I thought the original article was intellectually presented, I then went on to surmise we would have an intellectual debate; not random commentary with little or not relation to the subject matter.

I don't know how much access mods have to the html on this board, but my previous post agreed with you, at first, about obama being off-topic. I realized that's stupid, hence "screw that", But I mean when you start a thread off by sensationalizing the title how am I supposed to take you seriously?

you're a moderator and you're using glenn beck tactics to get people angry over nothing. The majority of people who posted in this thread have basically just squawked a reiteration of what everyone says in anti-obama threads.

There was so much of all the same things, you can imagine how it might feel just like an obama-hate thread. There's been so many they all kinda blur together into one big pile of BS.

I'm sorry, but that can be disputed. It is accepted political fact the President is defacto leader of his party. Don't you remember all those rumors months ago about Pelosi being ousted because she couldn't muster up a vote on the Health Care Bill? Even Bush controlled Congress when he was in office. The legislative has taken a backseat to the wishes of the executive. In the original context of the constitution it would be Obama working for Pelosi, but in today's practice it is something quite different. If he wanted rid of her, he could do it quite easily. He would simply turn the party against her. Pelosi is in truth just a pusher for what Obama wants in Congress and that is all.

I noticed you left "you won't be job locked" out of your quote. This puts the statement in a different light. It means you can take the insurance with you as opposed to having to work in that job solely for the insurance. A lot of people are stuck in that kind of place. I would also like to see the rest of the remarks before I make a judgement as perhaps it was something that should be taken in context as opposed to a poorly edited snippet on some news site I've never seen before.

She's counting on her work as SOTH in connection with Obama's agenda to win her favor with those who support Obama in her voting area. If you don't think she'll bring up Obama and all the work she did for him I'd say you are being overly generous.

But it's not a different branch when you think about it. When the president wants it done it gets done. Obama is the defacto leader of the Democratic party on all levels. So yes, he does in essence command her. She is there to rally the troops and ensure the Presidents agenda get's through the house. She has become an extension of the executive. It shouldn't be that way, but that's the way it's been for the last 10 years or so. Have you ever seen her defy Obama?

I generally tend to not be too concerned with people that wont click a link and read the entire story. Kudos for you doing that.

I sure wished I would have had some of the debates about the health care bill with some savvy folk on here instead of my mindless co-workers.

First, let me say that while everyone I worked with was running around debating whether or not the bill would pass, I politely told them that it was completely obvious that it was going to pass. I don't know how I knew it, but I just did. I have a knack for things like this. I think it had something to do with the fact that we were ( are ) in an economic crisis and they were talking about damn health care. Not that it wasn't important, but it since I travel to all kinds of different places of work ( from manufacturing, to defense, to aerospace...well nearly everywhere ) I could tell first hand that people were more worried about their jobs.

Heck, even on this very site you see the majority complaining about job losses to illegals. It's a big concern for people. Now, as far a the health care bill. It scares me, and please hear me out first before slamming me because I admit I'm ignorant on a few things.

I fear that "they" are going to use this health care bill to force "pills of compliance" down our throats. Also, I fear that if we don't take these mind numbing meds, then we'll be refused other treatment like repairing broken bones. I say this because this bill is border line socialism. It may have great motives, like freeing up people to learn how to play the sitar and such, but we can not have the people responsible for telling us what to do also be in charge of our well being. When I was in the service, I was refused surgery ( not life threatening ) because I didn't take my heart meds. I was also refused dental work because I wanted to wait to get fillings until I got out.

These are the types of things we'll all have to contend with.
