What about the masses of cheap labor, doing work legal folks don't want to do, that made your life easier throughout its entirety? You seem concerned with what you see, not what actually affects you.

To the OP: I respect what you have said, and can understand how your experiences have made you angry. Your posts are intelligent and honest even if perhaps they may make you look bigoted For that I award a star and Flag.

What I sense from your post and the many other experiences shared on here is that it's not so much the illegal aliens as it is the MEXICAN illegal aliens. Maybe it's the overwhelming numbers or the radically different cultures, but to say that the MEXICANS brought crime, diseases, gangs, drugs problems ect; must be false. California didn't have those problems before large influxes of immigration?

I CAN speak from experience, I lived as an illegal alien in America for over 25 years, but based on your and others description you wouldn't have had a problem with me. I am white, speak fluent English ( with a deep southern accent to boot) - it was easy for me to integrate, I looked like all the other white Americans. My parents speak English fluently though with strong germanic accents which they never could get rid of..( Imagine growing up with a father who sounded like Arnold Schwarzenegger). You see we had no choice but to integrate, as there wasn't any community for us. Mexicans who come here have communities in which to become part of, why learn to speak English when you can live your whole life speaking Spanish. Other nationalities integrate better becauser they have to!

I worked, illegally. I went to college, illegally using a PELL grant, I voted, illegally I wasn't eligable..but no one EVER questioned me or my parents. For 25 years we lived the "America Dream", my parents raised four kids, the kids had kids, people went to college, had careers...then..9/11. Suddenly..everywhere you went someone needed to see your papers. I worked for a large transportation company which hauled hazerdous materials and after 9/11 I and all my co workers were subject to background checks, that was the the end our our American dream.

After spending thousands of dollars (eventually ran out of money) me, my mum, and my sister decided to take voluntary deportation. We could have stayed on, fought for years longer to get legal but frankly the little money we had left was better used to start a life in what to us amounted to a foreign country. So we did. It was too hard for me to integrate after growing up in America and eventually I moved to the UK, Here I wasn't crippled by only being able to speak English and it just felt more like "home"

My father, my brothers and their kids stayed on and today almost 8 years after we left they are all now either American citizens or green card holders. I assure you however, it wasn't cheap.

It is a myth that the path to citizenship is an easy, cheap option. For a vast majority of Mexicans it would be out of reach.

Can we not be a little more empathetic as people?

Having empathy is one thing. Practice being in my shoes and the shoes of the millions of legal citizens in Los Angeles. Tell me then about empathy.

When your empathy for others cancels out your own well being and safety, it's useless.

If I save a life but kill my own, I saved nobody, I just switched places.

I am not willing to switch places with the "poor Illegals" just to feel like I am empathetic or to feel like a Samaritan.

I failed to mention something in my previous post regarding amnesty. Because the wheels of government grind slowly, and because implementation of such a policy would take time, there would be another problem. Between the time you announce amnesty and the time you fully implement it, there would be an absolute flood of illegal immigration. This would happen even if you never did have a second amnesty later.

OP I must comment on this.
Here in the UK in my area I know many bogus asylum seekers.
The genuine ones get deported a lot more it seems absolutely insane.
I see the doctors refuse to prescribe life saving drugs anymore,all the NHS dentists are full.
The NHS has turned to cack.
The housing waiting list is now past bursting point.
Do you know that I know many illegals who MARRIED,worked self employed and even passed their driving test.
They are economic migrants.
The genuine ones I could cry for..the bogus anger me,my city ,my country has turned to the ****,no wonder BNP and Now EDL are growing stronger.
The border agency is a joke,all you have to do is pay someone jump in the back of a lorry and your away.
What if they are Islamic extremists.
OMG,Im so sick of this even British ethnic minorities are, it affects us all.

souls, I really think you should go back to the beginning of this thread and read every post on every page before you decide that the op hates you and everyone of your descent. I'm just making that suggestion because from the sound of your posts it seems like you read the first post and skipped about four pages so you could just jump in and start calling names.

