Los Angeles (The Angels)

The full name of the town in California was El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles de la Porciúncula (The Village of Our Lady, the Queen of the Angels of Porziuncola)

So first off, get your facts straight.

Your mindset of "Payback is a b****" is the exact viewpoint of an ignorant fool who fails to take any time to study the facts of the situation. The OP and citizens currently living in California are generations apart from the Mexican/American conflicts brought on by the purchasing of land. To wish harm on anyone in retaliation to acts they had no hand in doing (not to mention were hundreds of years ago) does nothing more than expose your misguided and ignorant hatred towards an undeserving populace.

Also please open a history book to see why Mexicans and most South American countries speak Spanish. You may be interested to know that even the decendants of Mexicans and South Americans were murderous conquerors just the same.

So you are saying if you break the law you should be allowed to die? What about the 90% of us who drive above the speed limit? When you drive fast like that you are risking the lives of everybody on the road. Illegals are not risking anybody's life. The crime should be much lesser of a crime by any logical standards. It is attempted murder VS. theft.

This country suffered in many different ways, true. The topic of this thread, however, is the particular kind of devastation that illegals from Mexico and the like are bringing to our communities.

You can't go back now, sorry.

Nobody can ever go back. For me, I'll never go back to political correctness because this is exactly the date rape drug that politicians are feeding to us. I would volunteer to work for free, on my vacation time, on the construction of the wall on Mexican border, and help LE identify and deport illegals if given a chance. I would vote for English being the only official language in the US any time. Don't tell me I am complacent.

I agree with all of your points and totally understand where you're coming from.

There are two things you have to understand:

1. Human beings will forever share the tendency to better their quality of life. Since the greatest empire in the history of the world is only a "border hop" away, illegal immigration is instinctual. We all seek permanency through reproduction, and we all want what's best for our children and future generations. This is what sparks most illegal immigration, the instinct to better the quality of living. It's compulsive. Ironically, the very illegal immigrants that come to this country for a better quality of life wake up to the realization that a 'better quality of life' is impossible without citizenship.

2. Simply said, if the U.S. government wanted to solve the illegal immigration problem they would have done so a long time ago. They can minimize illegal immigration almost down to a halt if they wanted to, but that's the thing, they don't want to.

So that said, the problem is with both illegal immigrants and government. Illegal immigration is just one more factor that contributes to the ticking time bomb in this country.

You are right - ILLEGALS need to show some respect to the US and it's citizens... take the test become Americans and learn how to speak English. Nothing pisses me off more than calling a local business or going out to eat... and getting dial 1 for English 2 for Spanish - or getting a menu that is written in both. This is America - speak English, fly the American Flag (if they love the Mexican flag so much why aren't they in Mexico?) and be a part of the US not a plague on it.

I agree 100%! You move to a foreign country, you don't expect the locals to learn your language right? America shouldn't have to cater to them and what they want, after all the mexicans are ILLEGALLY HERE!

They do need to stop sucking America dry with free medical, free housing, and food stamps. I say they either need to buck up and become Legal Americans... or get thrown back over the border where they came from.

I wish this would happen but it won't

Just too much to read

People must understand, the united states is not like other countries

Take India for example, it's culture and people go back like a zillion years
The U.S. is completely different!
It's culture just started and now it is a cosmopolitan one.

What, U.S. was only free for all for white caucasian europeans?

Either you get used to it or move away

A star and flag for you.

What those who defend illegals do not understand is that the corporations WANT illegals because they are cheap labor that can be treated very poorly. There was even a case about a year ago where illegals were imprisoned [in florida?] by a corporation and actual made slaves! The best thing to do is to get rid of NAFTA, the WTO, and the World Bank/IMF SAPs that created the appalling conditions in third world countries.

Illegal immigration is just one symptom of a much bigger problem, the slow takeover of the world by the central bankers and multinational corporations and the transfer and consolidation of the worlds wealth into the hands of a few.

Note I am a die-hard capitalist but I do not like the "fascism" that has taken over the USA and much of the rest of the world.

Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1938 warned that the growth of private power could lead to fascism:

"The first truth is that the liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism—ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power."

