God left us a long time ago, or was he even here. I would certainly leave a civilization which is so determined to build weapons that can surpass the massive deathtoll of the first weapon they had.

One who speaks of a country being cursed, pathetic. We are the curse.

You don't mean Michele Bachmann do you?

That woman is a lunatic out looking for fringe.
She says outlandish things that make very little sense and or are uncorroborated flat out lies, just to get attention for herself.

I am guessing this is the case here. I don't know though maybe God is speaking to her and saying something in her ear.

Or maybe she is just hearing voices.

to do with the topic?
I have told everyone on this thread what I know about the topic,
based on Biblical scripture.
If you,or anyone else, thinks they can hurt my feelings, you are all
in for a rude surprise.I am woman enough to take anything you think
you are man/woman enough to dish out.
God will punish the United States if we turn our backs on Israel.Plain

You are of course correct, and no worrie's, all is as it is supposed to be. As far as everyone's concern with Israel being such a bad country...when was the last time Israel executed anyone for political dissent??? Exactly

OK OK OK, there has been a lot of running around and quite a bit of subterfuge on this thread.

I suppose the question now, is not if we should reject Israel, which I don't believe very many have said. The question should be phrased as such:

"If we are to love our enemies and support the state of Israel, then why should we NOT support every national equally?"

By simply treating everyone equally and allowing Israel to use it's own money to buy bombs and gunships, we certainly would help promote a more peaceful world.

Aren't the Beatitudes more important to modern Christianity than the Old Testament? Wouldn't supplying Israel with money specifically to purchase weapons that are actively used (meaning not as a deterrent) contradict Jesus' teachings specifically?

I would suggest that we treat with everyone equally, and I don't need the bible to know that it is better foreign and economic policy abroad.

By accepting others right to live, own land, and be free does not, by proxy, constitute a rejection of Israel.

I hope we can redirect this conversation.

Peace
KJ

Actually you've made many mistakes. Every time you post some fictional story from the bible, you've been mistaken.

Dont forget, there is a reason its called faith and not fact.

You cant prove a single thing in it.

You know man, it's alright to disagree with people's belief system. What they believe and what you believe might be two different things, and that is ok.

Don't degrade people for believing in different things. For you the Bible is fiction.. that's fine... But for 'F" sake quit downing people for thinking it's not.

Don't listen to him, he is ignorant and has to degrade others to get his jollies off. Don't enable him...

This reminds me of that loco talk by those Baptist Church people who protest at fallen American soldier's funerals. Enough already with the punishment, fire and brimstone.

Our country is half a world away from the alleged sacred land and yet somehow a few whacked-out Christians have morphed their beliefs to encompass our country.

Kindly look up the word ethnocentrism and report back.

Regards...kk

Michelle wasn't getting enough attention and needed to see herself in the media. "Hand Notes" Sarah has been grabbing all the headlines and Michelle was feeling ignored. She has to make outrageous statements because she has no other discernable skill. The beaut that she made puts her up there with Pat "If I Only Had a Brain" Robertson. She is trying to be clever and play to the fundamental religious base she has before they figure out the truth and unelect her.

As to the comment about the Bible supporting the idea; it was the Old Testament. That would be the Hebrew Bible. What did you think it would say?

Understood and good point, I hope so too, and as we have learned, or should have in our live's, nothing is ever to be gained by browbeating, or taking thing's personal. Like someone said, " We are all good, till someon put's their hand's on me " Right?

The vast majority of protestant Christian theologies do, in fact, teach that siding against Israel is a fool's errand.

A reference to the ancient kingdom of Israel and nothing to do with the modern country. It's no longer 600BC. Even in America.

And besides, if you're writing a religious tract, you're hardly going to say that people should turn against you

Israel today is no different to Togo, Bhutan, Switzerland or Uruguay. Though as an ally of the USA it might be considered on similar terms to Britain, Canada and, er, Mongolia (who btw have contibuted trops to both Iraq and Afghanistan - not sure off hand if Israel have?)

Some people need to be scorned, honestly.

Mormons, Scientology, many Muslim sects, to name a few. Because people believe it (as religion) does not exempt it from public scorn and ridicule when those ideas impact people negatively.

Personally I've seen many of those who say just what you do say the nastiest things to the Westboro Baptist Church believers and certainly Christian Identity.

She stated she was right and I was wrong based upon her belief in a fictional book.

She is in fact wrong. The U.S. will in no way suffer any harm if Israel were to disappear tomorrow. In fact, one could argue we would be better off without that nation existing. It would cause us less problems, and save us money.

Aye, and before anyone tries to suggest so, that is not a racist or anti semitic comment. The same can be said of Iran, N Korea, France, Guyana and Burkina Faso. Israel is one country. Nothing more, nothing less.
