I hope I can show what, imo, seems to look like Obama is setting it up to take away our rights to bear arms, not to mention, if looked into further into this, there is even more "change" to be afraid of.
Obama Appoints Anti-Gun Proponent As Representative To U.N.

former Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, a proponent of gun control, ...

Nickels, was a member of MAIG, "Mayors Against Illegal Guns"
Mayors Against Illegal Guns

MAIG is "founded by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino."

Mayors Against Illegal Guns is lobbying the U.S. Congress to:[13]
1) Repeal the Tiahrt Amendment

The ATF under the Obama administration has issued no formal position on the amendment. While a Senator, President Barack Obama stated, "At a time when bloodshed on our streets is on the rise, making sure that our law enforcement officers have all the tools they need to fight crime should be our top priority. But instead of providing those tools, the Tiahrt Amendment ties the hands of police in their effort to halt illegal gun trafficking and sales. I am proud to join the Mayors Against Illegal Guns in their fight against this dangerous legislation. Our communities and the brave men and women who risk their lives everyday to protect us deserve more from Congress."[26]

This might sound like a good idea but the government has already gained a enough amount of ground already over us.

4) Close the "Terrorist Watch List Loophole" ...The National Rifle Association has opposed this reform and pointed to a May 2009 DOJ report that found that 24,000 of the 400,000 people on the FBI's watch list were listed based on outdated or irrelevant information.[32]

If the Tiahrt Amendment was repealed this watch list will grow tremendously, imo.

www.aspendailynews.com...

The NRA is not all wrong. I support the Second Amendment’s right to bear arms, ...

The above article mentions a slight inconvenience if there is a mix up and you are detained due to mistaken identity. I beg to differ. Innocent woman sues ....
If we would fight against censoring this book then we should fight against losing our Second Amendment Rights, not to mention, what would constitute being on the FBI watch list?
We are already arguing for the right to allow chocolate milk to stay in our schools
Snipping OVERKILL, imo.U.S. Schools War' Against Chocolate Milk
We are already forced to buy their product (ObamaCare), or suffer the consequences. Trillions in debt.
The title of your thread is not a joke! "Obama:Change to be afraid of....."
Thanks

This stuff is junk food for haters and republicans. The country is ticked off because he didn't follow through with his promises, he governed from the center and failed in his goals. If he was a real progressive, we would have a single payer health system or at the least a public option. Rants like this are ridicules bordering on stupid. Get out and get a life, people who build and create in this country don't have time to waste putting such crap together. Go out and make your world better instead of setting around ranting about how someone else is messing it up for you.

What a terrible waste of time... If I was trying to prove someone was quote unquote a socialist I would do it in as proficient time as possible. Not waste three hours of your own and about 20 minutes of my time on such a boring read that contains nothing more then opinions. You know something I remember where I went to Sunday school but you know what?... I wish I FORGOT!!!!!!

ALL HAIL OBAMA! I'm sure presidency will be turned into a dictatorship in no time!

I for one am happy he failed to deliver his promises.....and the ones that are upset the most are not the jaded or those with buyers remorse....it's the ones that are ticked at the audacity he has shown in "fundamentally changing america"

Junk food? i tell ya we already have this feeling for him and his progressive kind right or left.... a lot of the stuff in the OP is around if you don't mind digging... yet this is the first i've seen of it being put together in a coherent package

www.foxnews.com...
CARACAS, Venezuela – Tens of thousands of Venezuelans opposed to President Hugo Chavez took to the streets Saturday, blaming him for rolling blackouts, water rationing, widespread crime and other problems they say are making daily life increasingly difficult.
Waving Venezuelan flags, protesters accused Chavez of dragging the politically divided South American country into a severe crisis as he accelerates his drive to transform it into a socialist state.

"Chavez is leading the country to ruin," said 79-year-old Olga Damjanovich at the opposition protest. "He's controlled all the country's institutions for more than a decade, so how could it be possible that he's not responsible for the problems weighing down on us?"

Many wore T-shirts that read: "3 Strikes: Blackouts, Water Rationing and Crime. Chavez, You've Struck Out!"

As for China, what? The limited amount of children per family is what I'm guessing you're on about. Last time I checked, their country is a bit overpopulated. Perhaps population control isn't as bad as the West thinks it is. Don't forget, the United States is a country where it's pretty popular to pop out 5 kids before you reach the age of 20 and we're going to criticize China where there are restrictions on such a thing? Some American families can afford 10 children, but that doesn't mean the rest of the country can.

I am American and don't know anyone who had 5 children before 20. You are saying that it is OK for the government to dictate how many children you can have? What do you think about public beatings?

en.wikipedia.org...
Caning is a widely used form of legal corporal punishment in Singapore. It can be sub-divided into several contexts - domestic/private, school, reform school, military and judicial.
Of these, judicial caning, for which Singapore is best known, is the most severe. It is reserved for male criminals aged under 50, for at least 30 different offences under the Criminal Procedure Code. Caning is a legal form of punishment for delinquent male members of the military (Singapore Armed Forces -- SAF) and this is administered in the SAF Detention Barracks. Caning is also an official punishment in reform schools and as a prison disciplinary measure. In a milder form, caning is used to punish male youths in many Singaporean schools for serious misbehaviour.
A much smaller cane or other implement is also used by some parents as punishment for their children of either sex. This is not outlawed in Singapore.

