There is a story in "origins of evil" one of the oldest writtings on earth and according to it Adam's first wife's name was Lillith. She wouldn't have anything to do with Adam as she says "I will not be on the bottom" in sex. She demanded the superior position. But Adam maintained he was to be the head of the woman. But they were created equal and she would not relent and after the angels bringing her back and God Adam and her having a conference she flew off in a rage as a demon spirit to destroy children. So God brought woman out of Adam that she would be from him to be an equal help mate and not feeling superior. And some say today women having abortions that the spirit of Lillith is in them is why they don't want the kid, in most cases. ( above is my paraphrae of it as I remember it)

Of course the story may be true, so it helps to understand there can't be two or three co-existant co-equal Gods. The fire and fur would fly, same as with Adam and Lillith.

The point I'm going to make is I do not and will not hold to any theology, therories that people want to put together to make something else out of the way the scripture reads. The KJV. came from approved manuscripts and all the rest stream from ones that are very questionable. The original words are there the KJV came from and if you think it don't read right go to the Greek Hebrew dictionary or go argue with Yahweh about it. He will tell you, mister I gave you my Word, read it and understand.

As far as Adam and perhaps Eve in Gen. chap. 1 immediately going at it they didn't need to be in a hurry as until the disobedience was committed they had all eternity and they had the wonders of the Garden of Paradise to keep their hearts away from sex. But after the disobedience then they saw the radical diference between them but the sex thing still didn't happen dead on. But again the account isn't neccesarily in chronological order. From what I've read they were in the garden at least 5 yrs. so they apparently didn't get with it fast. I find to believe the Word is the safe path to take as it reads.

With all due respect what you read regarding Adam & Eve living in the garden of Eden five years did not come from the text the Bible. Some say seven years, some have claimed 30 years but where in the bible does this become fact? KJV or any version.? It doesn't.

Same with Lilith....Folk lore... Big during the middle ages...Not in the pages of the bible. Could this of been omitted? Quite possibly but again no logical, unquestionable proof.

If they ATE from the 'tree of life' (family tree, fruit of the womb) umm... cannibalism?!? Like, eating the newborn.
To make matters worse, as soon as I (regrettably) thought of this, I then thought of that saying I've heard many time referring to a child being "the apple of her eye" --which frankly I never understood, because who the heck has apples in their eyes? I've always known it meant a sort of adoration that an adult relative feels for a child, but now I do wonder how/why that phrase came into being!

Then when you factor in God telling Abraham to sacrifice... Isaac, I think? (until a lamb showed up and was slaughtered instead, of course.) Even so, Abraham, dutiful servant, sadly trekked up the mountain to find that altar to slaughter his child. Sadly... resigned to it... not freaking out like "You've got to be kidding, God!!! Kill my child on an altar?! (If I'm not mistaken, food offered to God on an altar was subsequently eaten by his followers in a feast. So thank God for the poor lil lamb wandering along, huh?) Also, the whole 'drink my blood' and 'eat my flesh' ritual of communion where the congregation partakes of the body of Christ (the fruit of Mary's womb-- that's the words in your OP that spawned this whole thought-train!)

So back to this gross-I-hope-I'm-way-wrong line of thought... did God tell Adam and Eve to eat of all the plants, fruits, blah blah blah except that from the Tree of Life. Let's face it, he did tell them to be fruitful and multiply. Can't exactly multiply if you're devouring your offspring. (Later in the days of Abraham, the population having multiplied, God may have relented on his mandate of 'no cannibalism.' Or the fact that A & E were cast out of the Garden of Eden might indicate God wrote them off and left them to their cannibalistic instincts.)

