in those listed geographical areas. Look how many cults we can choose from now! And guess what they are all the only way to ascend to heaven! Hope you all pick the right one! Mwahahaha!

TPTB do not promote Atheism. TPTB promote all and any religion. They use guilt trips for sins and fear factors for god. Religious people are easier to control in masses...

It's about "your" actions here on earth. Do you follow your heart and sense for justice or are you seduced by the freedom of atheism?

Following your heart is what satanist and new agers do, they have no fixed moral compass either. Its exactly the same as Anton Levi says 'Do what though shalt'.

Instead atheists gauge morality based on what society tells them, or if you like, today, its what the TV and the education system tells them. Its not far off 'Do what though shalt' really. TV promotes this 'life is a playground, do what feels right' garbage too. But not completely, society has retained the values that helps governments control us.

In 1930s Germany, society told them it was okay to persecute certain minority's who where sub human according to science of the day. In China it seems to be okay to harvest peoples organs who are criminals and steal unlicensed baby's, and in the western society, if you have more than two kids, are overweight, Christian, or poor, you are the one who is persecuted.

I wonder how many atheist kids will grow up and say they learned right and wrong from 'My wife and kids' or 'According to Jim', etc.

This is an excellent read on the problem with theism/atheism.
None of the parts actually listen to each other, both camps are filled with biased prejudice.

I like the post that says, the only thing we can blame for the historical acts of cruelty is MAN. Not religion, not philosophy just MAN.

And a little tip for the atheists here in the thread, do not assume that we are all born into our faith, some of us change our faith, just like we change our points of view, when presented with something more rational and logical.

Just because you believe in the creation from nothing, does not make it more right than the theory of creation from something.

It is an medieval thought that there is some MAN in the sky, watching our every move, and dictating laws to us.
First oxymoron any believer can tell you is that; You are born with free will, therefore you must follow some omnipotent entity's will.

I am not sure that TPTB promote atheism, I am sure that the promote anything that causes strive and diversion between their fellow brethren, people arguing internally is much easier to control, no matter what religion or none-religion people follow.

And lastly, will the atheist in this thread please stop to constantly lie about what atheism means, like it have some fixed definitive meaning! It can mean: (but no exclusively)
1: none-belief i.e. there is no god
2: lack of belief i.e. i have no thought either way if there exists a god

Sorry for the confusion, I was taking gnostic in the small-g sense, not the capital-G sense. I wasn't trying to give the impression that you were saying I was going to hell, but I've been told as much, directly, by theists of the Christian persuasion on these forums. So I stand by my statement - as far as I know, only theists, ones of the Abrahamic flavor, have told me that I'm an inherently immoral person and am going to hell because I'm an atheist.