That is what out lobbyists in DC have done, turned the USA into a corporate run fascist state

“Patton Boggs began as an international law firm concentrating in global business and trade in 1962...We were among the first law firms to recognize that all three branches of government could serve as forums in which to achieve client goals, enabling us to emerge as the nation’s leading public policy law firm, and we have developed our extensive business law capabilities into the firm’s largest practice area.” www.pattonboggs.com...

The combined assets of the 50 biggest companies is now 60 per cent of the world's Dollars 20 trillion of productive capital. In eight sectors, including cars, aerospace, electronics, steel, armaments and media, the top five corporations now control 50 per cent of the global market. Increasingly the question is: who governs them? And for whom? Ten corporations now control nearly every aspect of the world's food chain. Four control 90 per cent of the world's exports of corn, wheat, tobacco, tea, pineapple, jute and forest products. www.guardian.co.uk...

Unfortunately both the democrats and republicans are bought and paid for by the corporations and bankers. They no longer represent the American people. Only the internet has helped slow down the march to a totalitarian world government run by the very wealthy.

Thank YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for your honest and revealing observation. I couldn't have said it better myself. I too am a southern california native from Orange County. A once beautiful place to raise a family. I have always made a point to stay away from L.A. for the very same reasons outlined in your post. When I HAD to travel to L.A. it was a whole different world. Bums everywhere, poverty everywhere, the foul stench of human excrement, the noise, traffic, shady people. I am half Mexican... my Mexican grandfather fought in WWII. He despised these these types of people so much so that he scolded my grandmother for speaking to their kids in spanish. Therefore, I am not fluent in spanish. Who knew spanish would be a requirement to obtain jobs in California in the US of A where the national language is ENGLISH!

Some people on this board reading this will have a hard time digesting our shared perceptions. I don't care, I'm sick of having to cater to the lowest common denominator. I'm sick of LA RAZA, I'm sick of GUSTAVO ARELLANO, I'm sick of mexican flags, I'm sick of being asked " y u no speak spanish", I'm sick of getting stared at by uncouth hispanics, I'm sick of gangs and MS13 and the southside movement, I'm sick of seeing litters upon litters of children born out of sheer selfishness to preserve the mother's illegal, yet landlocked status. I'm sick of the injustice to the American people.

Why should the OP have to pay 1100 clams while the criminal pays 400? WHY GOD DAMNIT!!!! My girlfriend is an elementary school teacher in one out of many districts in SOCAL that caters to these illegals. These particular districts are highly funded with lots of provisions for anchor kids utilizing the latest in technology like the new interactive smartboards. I might also add she's overpaid thanks to ignorant products of illegal immigration. You see, there has to be some kind of an incentive to deal with these children. I've seen and helped grade their schoolwork... it is woeful at best.

Now, it's time for my experience at the hospital! It was in Pomona, a giant hospital at the E.R. where i had to do some intern work for my EMT class. I can't possibly tell you how disgusted I was! I thought I was in the very heart of mexico! Just as the OP stated they come in with runny noses, they bring their litter in to get treated for a fever of 100 degrees. They DEMAND prompt service and translators. Word gets around that hospitals can not refuse treatment no matter how petty the ailment. The knowledge of American customs and law is inversely proportional to the knowledge of how to work the system. SAD! Then, they take their anger out on us Americans because we beat them fair and square for land that was not properly annexed in the first place! They should be pissed at their own sorry excuse for a country!!!

After my hospital experience I thought twice about the emergency services field. Why would I want to help those that hate me and call me pocho?
Don't like my attitude? TOUGH SHIZZNIT!! Go down to mexico and park your ass on the street and see if they give you free medical care, a roof over your head, and vouchers for free food. Go ahead I dare you! Know what else I hate about illegals? They're thieves! Poverty breeds crime. I was once a plumber with fine tools and torches and all kinds of goodies that would make Tim Allen proud. It all got ripped off on the "illegal side of town". Thousands of dollars gone. On construction sites of big rich housing developments they'd come and rip off TENS OF tHOUSANDS of dollars in drywall, lumber and other building materials. I know cuz I've seen it the morning after. DISGUSTING!
Ohh did I mention the near death experiences of having a F-ING gun to my head AND surviving gunshot wounds?! SO F-U bleeding hearts and pro LA RAZA paizanos.... Go back to Mexico and reclaim ur own GOD DAMNED country!!! The dude abides

they get salary, non-taxed and often live somewhere for free
sometimes at the company where they work especially if it's a restaurant and eat for free too.