The Singapore Prisons Regulations require that caning be inflicted on the buttocks (Regulation 132(2)).

In practice the prisoner is required to strip completely naked for the administration of the punishment.

Once he has removed his clothes, the inmate is made to stand facing the trestle so that he can be tied to it.
k this is "cruel and unusual punishment"

In Singapore, he is made to bend over a pad between the front legs. His feet are secured to the front base with his hands secured to the back legs, so that he is bent over at about right angles at the hip.

Once the prisoner is secured, the caning officer will take up position, standing about five feet away, and adjusting his position with the aid of the cane. Correct positioning is critical. If he is too near the prisoner, the tip of the cane will fall beyond the buttocks and thus reduce the effect of the stroke. If he is too far, the stroke will only cover part of the buttocks.

A senior officer stands by, with the doctor.

The cane is soaked overnight in water, so it is supple. The Prisons Department says this is to prevent it from splitting and shearing the skin. They denied earlier claims that the cane is soaked in brine. However, it is treated with antiseptic before use.

TO ADMINISTER A CRIMINAL WHIPPING, the officer first twists his body to the left. The aim is to get as much force as possible behind the stroke. The offender is whipped on the buttocks. After each stroke, the rotan is immediately pulled back.

Irrespective of the age of the offender or the type of crime committed, every stroke is inflicted with the full strength of the warder: “Canings are administered with maximum force” (South China Morning Post, Hong Kong, 2 April 1994).

The post you responded to was me addressing the OP of this thread. Are you suggesting I speak to the OP of a thread on ATS in non-ATS terms?

if one says..obama is a socialist

others say prove it...

so she did it by showing how he was raised and that the policies he is enacting is due to be raised and reared around communist and that it was this same childhood teaching that brought him to the point he chose his friends and influences that orbit the same broken system...

course a long read does tend to challenge the intellect...perhaps she has wasted the research on some of those on this board....

but there are others that have read and probably learned a few things of why "little obama" wants to take over the free enterprise market and take away various US rights from her citizens....

sorry you felt put out for the over-whelming information presented...but i think she organized it in a succinct post...

It WAS being discussed here, as well as in the wider outside world.

Those particular discussions are the reason I initially created an account at ATS.

No, I'm no going to waste time "searching" for threads. I was participating in them, and that's evidence enough for me.

Thank you for that. So much is happening so fast it is hard to keep up. Absolutely people should be concerned. Why does any government entity need that much control over it's citizens? To think, my children choosing chocolate milk over white! Someone needs to fix that, In my humble opinion, as the parent I am the one who should monitor my children's diet.

As for guns, I have a rifle hanging on my wall . That is my right, do I use it? No, but if it came down to my children or some loon, the loon gets blasted...

Great! I'm glad to hear that Obama knew what he was doing from the start. At least somebody knows what's going on.

What's so bad about socialism anyway? Are Canada, England, Switzerland, etc evil?

And, by the way, I lived and worked in Hawaii for 27 years. The unions there are run by Japanese and Portugese mafia, whch are very capitalistic organizations!

Good luck with your untimely Tea Partyish rant.

So this is all old news?
Why are we discussing it now then?

Kid yourself all you like. There was no big concern over who Obama's mom went to high school with before he was elected. You can say there was all you like but I guess I will have to let the proof you have provided speak for itself.

Yup, I realized that - as well as the fact that every time an answer is proferred to Curiousisall, she(?) immediately tries to redirect the conversation by moving the goalposts elsewhere on the field, all the while insisting that is what she(?) REALLY meant to begin with. I've been watching the same precise behavior on other threads for about 3 days or so now, and find it greatly amusing.

It's hard to hit a moving target, but not impossible. You have only to pin the target down, hold the poster's feet to the fire and make them prove their INITIAL assertion, rather than chasing the targets around. Get's 'em every time.

I mostly just posted that little factoid to see where the next target would be popped up in the attempt to change the conversation.

Indeed, the concerns over Obama's background were RAMPANT at ATS in the weeks leading up to the election. Anyone who cares to confirm that, and has time to waste searching out the answers to old news (not my job to do it for you - you made the initial claim that it WASN'T happening, so research it yourself, and "you" know who you are...), is more than welcome to search out all of my initial posts at ATS, and read the threads. I just carried the conversation from the greater outside world right into cyberspace as a continuation of the same, with perhaps a wider audience.

Next moving target, please...

You are so full of crap. I asked where you all were before he was elected. All you are doing is saying, we were here, trust us. Well, I do not trust you. That is not moving the goal posts. That is sticking to my convictions. If you are going to make such blatant personal attacks, back them up.

We are discussing it now because YOU brought it up initially, with THIS comment:

Where was this inquisitive attitude before the election? What were all the birthers and the "Obama is a known socialist Muslim" folks before he was elected? Where you all distracted by Palin? Were you too busy to care?
Just curious.