Hi, I'm new to ATS and brand new to this forum. I just want to address the statement re: Abraham and Issac. Abraham KNEW the LORD wouldn't have him sacrifice Isaac. And Abraham trusted the LORD by going to the place of the sacrifice joyfully because of this. Here is Gen. 22:5 from the KJV:

5] And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you,


He tells his attendants THEY would be back. Oh, and it was a ram they sacrificed, not a lamb. I'd love to spend more time here. I'll be back. I love Yehoshua and the bible. I believe everything in the bible is truth, but not all truth is in the bible. Sadly, Enoch and others were left out. But, that may be for another time. Blessing, Puzzle

Well this post at least has people getting out their Bibles and reading Scripture or going on line and reading passages from the Bible. This is a good act. What has struck me hard in this and now leaves me with another un-answered question is where God speaks in Gen 1-26

Our Image? In Our Likeness? Rather than in My Image, My Likeness?

Who else is GOD referring to? Who's with him?

The phrase In OUR Image / In OUR likeness.

WE are now being introduced to the Godhead.

We have God the holy spirit who created the heavens and earth, We now have God who created life, and all the living creatures and foul of the air and those that swim and live in the sea. Welcome God the father.

God the son will appear later in the NT.

Welcome to the beginning of creation and Genesis.

All one God, One Creator, One Father! The Holy Spirit. Adam and Even our our First parents or we are the off spring of them BUT we all have one father.

So in our Image / In our Likeness fits the puzzle as a perfect fit.

The two in the statement "let us make man in our image" is made clear in the verse Isa 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.

God is "elohiym" there because there is more than one introduced, Yahweh king of Israel and Yahweh of Hosts are the elohiym, separately each would be " elowahh". The same as the verse known as the "shema", proclamation - De 6:4 ¶ Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: It is elohiym there also. But note in both it is declared they are one. Isa. 44:8 makes special emphasis of one God and the first time used in that verse it is "elohiym" and the second time means "rock".

To understand this please read the following verses and be enlightened - 1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.
1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.
1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
1Co 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.
1Co 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

Note in verse 28 "that God ( the Father ) may be all in all" which means our redeemer returns unto the Father the Deity vested in Him. Now after that is done He will be the Prince and no longer equal to the Father. He is reigning now is evident from verse 25 as the King.

We will be the Prince's subjects on this earth made new as He has bought us and we are His own.

Not sure now what you are referring to but I may have got the date wrong or you gave it back wrong but the only thing that comes to mind at present is that our yr. 2010 is the 5,995 t/h yr, I find is the age of our earth since yr. one of making it vsible. To declare a book compiled some thousand years ago to be the absolute and literal manual for existence, in spite of its own inconsistency and its almost complete discord with contemporary knowledge?

As a theologically and doctrinally disinterested part, I can't see anything but insanity in the creationist proposition, whereas a personal, non-invasive symbolism would do christianity a lot of good, so christians wouldn't be considered extremist nut-cases.

Now if we can let's please stay on track and on topic. No matter how it is disputed no one can scientifically and logically explain creation other than a creator. We can convince ourselves that an atom split and exploded, Big Bang or whatever theory but it still takes us back to a creator. Who created the spark, the atom, the molecule, the speck?

We can all say the world is billions of years old even when modern science is taking another look at DNA showing that is no loner the case. What we thought was 6 billion years old is found to be 4 or 5 thousand years old in reality.

Some have claimed when I proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that EVE was not present when GOD said to be fruitful and multiply and asked if I even had a bible. Some came up with another woman prior to Eve named Lilith. Lilith was NOT recorded in the Bible. No mention of this person. later it was shown to be myth / folklore.

So #1. Eve was not present when GOD said be fruitful and multiply. FACT until proven otherwise.

Gen 27 So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him; GOD Creates ADAM EVE is not in the picture yet
male and female he created them. The Creatures both sexes NOT ADAM & EVE.
28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. HERE GOD BLESSES ALL THE CREATURES THEN TELLS ADAM TO Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

FACT unless proven otherwise.

Now it's not until GEN 2 that GOD creates the garden of Eden. NOT in GEN 1 when he says be fruitful and multiply.

THEY WERE A NEW CREATION....They both had free will, They did not know yet the emotion of sexual pleasure or mating for reproduction.