I've read every single post in this thread so far, that's how interesting I think it is.

For those who say "blame the government" I have this to say;

1.) Yes, the Government failed us in many respects. They have lied to us, they have done the opposite of what they promised once voted into office, and since the corruption and greed go incredibly deep it is very difficult to discern between the honest and the deceitful ones. I have no idea how to fix this other than to dispose of them all and bring new faces in. Unfortunately as human nature goes when in power, many of those faces may succumb to money, power, or fear for their lives as those before them have. There are powerful forces out there who bribe, force, threaten and frighten others in order to get their way.

2.) Government is only half the problem. The second part of the problem are the illegal/legal immigrants themselves! We cannot blame all the problems on law-enforcement. We must take responsibility for our own actions! As an immigrant to a new nation one must think about the reason one is leaving their country of origin!

Immigrants must question themselves. They must realize that they are leaving their country of origin, because it is no longer suitable to live in. You are entering a new country with new laws, new values, a new/different moral system, a new way of life. When you come here you must look around and observe how the GOOD citizens of this country go about their lives. The immigrant must learn why the standard of living here is higher, and HOW to MAINTAIN it!

The following list would be considered the ideal in my opinion, and most good citizens of this country adhere to it most (though not all) of the time. When adhering to it, people can coexist with each other with minimal clashing despite being of different culture/language/race.

A.) First of all the citizens speak English when conducting business and when addressing other citizens.

B.) They like to keep their homes looking nice and tidy in order to keep up the neighborhood, and the happiness of their neighbors. (A person doesn't have to be rich to have a tidy home).

C.) They go to work and make a living, hopefully and ideally living within their means.

D.) They don't deface public or private property, because they realize they all have to live in the same neighborhood and like to have nice things. Things like graffiti belong in an art gallery, one's own back yard, or a designated space for it.

E.) They don't use social services unless ABSOLUTELY necessary, and they refuse to take government aid once they have the ability to sustain themselves again. This way when someone is truly in need, there is enough money to help those who need it most. If people are not abusing the system, taxes also do not have to be raised so high.

F.) They place high value on education, because they know that with education come the higher-paying jobs. Or at least the idea is that a person expands their horizons and learns new ways to use their brain in order to survive in this society.

G.) They respect the laws of the land and road.

H.) They address each other in a respectful manner when appropriate.

I.) They raise their children to understand all these values, reasons for them, and they are taught to respect (harmless) others regardless of race, religion or culture.

If immigrants could follow these rules and respect their new host country, then I don't think we would have half the problems we have now. I for one am glad we have so many immigrants (I being one of them), because I love the diversity in food, products, art, stories/books, some architecture, new ideas and so on and so forth.

If some of them could just look around when they come to this country and RESPECT the new culture they are entering,... the very culture who is about to provide them with more lavish opportunities than they could acquire in their home countries, I don't think the citizens of this country would be so outraged.

So all in all it comes down to two things... Immigrants respecting their host countries by at least trying to assimilate, and the government making it easier to immigrate here legally while enforcing the borders to the full extent. Most of the criminals would be kept out, and the people looking for a new life would be able to come here legally.

As for English being difficult to learn for older people,... yes, this is true, but to an extent! My parents learned the language of two different host countries. They had/have thick accents, but they can communicate in English just fine. At home they speak our native language, and out in the world they speak English no matter how broken it may be. If you're truly determined, almost anything can be accomplished. It's a question of what you're willing to do to reach your goal. We came here with almost absolutely nothing, and my parents worked their way up the hard way. They learned English, they pushed us to get an education, and we eventually got out of the bad neighborhoods. All of us now live in safe, nice places thanks to the hard work.

One last thing. I understand that it is difficult to integrate into a society when you first arrive. I've had to do it twice! Sometimes the host country citizens are not going to like immigrants no matter what color you are. In Germany, many Germans disliked/hated immigrants... even the white ones! Why? Because many of them were messy and they didn't have the pride in their work that many Germans did. What turned those German attitudes around was the behavior of the immigrants. When they saw that you were honestly trying to learn their language, their culture, and you worked hard, they WELCOMED you! I faced prejudice at school and so did my younger sister. Her teacher always complained to my parents that she was too anti-social when in fact it was the German kids who refused to play with her. It's worse if you have an accent. Luckily we were able to learn German to the point where they could no longer tell we were not native. So yes, as immigrants you are going to have some adversity, some more than others, but the point is to show the host citizens that you are willing to work your way up, that you are learning their ways, you're following their laws, and you're not a leech on their society. That's all you can really do. When you reach that point, you will also reach acceptance from at least 85% of the population as opposed to 50% or less. That's my take on it.

