For the less internet savvy among us, I present to you, the first result of a google search of the term 'wu mao'.

Bill, please don't ban me for what I am about to bring up. You alluded to it when you mentioned CatHerder's "757 hit the Pentagon" thread in your op. There was more to it than just King Lizard's April Fools joke. Apparently, there was a Creative Commons issue with another website regarding commentary and attribution on that thread on their site back in January 2006. It went back and forth and got a little heated.

What came out of it and what still has me curious was an investigation by Laura Knight-Jadczyk into Simon Gray and the Lincoln Group and where the funding came from that gave ATS its jumpstart to becoming the megasite it is today.

So, I am going to ask you straight out, and please don't take it wrong. I am pursuing the truth, which is the flip side of denying ignorance.

Is Simon Gray really Christian Bailey aka Christian Jozefowicz-Seifert, and did his Lincoln Group receive a $100M contract from Rumsfeld's DOD

to help to fight the information war in Iraq. It then emerged that the company was paying Iraqi journalists to plant optimistic news “stories” in Iraqi papers that had been written by the US military.

Yeah, it was strange. Especially since all we wanted was a link-back to the original.

Not an "investigation," a farce. It's totally false. They relied on the April Fools joke as their original justification for their amateur-hour farcical investigation, not realizing the had they wrong "Simon Gray" and actually assumed our Simon was someone of a different name.

It's false.

Has no merit.

And is insulting.

You should also work a little harder and consider the credibility of the sources casting aspersions on ATS.

I have looked into it and I do consider sources. You can find dirt on just about anybody if you look hard enough. It is common practice for The Establishment to attack the credibility of whistleblowers. Look at Gary Webb, Bunny Greenhouse, General Shinseki, and many others who had the temerity to stand up to The Man.

You are doing the same thing to Laura Knight-Jadczyk, and through her, me. Go for it. I don't think its helping your case.

I am a nobody.

I personally don't care past the point of curiosity how ATS was funded or who started it for what reason. You made your case in your op that it is not a disinfo site. I responded with the questions I had in regard to that topic and the identity of the site's founder. I used a valid link to a reliable source for reference. I didn't link to Laura Knight-Jadczyk's article on the subject, and I won't.

You are clearly grandstanding in front of your acolytes while questioning my motivations with your aspersions and thinly veiled threats. If that makes you feel better, go ahead. Like I said from the start of my post on this subject, I don't want to get banned.

I know that in the end all the machinations and obfuscations of man will come to naught. The light will shine into every dark corner and all will be revealed. That's good enough for me.

Well I'll tell you something SkepticOverlord, I usually give in to what my gut feeling is about things before believing or disbelieving and honestly, I can't see how you guys could possibly be involved in any outside source.

I guess this is what happens when people are so entrenched in their own beliefs and conspiracies of the "big bad government" that even places that are designed to allow talk, discussion, fact sharing etc of conspiracies will no doubt be accused eventually with lies all over the place.

Make no mistake. The days of quiet capitulation regarding these issues are over. If you come here and propose that spiteful lies about us spewed from a vindictive person may be true, you can fully expect I (or Mark, or Simon, or Crakeur or any other Admin) to be firmly in your face and pissed.

A skilled disinformation agent, you would never detect them. I think their techniques are much more subtle and powerful now. They are not going to be stupid trolls.

If you look at classic examples, say for example in the UFO community, people like Philip Klass, they played the role of scientific skeptic and debunker to the hilt. But that pose was blown a long time ago, when Hynek came out and admitted they were basically sent in to discredit reports.

The sophistication has to be much more extreme now. Since most of this stuff is outsourced, you can be sure that they use state of the art social media web metrics and analysis to track relationships that a commercial company like Zynga uses. A company like that can look at your Facebook profile and almost predict whether or not you will play their stupid games, let alone who you vote for.

A black budget social media project, as was hinted about by those clowns at HB Gary who got exposed, would run deeper than that, since it's totally taxpayer funded and has no market to compete in.

Something like what Antifascist writes about in his latest blog post. Billions and billions of dollars wasted on cyber security contracts to monitor people, while liberties erode and criminals get rich. That's what is all about.

Just as the ATS Members are people...so too are Staff...

I'm aware there has in the past been a fair bit of speculation...and lets be fair outright accusation...as to who we/Staff may be.
Bear in mind that many of us have met one another in person...as have other Members who have attended any of the previous public/promotional gatherings held. So I have had a chuckle at some of what people have said previously as to who exactly is this person or that person...one Staff Member in particular would have to the youngest multi-national power-holder EVER if the speculation was in any way true.


The reality is we aren't that special.
We aren't that elite...we aren't that secretive - heck, ask my wife, I can't even buy something from TradeMe (our country's version of e-bay) without her finding out...

We're pretty much just average Joes and Joannes who come from - as cliche as it sounds - all walks of life.

