ATS Reality: CoIntelPro, Shills, Freemasons, and Socks: The Definitive Guide

I love this site, but I feel like there is a bit of censorship going on here.

They're slowly working it in.

I created a thread today pointing out the fact that the thread "Humanoid creature stalking me" has almost 600 replies, 52 flags, and is over 30 pages long without a shred of evidence. The thread was deleted/404'd immediately after I posted it with a vague explanation that didn't justify deleteing my thread.

If it's another hoax, which it most likely is, why do we continue giving these people attention and thereby hurting the integrity of the content here at ATS?

Why does ATS not want me to point this out?

The thread is most likely a hoax. However it isn't proven to be so shouldn't be moved to the hoax forum yet. You have to give the guy time to hang himself if he's lying.

Your thread was most likely removed because the place to post your comments would be in the thread itself. Simple. No conspiracy there mate and I'm on the lookout.

There are some interesting things happening on here. However, you need to watch carefully and follow what's happening. Patience is a virtue and it's never as simple as you think. Wild accusations are pointless - even from the site owners.

I agree, but I'm not saying it should be moved to the Hoax bin.

I'm pointing out how ridiculous it is that not only is it on the front page, but it has almost 600 replies and is over 30 pages long. 52 members flagged it!

I know a bunch of thought-provoking threads that don't get half of the attention this thread has gotten, and it's a sign of the times here on ATS.

These "hoax" threads get SO MUCH ATTENTION.

We normally answer questions like this via U2U, and indeed, that is always a better alternative. But if you really want to discuss this publicly, then fine.

You started a thread that labeled a fellow member a "hoaxer" and an example of "what's wrong with ATS". Attacks of that sort on fellow members are strictly prohibited by the terms & conditions, even in "Rant", and you really should know that by now.

Your thread was trashed because it violated the terms & conditions. Similar threads, regarding of which member they target or where they appear, are subject to the same action. Removing such dross has nothing to do with "censorship" and everything to do with maintaining an environment where members can share their views without being attacked.

If you disagree, fine. Say so in the appropriate thread and say why. It ain't rocket science.

If you think there's a problem in general, fine. Say so, but don't try to pillory someone in the process. That's just wrong on so many levels.

Finally, and with the acknowledgment that I should probably hold my tongue, I would like to point out to everyone who sees fit to air their personal grievances over some perceived slight in this thread to read this:

Why Me?

As this thread so richly demonstrates, there were good reasons for writing it, and it really does answer most of the charges made about moderator decisions. People who choose drama queenery over sensible resolution only undermine their own credibility.

Seriously, does anyone complaining about being mistreated actually think we can't look up what happened and see that they are either lying or hopelessly mistaken?

Please please PLEASE! If you have a disagreement with a mod, just send a U2U and work it out.

It is always preferable to attempting -- and failing -- to drum up public support with unfounded innuendo.

Trust me on that.

Wow, this is Crazy!!!

I just created a new thread in the rant forum. The rant forum says something like "this is where to go to get anything off your chest as long as it's not attacking another member."

I created a thread just now called "Trolls getting attention and censorship on ATS"

IT WAS IMMEDITAELY DELETED

This is my OP

-START OP- 'This rant has two parts but both combine as one. BTW, I post this because I care. Corny, I know.

First off, even though there has been an uptick in hoax threads promising something and not delivering, on the front page of ATS is a thread promising something, and not delivering.

This thread has almost 600 replies, 52 flags, and is over 30 pages long and provides no pictures, no proof, as usual.

If you're wondering why I'm being so vague, it's because I just created a thread pointing all this out in greater detail, linking to the thread I'm talking about. I stated how this is a shining example of what's wrong with ATS, and asked why is it the ATS membership likes to be "taken for a ride" so often, instead of refusing these people attention until proof is shown.

My thread was immediately deleted.

Apparently, the Mods and Owners here at ATS don't want anyone talking about any of this, or questioning the motives/mindset of the ATS membership.

Nothing in my deleted thread was offensive, as I am well aware of the rules.

This is censorship, and there is no other way to put it. -END OP-

First off, I appreciate you coming right out and addressing this. As I would rather participate in a discourse on this subject PUBLICLY so that all members and mods can follow along. Who knows? Maybe a lesson can be learned from this.

I don't feel like I "attacked" any other member.

Do you disagree with me that -

1) It's silly that a thread like that has garnered so much support and attention, yet providing nothing in terms of proof or pictures?

2) The ATS membership is gettin younger and more gullible.

3) Threads containing outrageous claims without proof shouldn't make it to the front page. (First time visitors would laugh at ATS for seeing such nonsense on the front page, GREAT FIRST IMPRESSION THERE)

4) I should be ostricized for pointing this out?

I'm not being unreasonable here, I'm just concerned with the direction ATS is heading.

So if you're unable to accept the word of ATS owners and staff that this site isn't some "CoIntelPro" operation, how is that you feel comfortable enough to stay and post -- knowing that potential counter intelligence operatives would have access to your information and private messages?

I think the NSA or whatever agency the U.S uses for Cyber Intel has access to all Information(Not sure) on the Internet or most of it i guess.

I was more pertaining to the Thread 404's (Thought-Police). But that's probably just my conspiracy self going crazy

You have serious issues, and it makes me wonder why you are still here if you are "so" convinced that the staff "could" be COINTELPRO...serious, get over it. We can never know for sure unless we were actually the owners of the site.(All we can do is take their word for it)

Anyone who denies the possibility of ATS being COINTELPRO etc is just being short-sighted and ignorant.

Keep the tinfoil hat handy, it may actually serve a purpose.
At least, keep the brain on. I would love to trust this site, and take the word that is given me. But, I have too many questions, and many questions don't seem to get answered.
But, I love ATS, or at least, I love what it stands for. I am not convinced it is standing as tall as it pretends to, however.

When I first became a mod, one of the most exciting prospects for me was being able to peek into the Trash Bin and see all the stuff ATS mods were "censoring". Just like most everyone else, when I saw a thread disappear from the public forums, I assumed there was some nefarious reason for it.

So what happened in my first glorious round of dumpster diving? To be blunt, it was quite possibly the most disappointing experience I've ever had on ATS.

No great secrets, no grand cover-ups. Turns out the Trash Bin is very aptly named.

That doesn't mean there isn't some good stuff in there, but it's in a very tiny minority, and it was trashed not because of some malignant agenda, but for violating some aspect of the T&C.

Typical examples are copypasta lifted from other sites, ads, spam, porn, gore, drug use, personal data or attacks against people, stuff like that.

I know it's titillating to assume we're all a bunch of NWO shills out to suppress the truth, but in defense, I offer the content of ATS itself. To actually read what our members post and somehow conflate that with some sort of shadowy agenda requires almost supernatural powers of self-deception. Not that such powers don't exist, but seriously.

All people have to do is read.

And now, having ranted much too long when this thread is really for the admins to address the matter of CoIntelPro, Shills, and Socks, I'll endeavor to return to the shadows and do whatever it is us mods are supposed to be doing.

Though I hope I may have been able to offer some insights for the curious, I am sorry for the digressions.

The problem is, they won't admit it.

They'll just hide behind private messages and try to make anyone who questions the mods decisions/motives look like a lunatic. They sound very much like the government with their responses and reasoning.

Umm, no. I posted my post four minutes before you posted yours. Presumably -- and this is something every ATSer has no doubt experienced -- you were composing your post and didn't see mine in the intervening period.
