Pelosi to Aspiring Musicians: Quit Your Job, Taxpayers Will Cover Your Health Care

Here we go...

(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said this week that thanks to the new health-care reform law musicians and other creative types could quit their jobs and focus on developing their talents because the taxpayers would fund their health care coverage.

“We see it as an entrepreneurial bill,” Pelosi said, “a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care.”

So we can all just quit and the Government will care for us..

I wonder where the Government will get the money when we all do quit?

Oh yeah..

They will just print more of it..

I cry to see what is happening to my country

The so called "health care" Bill is an outrageous affront to any freedom loving soul in the U.S., but ironically, so is placing ones own dreams on a back burner and agreeing to be an employee for someone else. There was a time when being an employee was as simple as making a contract between you and that employer and there may have been some benefit to that, but today few employers will hire a person without first getting that person to sign government contracts. Even worse, that employer acts as a de facto tax collector on behalf of both state and federal tax collection agencies, while not having one single iota of authorization to do so.

I am not saying Pelosi is right to sell her so called "health care" package by encouraging artist to quit their jobs and let the government welfare kick in, but if an artist is wasting away working some stupid dead end job that demands way too much of their time, that isn't good either. Too many Americans see their financial future in terms of jobs, and far too few see their future in terms of being in business for themselves. The artist, since the advent of the internet, is in a unique position to cut out the standard middle man in selling their product directly to the public.

Musicians can use the internet to get their music directly to a public without the need for any label or agents, actors, dancers, and directors can use the internet to develop an audience base, and even sell their product, and writers, of course, can do the same. Painters, sketch artist's, sculptors, and so on, have a whole new method of marketing their work and should take full advantage of it, as should many other people who do not consider themselves artists. While going into business for oneself means there is the risk of failing, that risk doesn't go away by working for someone else, and worse, that company can fail, and if it does, the employee is screwed, where often the owners have made enough to use a parachute to escape the disaster of failure.

I, personally believe, that all Americans should defy this so called "health care" Bill, that is nothing more than a legislative insurance scam, and find a better way to take control of their health care, primarily through prevention, but I also firmly believe that America will never come close to returning to what made this country great, until they reject this contract with corporatism, and refuse to work for the man, and simply be the man themselves...that is, after all, The American Dream.

I suppose the true test of the health of this Nation will be if she gets reelected..

And this is the woman who is two steps away from being president?

Good Lord.

Is there something in the air in the Capitol that makes these people that stupid or do they come by it naturally?

Does pelosi really want violence to break out in the U.S. ?
Sure does sound like it. The evil twisted skank seems to think its a great idea to steal from people and give it away so she can profit from it.
She is a sick vile person.

This Pelosi crazy sounds like that they are trying to destroy Americans work ethic. I guess while everyones busking on the government buck making music, they won't be needing those illegals jobs. Future revolution and riots averted.

Is not the air, my friend is the money they get in soft money contributions from the pimps in the private interest.

That's what makes them dumb and stupid. . .

That was my first thought. She's job security for Obama.

Nancy has never been one of my favorite people. I just wonder who will feed, clothe and house these people that she encourages to quit their jobs? Yeah, they'll have health care, but you can't survive on health care.

After I told my husband about this and we had a good laugh at how crazy Pelosi is for saying it, he suggested we look on the positive side... If the musicians and artists quit their jobs, it will open up some jobs for people who want to work.

They are going to build a socialist utopia you know?

An America where no one needs to work, and everyone can live the good life like Pelosi, heck maybe she is even planning on buying new private jets for everyone who wants or needs one, like the ones she wanted for congress.

It's all good, the fed can print all the money needed so in her reality no one really needs to work, the government can provide everything for everyone, and illegals too... Open the borders we don't need them anymore. In fact we can feed the entire world everyone is welcome.

Jobs are holding back real progress, everyone can now be actors, artists and musicians.

Go Nancy!

Is she serious?

Let's see a full comprehensive health care package will naturally have to include room and board, I'm thinking something along a 1500 sq ft bungalow in Palm Springs or maybe a beach house in Martha's Vineyard. Transportation is a crucial element so maybe a Lotus or Mazarati for personal car and naturally a limo for performance appearances. Networking is always key in the business so there will have to be an entertainment fund and handlers.

Hmm, this is starting to sound more like a presidential campaign...say, wait a minute.

I am an underground, DIY, touring musician. To be honest, im a bit disappointed that most of you buy into that "lazy musician" bull. How many of you have a favorite writer or musician that contributed to your way of thinking today? Is art really that insignificant to you? The corporate music industry has completely robbed music of its integrity, and is DESTROYING underground voices, ideas, and opinions coming through great bands most of you will never hear. Coupled with the high cost of private health insurance, it makes it near impossible to get out on the road and make something of yourself without bending over to a major label who will censor your words and mold your music for the ears of the masses.
Laziness has nothing to do with it. For the past 4 years of my life, I have been touring six months out of the year, coming home to find a job and work to save for all my bills and rent, make all my own merchandise with a screen-press I built myself, and write songs to EXPRESS MYSELF and help others feel they can make a difference. No vacations for me. No big-screen TVs for me and my wife. No health insurance for me when im on the road. I refuse to allow the marriage of LABOR and HEALTH enslave me. I PAY FULL TAXES AND REPORT ALL EARNINGS OF MY MUSICAL ENDEAVORS TO THE IRS, yet I haven't been to a doctor in years. I take care of myself by eating a conscientious vegetarian diet and meditate regularly. So, who is a bigger burden to this society? Someone who is actively pursuing the [mirage] of the american dream, working harder than most for 18k a year if he is lucky all for the sake of music, or someone who complacently feeds a corrupt system in which he is nothing but a consumer of resources, all the while pointing fingers at those who are "burdening" him by being creative? The sooner you all realize your lives have been held hostage so you will serve the almighty dollar and hold its value up on your breaking backs the better.
A transparent, democractic, not-for-profit single-pay system is the hammer to break first shackle forced on us by the corporate oligarchy. Of course, then we would all have to pay attention and be involved in our own government instead of fearing it. What a concept...
EDIT:
FIY, I do not believe health care should be free. I would gladly pay, if the cost wasn't so inflated.

It's not socialism, it's stupidity. Palin makes the Republicans look foolish, Pelosi fills that role on the other side.