Some of us are skeptics...some of us are believers in all manner of things. Again - check some of the freaky things I've posted, particularly in the Paranormal Section, and you'll get an understanding that my own beliefs are pretty 'out there' to many people.

Some of us are right-wing, left-wing, sit-on-the-fence-politically, or no-wing at all.
We're white, black, brown, yellow, red...all colours, creeds and countries.
City-slickers, country-bumkins, students, parents, employed, unemployed, retired...you name it.



I do appreciate that unless you're one of the few who have actually met some of us - and/or know some of us in real life...then all you have is our word. I most definitely appreciate the very nature of this site is to question.

All I ask is that people also remember that *user-name* they question does have a face, a life, a heart, a body...just as you do.

What I said then is still true now, and nothing I've posted here in this thread contradicts it. As a matter of fact, the thread you linked is where my curiosity started. CURIOSITY, not contention, not criticism, not claim. This thread seemed the best place to explore that curiosity. That's what I come to ATS for, to explore the things I am curious about. Guess I really struck a nerve.

Yeah, those conintelpro compensation checks really have me rolling in the dough. That must be why I have to go to the church pantry every week to get food for my son and his mother. I can pay the rent and utilities on this mansion I live in, but I fall short on food and fuel. Thank God for the people that know me and what I stand for and are willing to help out of the goodness of their hearts.

When your ears stop flapping about all this, I hope you start to feel really foolish for all the trouble you've gone to to put me down.

It's funny, but the surest way to see how false the accusation is, is to simply look at the mods' own posts.

With just a little digging, you'll easily see that many of us feel there are coverups, conspiracies, etc. in our own areas of interest. Hardly the position of those trying to be counterintel,etc.

Many of us are also skeptical as well. Which makes sense...as we reflect the makeup of the membership.

So, if you don't want to take our word for it, that's fine...the evidence is all over this site, available for all to see, that we too, seek the truth, and want to find it, versus any kind of hindrance.

Just my twopennorth, for what it's worth.

Is ATS perfect?
No

Is it what certain chancers and disgruntled ex-members accuse it of being?
No.

Someone has grasped onto something, twisted it into something it is not, and tried to make a career out of it i.e. make money.

Others, for their own reasons, have jumped on this as "proof" that this site is something it is not.

It's really rather sad that people stoop to this kind of bullstuff, and worse that it keeps getting regurgitated.

Do I think that anyone of the staff at ATS secretly work for the dark side? How could anyone other than them know for sure? Its nice that they say they dont. The only reason I think they dont resides in some of the TPTB damaging content that is allowed here. If they were, logic would dictate that the threads would disappear.

That said, one would have to be extremely naive to believe that this site isnt heavily monitored by TPTB. One of the reasons I say this is that a very close friend (roll eyes / heresay) used to be a member of the Parabats (think S. Africas Navy seals). His family moved to Canada after is service because the violence there was intolerable. Also, his sister works as a top systems analyst at NASA. He told me about an underground base that he has been in that is so big they land fighter jets in it. A hole opens in the ground, not the side of a mountain as one would think. While that might not be news to most here, this part might be. A large section of the base was dedicated to computers with hundreds of people manning them 24/7365. What were they doing? They are monitoring ALL digital and radio traffic, EVERYTHING from the internet, cell and land line phones, to even the entire radio band VHF/UHF.

No, they dont read or listen to every word but its ALL recorded. Key words or phrases bring up flags. A human looks at the flag and decides if its worth forwarding up the chain of command and thus it gets filtered. If a certain cell number or ip address has "bomb", "assassination", etc repeatedly, then it will attract closer scrutiny.

This was over 18 years ago; imagine the computing power now. The elite S. African (white) military was liaising with, and even training, elite US and Israeli units. They operated with impunity because of the unique political situation in S.A. at that time, and other friendly countries natually took advantage of it.

So believe me or not, I do believe my friend, and that is big brother is truly watching and recording, most definitely ATS

That is a naive thing to assume, your moderators are not all the same. In fact i was a moderator on a certain music website where a certain moderator went on a banning rampage and this went on for a good month. The site owner was lazy and did nothing about it during this incident. Basically the moderator was ready to quit modding so he thought he would go John Wayne on his way out. So it has happened.

The checks and balances that are in place to ensure that moderator actions are carried out as fairly as possible are astounding.

Well the system works but it is not a perfect system. It is as perfect as the fine oiled machine that is ATS, moderated by imperfect humans only capable of being human... over reacting and making haste decisions outside of TOS. A fool proof computer is not making the decisions here. From where you are sitting on the greener side of the lawn im sure you may be a bit biased since you are in fact a moderator. Where i come from we take our liberties and freedom of speech very serious as well as others to have that right even though they may not have them in certain countries, the internet is or last front of freedom and there should be no compromise. I just want ATS to be the best it can be, if we ignore these issue it will never evolve or progress. Without this everything is pointless.
