Although I can't locate them right now, I've seen some very interesting Whois search info on ATS that might suggest a connection to "Cointelpro"..

That in no way explains or will it justify the censorship i have witnessed here.

There is no censorship of topics other than what is defined in the Terms & Conditions.

However, if you talk about toasted bagels, but do so in an insulting manner, your post will be removed. But typically, the post author will assume we're censoring discussion of toasted bagels.

If one moderator sees another one do something wrong and from my experience will look the other way. Moderators do not police other moderators it is not their job. That is something the Site owners are responsible for. How often do you see cops rat on other cops?

You have not seen censorship on ATS. What you have seen is people who break the sites terms and conditions and then cry "censorship" when there own foolishness has been removed from the board. Your persistent accusation to the contrary is insulting to the staff who volunteer to moderate the board.

You have no idea about what goes on behind the scenes here, so your claim that moderators do not police other moderators is absolute garbage.

Well yes i agree and that is one thing, but again there has and will always be some form of bias. Moderators will sometimes make decisions based on emotion or irrational response at least. This is normal. However i have seen it get out of control to say the least, being irresponsible and not addressing the problem or explaining why they 404 certain threads. At least as a show of good faith would have been nice.

I don't think they were "lies", but might have been misinterpretations of technical info on server proxies and the like (I'm a 'puter idiot myself).

Something about the ISP or the domain name owner and proximity to a military base - something to that effect.

Didn't appear to be "lies", but could have been misinfo..

You just went around and over what i just said, you say you seen what i have seen?

So you are saying moderators in fact police other moderators here after all? Well then could you give me an example when and who ? A link or something to prove this is a fact or?

Yeah OK well i don't believe this is the case.

Could you clarify about the "lies"? Do you mean their Whois search data they put forward was falsified, is that what you mean?

I'm prepared to take your word for it, but some might be interested in what was presented and in what manner that info was falsified.

Yes.

However, no one on staff will discuss or provide examples... at least with contemporary staff members.

A good example are two former moderators that were each first bumped-down from "Super Moderator" to "Moderator," then eventually down to member, and then eventually banned.

Netchicken was originally demoted by Admin for pranking members and then removed from staff after admitting to stirring up drama on the boards just for the fun of it. In this case, there was a great deal of discussion among Admin and SuperMods once he was demoted to moderator.

ThomasCrowne was originally demoted by Admin for being overly abrasive in his interactions with members, and eventually removed from staff for having an intensely pro-Israel agenda such that he was incapable of moderating impartially. He removed several threads critical of the Israeli government, he was demoted, and the threads restored. Again, in this case, lots of discussion among senior staff.

Yes. And also using the fake IP addresses from an April Fools joke mentioned in the opening post of this thread.

Thanks for the reply, i think i remember that. Most likely if anything shenanigans are the case rather then some "cover up inside job" or a conflict of interest

After reading several posts one thing came to mind. Perhaps it's just how my mind works but, it was amusing enough that I figured I would share it.

#1 - The first rule of ATS is, you do not talk about ATS.

#2 - The second rule of ATS is, you DO NOT talk about ATS.

#3 - If someone says stop, goes limp, taps out, the Thread is over.

#4 - One starts a Thread...

#5 - One Thread at a time.

#6 - No shirts, no shoes (get comfy)

#7 - Threads will go on as long as they have to.

#8 - If this is your first night at ATS, you have to post.

Why not?

Since we are not under any influence by any government entity or persons, either now or in the past, one possible conclusion regarding those who would perpetuate the lies is that they themselves are paid "shills" working on CoIntelPro operations for the government. Perhaps actually one or two people operating several "sock puppets" on the Internet to spread this disinfo about us.

Seems fair.

Turnabout and all.

What the? You just went full circle on your OP? What's going on here? (I do enjoy ATS though. It takes awhile sometimes to weed through a thread with some of the trolls imo)

Except you were being asked a question rather than being accused of anything. I think Icarus was trying to deny his(?) own ignorance.

You own the site though. This is your yard. If you say it's OK to suggest a member is CoIntelPro without any evidence that then it must be, right?

Someone Who Disagrees Is Not Always a Shill

Following the above, passionate conspiracy theorists often fall into the narrow-thinking trap that those who don't share their opinion must be a shill sent to discredit. We see this quite a bit on ATS, and it's often very disheartening to see. The realm of conspiracies is just like anything else, a difference of opinion is most often just that and nothing more.

You seem to have thrown that little number at someone who was, "curious," about something. They didn't even disagree with you.

Netchicken? Tempting.....

food for thought: what if just one moderator was a CIA conintelpro agent? If they were then they could "sanitize" any threat to the agenda on ATS with the click of a button. Depending how much time they spend on ATS... some people i noticed will post here around the clock and i wonder if they ever sleep or work? Could it also be some accounts or even a moderator account is shared with outside interests? What if someone hacked a moderators PW or figured it out? What if they were "agents" and sock puppets? It is all quite possible.

Moderators are picked from members for a variety of reasons. Also all mod activities like warns, post removals and the like are logged in a staff forum for ALL staff to see. Also actions usualy come at the end of a staff discussion. If its a serious topic these threads can often go over 100 posts as all staff (including admin and owners) weigh in on the issue at hand.

As far as mods on at all hours there could be a variety of reasons: You and the mod in question are in the same time zone, The mod works odd hours (I ever few months have to work nights 2100 to 0900). Like the board as a whole the mod staff is a representation of ATS as a whole and for many of us our posting (or frequent spelling mistakes) styles are unique as they are with all members.

If the CIA or what have you has no assets and pawns on this site they still have systems that monitor every word spoken here and have the ability to influence discussion here with a bot I am sure.

Id put my money on the NSA keeping tabs. But let them look IMHO. I have nothing to hide here and post stuff I am more than willing to discuss openly to anyone anytime......