I live in So. Cal. So I'm familiar with the sheer magnitude of the problem written in the OP. While it's easy to become somewhat bigoted towards illegal immigrants the more you think about the problem the easier it is to see that the issue is one of culture which is a direct by-product of poverty. The reason many of these people behave little better than animals is due to behavioral characteristics picked up as a result of family members having to scavenge to survive.

With little to no education (which is usually a problem /w rearing & stability), a government that's more than willing to kick them out, they have no incentive to behave in a manner that benefits the United States or her citizens. So they treat our country as they would a rental motel, trashing the place because why care if they have no stake?

This is the argument for amnesty.

Make them feel like they have a reason to be here and they might treat the US with some respect rather than acting like an invading army trying to loot what they can before they return home. There are numerous other benefits too. It would force employers to provide fair compensation or face litigation. If they were given citizenship it would decrease the "anchor baby" population explosion. For those who receive amnesty there could be a requirement to take classes to learn US values and develop a basic grasp of the language.

The advantages are numerous and it's one of the few solutions that doesn't end in a humanitarian nightmare.

This all reminds me of the 'Goobacks' episode of South Park. In that episode all these people from the future come back in time and take everyones jobs because they are willing to work for 25 cents an hour.

In the episode one of the main characters, Stan, makes a very good point. He basically says that the reason people keep coming back from the future is because it sucks in the future. But the problem is that if everyone comes back from the future then it's gonna suck in the present as well, and that to stop it we need to make the future better.

Its the same situation here. People are coming from all these hispanic countries because it's so much better in America. But as the OP points out, it's just making things bad in America as well. So eventually America is gonna be just like these third world countries.

So the best way to stop it would be to help these immigrants make they're own countries a better place to live. To be honest though we don't have to do anything. If we just stopped creating all this third world debt and stop sending these economic 'Hitmen' in to destabilize these countries, they would prosper by themselves.

Of course this is probably a subject for another thread, but I think it very relevant.

Just food for thought.

…Oh yeah …. 'They took our Jobs!!!'

Nobody wants to ban immigration altogether. We need to ban ILLEGAL immigration, and enforce this law. That is the problem.

To come live somewhere without the authorities knowing is a crime in most of the world, and it should be so. If not, what should keep milions of hungry africans to just come over here and live off the developed world?

I believe it is all about economics, education and the law of supply and demand. The Mexican government fails to provide adequate education and viable economy so their citizens look elsewhere. America is the land of opportunity especially for someone just coming from a poor country.

You will find the same issues between the Irish and Italians when they immigrated to the US. People on the lower social ladder with little education were usually not welcomed by those who arrived before them. By the locals, they were increased competition in a tight labor market. The only people to benefit are the businesses that exploit such conditions.

You have nothing to apologize for. You should place blame right where it belongs; at the Mexican government for not taking care of their own people. - I am assuming the U.S. had no role in keeping Mexico poor such as other places we have f&*()^! up like Iraq and Iran. Feel free to enlighten me on Mexican politics.

Education also plays an important role in how an individual makes decisions throughout their life. There is a strong link between lack of education, higher birth and crime rates. An educated Mexican populace would have resulted in eliminating most of the problems that persist today.

You will find social problems mentioned are not isolated to any specific race and there are always plenty of examples around the world.

We are not talking about people who come to this country LEGALLY or even the illegals who work and become good "citizens". That is fine and dandy with me and most Americans. Heck three out of four of my grandparents immigrated but they worked. My grandma was widowed when Dad was six. She put ALL four of her kids through college and that was during the Depression. Same with my Mom's family, AND my grandfather put his DAUGHTERS through college even though he was a Muslim Arab! Now thanks to the bleeding hearts the illegals get all sorts of stuff handed to then instead of being deported as Mexico does to their illegals.

Illegals have broken our laws and should not be rewarded for doing so, they should be deported anchor kid or no anchor kid. That is the first law than needs to be changed. A child born in the USA to parents here illegally does not get citizenship period.

