This looks like the comet that was visible for about 3 days about 2 yrs ago

Can;t remember when exactly, but i'm in Australia and it was low in the afternoon sky.

lol well there's your answer, so pazcat nailed it on the head.

Seen it today for the third day in a row...did some research and it's Comet McNaught or something like that.


Comet McNaught

You can only see it just after the sun disappears but theres still a little light for bout 10-15minutes before it disappears below the horizon.

Edit: arn't comets supposed to be the bringers of doom or something like that?

I did say probably, it may not be but it's what it most likely would be.

ANd Comet Mcnaught was visible in 2007, this is not that.
It was visible for a number of weeks an was spectacular. Truly one of the best things I have ever seen.

Why has there been no mention of this comet? First time I heard of this one.

Definitely sunlit contrails.

The plane is flying away from the observer.

By the two trails on the zoomed in picture it is probably just a planes contrail being reflected by the sun.

Don't you begin to despair when people see these things and immediately jump to conclusions of comets, meteors, Nibiru or tears in the atmosphere?

I'm starting to think this site should change it's motto from "Deny Ignorance" to "Attract Ignorance."

It is CLEARLY an airplane flying away from the observer with it's contrail being highlighted by the sun.

I simply cannot believe that the people who post these videos have not seen these effects before. They must be deliberately hoaxing and should be treated accordingly.

What else could it be? The second we experience something we don't understand it has to be the end of the world right. Sadly most people on this site never read Chicken Little. I love how the author of this thread didn't even consider a prosaic explanation in the thread title.

Could be a dead satelite burning up on re-entry. I don't think it's contrails from a plane.