I think that comment in particular shows that you are not actually taking the time to read the thread because that is exactly what Prove_it_now is trying to say. In other words... the majority of Mexican immigrants as opposed to other immigrants have no respect for the people or the laws in the U.S.

Prove_it_now, I live in a place where I have witnessed much of what you say. Especially when it comes to U.S. citizens being 2nd in line for medical attention even though they are the ones paying the taxes. This kind of topic is very sensitive but it is real and happening now. I believe your right about it being hopeless for some parts of the country but I fear it will be too late when everyone agrees something needs to change.

Sounds like hate crime to me. Not that I care about it, if it was up to me you could say whatever you wanted, remember nowadays people get sued, companies follow. Wasnt there a thread where this guy got sued for calling a female a vulgar word in an email? Mods should deffinetly keep an eye on this thread could be a lot of hate crime going around...

Anyways. Maybe your child like eyes didnt hide anything from you maybe they showed you how it should be? Maybe now with age and conditioning you no longer see hope but hate. My dad doesnt speak english and he is a legal citizen. He doesnt speak english not because he is lazy or because he doesnt want to or dont care like you stated that most do, but because as you grow older learning a different language is hard. He got by without needing to speak it properly. He understands it well, but he doesnt speak it properly. Its difficult for him and for others because of the old age.
You say most speak about immigration from the outside, well I speak it from the inside. Both my parents are immigrants, in this great southern state of Texas, so you better believe their is plenty of people here illegal, Dallas to pe exact. I agree that maybe the laws should be enforced and that the borders could be tighten up a bit, but what I dont agree with is all the hate. What I dont agree with is how when people think immigration and illegals they think mexicans and hispanic children. We forget about others who migrate here illegaly aswell.

I still have hope that maybe one day we will all get along, like the feeling you had as a child, well I had that same feeling aswell, only difference is im still holding on to it.

Many who complain openly about illegal immigration love latino culture, I know I do.
We have an established culture in America which is a mix, we just don;t want to see one "flavor" if you will, overpower all the others.

I worked in trade jobs ( construction, manufacturing, restaurants, etc. ) for many years in California. Trade jobs today in California are dominated by an illegal work force. With this illegal work force there comes a mind boggling array of problems for both the legal work force that must compete with them directly, and the tax payers that must watch helplessly as their tax contributions are squandered on social programs, which spoon feed millions of illegal opportunists.

BTW, you can thank our government for creating this problem. But remember it is the corporations that pay off the politicians, to get them to turn their backs on the issue of illegal immigration.

I would normally get a bit upset at this point, but im glad people like you exist, to show others of what not to be. Did we all forget about American Football player by the name of Michael Vick? Or how about all the other American criminals?

The thing about some americans like you is that you are too afraid to stand up for something, you lack courage. You rant about how you hate your neigbhoors crap all over their uncut lawn. Well, get off your a$$ and do something about it. Tell them you want that crap clean. Its insane how yall cry for help and complain about everything else, its disgusting. Get upset because other people well work for less, all that does is show your work ethic. Why dont you take all the jobs that pay less so that all the immigrants can leave because theres no work. Um, no to all that follow. I also stated that if it was up to me I wouldnt care what you say. Why is that you pick what will work best for your next offense? Second, I admitted my parents are immigrants, also that they are now legal citizens and residents. Amnesty of 86 we thank you. lol.

This is the biggest line of BS I've ever heard fed. At the Northrup Grumman shipyard in Pascagoula, MS there are numerous illegals working there that cannot speak English and are making $21 per hour. Now you tell my son why he is working making $8 per hour when we have hundreds of positions filled by illegals at the shipyard making $21?

And lets look at the construction, numerous people on welfare that would be filling the construction work positions....

Jobs we don't want....yeah....right....
