New video. Comet Elenin? Ufo? or possible tear in the atmosphere?

I don't know what this is. I was searching for updates on Elenin and saw this video on youtube. According to him, the sun had already set.

Any thoughts? For some reason, Im thinking maybe yesterdays solar flare fractured the atmosphere a bit?

Looks weird.. Do you know where this video was filmed, the accent sounds a bit Aussie..

Interesting find OP. I seriously dont think its comet elenin, considering how far away it remains from us. At first I thought it may be a lone cloud that is reflecting sunlight which has obviously set or in the process of setting, it also looks like a tear in the sky, but at 3.24-3.35 in the vid he finally gets a real good focus on it for a brief 10 seconds & it sure is a weird 'V' Shape. Only thing I can think of is a meteor but it sure is a good find & I imagine a lovely sight to have witnessed. At sunset time we see some wonderfull things due to the sun coming in from different angles, I dont think its anything to worry about

It is not comet Elenin, that much is certain.
By the two trails on the zoomed in picture it is probably just a planes contrail being reflected by the sun.

Melbourne is the capital city of Victoria, Australia.

I ruled out Elenin cause of how far it is. However, I am thinking the solar flare was perhaps eating it's way through a hole already available in the ozone layer.

thats a good theory, but wouldn't we be able to see the plane? Maybe the clouds are masking and distorting the plane? Also it would be moving quicker and in a straight line, but hey you have a better idea of what it may be than I do lol.

Those are not contrails from a plane. First of all, they do not correlate with each other, they meet at one point and that point is about half of the event, and the brightness starts at one point but also occurs in the two extremities. That is certainly not a plane contrail.

I've seen this sort of thing around Heathrow Airport, though I'll admit they were not as bright as in that video.

tried to get a picture but as an iphone camera is pants all I got was a blurry sky!

and could it be the sun behind clouds? Not saying that its that, but could it be?

my guess is the meteor that exploded over Auckland... same night.... about 3 or 4 hours later..

Something being jettisoned from the ISS?

AFAIK, you can get some spectacular sights when stuff like that burns thru the atmosphere, specifically at night.

People thought a worm-hole was opening in the sky, turns out it was waste from the ISS that was jettisoned.

that is an interesting find, It does look like a comet a little bit, but a very strange one at that.

Wow...I wondered what the hell was going on this morning...I almost made a thread on it...thanks for posting that, but I don't think is what the video is showing.

Just an Idea.
