"America cursed by God if we reject Israel " From Rep. Bachmann (Minn)

So in the bible God himself curses the jews, yet anyone else who follows in his footsteps and curses the jews is going to be cursed?

In any event, if cursing the jews is speaking out against Zionism and telling people how Israel has America by the balls, well I guess I'm cursed. And if any of you want to know how this country is going to crumble it will have nothing to do with not helping Israel and everything to do with helping it.

I posted an article written in a newspaper, which I agreed with, and as far as it being slander, sound's like you need to get an Attorney, and go after the original article writer. I don't believe co-slander has ever been successfully prosecuted. In regards to your dog with a bone comment, is that in reference to AC/DC's song " Giving the dog a bone " because if it is, then I don't need to know anymore about that. It seemed to me you were on Rep. Bachmann's side in reference to your original comment, if that is the case, then we are of the same opinion, and I do not understand why your concern is with me, short of that I may have posted the article incorrectly, perhap's, and that is my error, no ill will intended, I merely thought it was a good article. As to my distance, as you stated, it's called looking for work, as I have bill's to pay, nothing more, simply can't be here all the time. Now, lastly, still not scared, nor will I ever be, as I am along with I'm sure many on this site, a person who has been through it all, and no ranting and raving poster here or anywhere else, concern's me, I assure you. That being said, have a great evening, or day, depending on your location. Oh, and I will try to be more accurate with my posting's from now on, if that works.

Ok, having taken the time to read over some of your post's from the past, I now am of the opinion, that I have some idea of where you are coming from on this. You are an educated, and highly traveled individual, who has worked in a lot of the area's in question. You also have a chip on your shoulder for those who appear to not follow the rules, and or, show the slightest hint of being uneducated, or soft. You tend to anger easy, and fly off the handle if something does not suit you. In addition, you seem to be behind Rep. Bachmann's so called comment's, which is why, I do not understand, where we differ, except the afformentioned attribute's.

In summary: I did it, it's done, and short of continuing this charade, there's not one thing, you can do about it.

Because....oop's sorry, I was laughing to myself. In this book called the bible, he tend's to destroy a whole bunch of people, that feel the way you appear to about him..... Then, show's his love by sending his son to die on the cross, so that people such as yourself can be redeemed, even though you feel the way you do..... I know it doesn't make sense, but then again, it's not supposed to.... Because his ways are higher than our way's and we can't possibly understand....But you hang in there, you'll get it eventually, cause you see, everybody does, unless your gonna live forever, and no one's pulled that one off yet, at least mankind anyway....

So, while I love all the bible talk, it really belies the real situation.

We live in a secular nation, there really isn't any questioning that, so it stands to reason that we should make foreign policy choices based on pragmatism rather than mysticism.

There's no real need to address religion and I tend to think Bachmann is straining credulity to base her public policy on biblical perception, which is subject to a really wide range of things over the past few centuries.

Do we have to reject Israel to play fairly? Can we have more than two options please? (I know that's asking a lot in America) Can we get away from having the "it's true"/"it's a lie" arguments when they really don't matter in this discussion.

The fact remains that the bible exists, and whether or not there is anything supernatural about it's fundamentals, people tend to use it as justification when that is simply not needed.

Being Christian does not mean you set aside your brain and be a stupid Jesus-zombie. I tend to think that would be fairly insulting to the very god who gave us the very cognitive powers that seem to be shunned by a large majority of people, regardless of religious choice.

So, any answers?

She is standing on a platform (as an elected official they all do) and threatening the very existence of this country if we do not go and fight another countries battles?????

Read the book, saw the movie, bought the T-shirt and have already washed the car with it. The Bible is a book. For some pure fact but for others like myself fiction. It was written by mortals and translated, exaggerated, embellished and morphed into its present form. It is fraught with contradiction and supposition. For the purpose of IMHO, controlling man and offering a false sense of purpose.

As frequently discussed in these forums, there are numerous parallels with the Sumerian text and other forms of organized belief systems which pre date it.

There are millions of books in the world and a myriad of other contemporary religions to none of which I subscribe. I think what rattles my cage the most is the pompous and holier than thou attitude (hypocrisy in itself) exhibited by those who choose to believe but one of many "brands" and spread fear.

What the crazy fundamentals that say god will punish the USA will do , is not just stand idly by and let some act of divine retribution come to pass . What'll come to pass next is they'll 'know' god wants them to be his right hand and go about enacting his vengeance for him , in the service of the lord . Then it'll be like self fulfilling prophecy when they go about creating problems for the usa . Then they'll say , 'we told you god would seek vengeance ' , after committing their acts of Christofascist terrorism.

Oh please, this is so self-contradicting that it's really weird! We support actions which lead to oil crisis, because we want to avoid oil crisis. You lost me here, and I think not just me but everyone with semblance of logic planted in their cranium.

A notion that religious beliefs have nothing to do with it falls flat in the face of that fact that Evangelicals and others drum up exactly these feelings among Christians. Where is this thread you speak of? And if Israel is so chosen by YHWH, why did he curse them time and time again and kick them off the land a number of times? The problem is, he said HE would restore the people to the land and made no mention of the Balfour Declaration, Zionism or anything else these crazy people are coming up with.

The "CHOSEN" people are those who do RIGHT. The people who feed the homeless, take care of the orphans and help the widows. The CHOSEN people are the people who love their fellow man as they would themselves, regardless of race, origin, sexual preference, background, etc. The CHOSEN people are those who practice SACRIFICE (not the blood offering) RIGHTEOUSNESS and TRUTH.