I see your point, and once upon a time I also believed that legalizing everyone is the answer. However, what message is that sending to all the people who are considering running to this country illegally? It's not a good solution, because it will only encourage more and more people to enter this country illegally. It sends the message that all they have to do is hop the border and wait ten years, because that's when amnesty for all will come again.

Is it fair to all the other immigrants who came here the hard, legal way? Is it fair to the Indian, Iranian, Polish, Russian, Romanian, Chinese, Korean, African immigrants who struggled to get here legally, following the laws of this country and going through hell to get here?

Mexico is a bad place to live, but still not as bad as some of the other places in this world. Some of these people are very poor, true, but they are not getting mowed down with AK47s daily the way people in some other countries are. They are not getting imprisoned or interrogated for the rest of their lives, one after another, for saying "the president sucks". Their borders are open to other countries and they may travel freely when a visa or a work permit is secured. Hundreds if not thousands of people cross the Mexican/U.S. border every single day, which tells me it ain't as bad as it could be. There are countries on this earth that close their borders and keep their people absolutely blind to the rest of the world. If you try to cross, you'll have to worry about your own people shooting you dead as soon as they see you trying... that's if you make it that far. THOSE are the people who, if crossing illegally, deserve to stay, because they truly have something absolutely real to fear.

My point is... amnesty is NOT the answer. Enforcement of the law, and a more flexible immigration program is the answer here. How can the United States of America force immigrants from other countries to jump through hoops and fire to be here, yet simply reward the Mexican illegals who cross over with amnesty every ten years or so??? Doesn't seem right to me at all. Does it to you?

To the OP, great post, and something we all need to look very closely at. It is plainly not immigration, it is in fact invasion. I was in LA the last time in the mid 80s, and it was still a pretty city then. Before anyone says I stole land from the Native Americans, I am 1/4 Creek myself, on my Father's side. I live most of my adult life in a small town in northern Indiana. Some odd 15,000 people in the town and surrounding area, it is a resort town with two man made lakes. There was a time when home and car doors were left unlocked, and police cars roamed all the time, crime was almost non existent.

In the early 80s, the illegals began to filter in. They all drove new SUVs, bought on credit that we could never have. Soon the emergency room was filled to capacity with them, they use it as their private doctor...the hospital had to float a bond to build a new building, the old one just could not handle the strain. Soon stores began to pop up, and if you cannot speak Spanish, you may as well not got in, the stares alone make you feel like you don't belong there. Young girls started getting pregnant by illegals, who would then fly back to Mexico to avoid child support payments. My own two nieces started dating brothers, both illegal, one turned out to be a crack addict and smuggler, he was stabbed to death in broad daylight, the other brother was found to be a child rapist, he is in for life now for the rape and murder of a 5 year old in Oklahoma. Each of my nieces are trying to raise children with low intelligence, and wonder if they inherited their Father's genes.

On food stamp day, it was best to stay home, the streets would be full, a small traffic jam at the local Welfare office, and the stores were filled with people who stood around talking in their native tongue, ogled the white women, and gave us men real dirty looks if we stole a glance at their women. One guy I knew got shot on the back for trying to talk to a Mexican girl, her brother was arrested and deported the next day. My friend still has a .22 round on his back. Another good friend who ran a local construction company, engaged to be married, was returning from buying the ring from a neighboring city and was hit broadside by a car filled with illegals, none had a license, and no insurance, my friend died at the scene. They had just signed a mortgage to buy a home, and his fiancée committed suicide 4 months later.

I finally had enough, and moved my family to southern Ohio, to another small town. mostly white people live here, some black people, and a few Asians, but everyone gets along, and we all speak English. Now we are seeing Mexicans filter in. The same thing is happening here. I fear that soon there will be no place left that illegals haven't taken over. I have seen first hand the trouble NAFTA caused, and may Bill Clinton burn in hell for that, and everyone who voted for it. A few days ago I was on the highway headed for Columbus. A semi passed us, cut us off, and swerved so hard I though he was going to wreck. Texas apportioned plates on the trailer, the truck was leaving a stream of oil drops on the road, and had a Mexican driver, there was a Mexican flag painted on the grille.

I do not hate them, or their Nation, I just wish our leaders would clean up the mess that made, and secure our borders like they are supposed to.
