How Illegal Immigration Has Affected Me Through The Years

As a Hispanic immigrant from Central America(Born to Cuban parents ) I say Star and Flag and thank you for such an honest post. I used to live in LA. I had to live in the barrio, and it is a culture that is totally separate from what I was raised with.

Gangs, drugs, random shootings, thrill kills, and a whole host of other problems plague all places that do not watch who comes into their country. And I believe this is the point the OP was trying to make. I did not detect racism in your post, I detected frustration with the effects of illegal immigration, the same effect one would find IN ANY OTHER NATION. The UK for instance, and the flood of Arab Muslims who refuse to assimilate into British society and who seek to replace British Law with Islamic Law.

My family and I assimilated just fine because we weren't looking to turn the new home into the dump we came from, we came here to be Americans. And I hope anyone who read the OP has come away with the same conclusion-though I doubt it.

As a proud 9th generation fighting American, born of the original Spanish settlers to Colorado and New Mexico, I welcome and thank you for your sentiment.

A couple points:

1. Please don't confuse the term Hispanic with Mexicans and Mestizos (illegals). They are different.

2. I muse about the immigration problem and wonder if it is indeed a conspiracy by the Secret Government to confuse and bewilder the native populace. Or perhaps Mexican Illuminati (who are of Spanish descent) are sending their tired, poor and hungry North to stave off a revolution in their own country (which has happened many times in the past). For as much as us American Natives whine about the situation in the USA, Mexico is truly f*cked. Remember your ancestors and the fact that they fought and bled for this land. Literally and figuratively. Don't run away, stay and fight.

3. Once a nation reaches a certain age, just like a normal human being, it contracts certain diseases. Note the recent history of Europe: ethnic cleansing.

Is it fair to all the other immigrants who came here the hard, legal way? Is it fair to the Indian, Iranian, Polish, Russian, Romanian, Chinese, Korean, African immigrants who struggled to get here legally, following the laws of this country and going through hell to get here?

The world isn't fair. If it were everyone would have an equal standard of living. Remember what happened after WWI? The Treaty of Versailles dumped the financial burden on Germany. Since the Germans had no way to repay the debt, their currency hyper-inflated and that helped set the stage for WWII.

What seems punitively "fair" often results in a worse crime. Sometimes forgiveness is the only solution.

My point is... amnesty is NOT the answer. Enforcement of the law, and a more flexible immigration program is the answer here. How can the United States of America force immigrants from other countries to jump through hoops and fire to be here, yet simply reward the Mexican illegals who cross over with amnesty every ten years or so??? Doesn't seem right to me at all. Does it to you?

Of course it's not fair, but we have to recognize that the problem isn't going away despite our best efforts to police our borders. If we keep to our current path and continue what we've been doing, 10 years from now we'll see we've just been moving the paperwork from the out-pile back to the in-pile.

The problem is a financial and cultural one. That's what has to be solved.

Not all illegal immigrants are incapable or unwilling to work. If that were the case we wouldn't see all these poor schlubs standing outside Home Depot. These people simply have a low value skill-set.

To really illustrate the extents of the problem imagine if everyone possessed a bachelor's degree. The problem wouldn't go away it would actually compound because now all people would be equally valuable or valueless depending on how you look at it.

The problem is one of scarcity and to deal with this requires an entirely new way of thinking.

Well thought out replies by all and in generall no attacks just different points of view which have mostly been well thought out. I'm impressed the way this thread has progressed. 1. When it comes to america it drives me nuts to hear "well 600 years ago you did this and 200 years ago that" It's 2010 deal with it. It is what it is and what it is, is america. It is our country and our laws. If you think this is not our land then i sure hope you support Israel being the rightful owner to the west bank, Or curse your forefathers for not fighting hard enough for it. Mine did!!
2. I am as right wing conservative as you will find so please don't paint me in the corner or others like me as not supporting immigration. We are the one's who read U.S. history and love immigration. I want illegals out and the process to legally become a citizen streamlined. Come one and all LEGALLY.
3. Realize those who did this process legally are being hammered by those who are ruining this country and are seeing no benefit for doing it right.
4. If a group of aussie jumped out of a plane with guns, killed U.S. citizens, raped women and children and took over cities what would you call them? The right wants illigals for cheap labor and the left want there votes. I don't know if truer words have been spoken and IMO clearly summizes our situation.

I'll I can say to this is the following:

This is not about you the normal Joe Shmoe... The only people that actually have something to say about illegal immigration are people that NEED public hospitals, school and any other public service you can think of.
People like me in the other hand don't need public anything... So yes, this is not about color or nationality this is about...

Illegals (sadly) are the backbone of our system. without them,who will work at the fields? restaurants? who will take the jobs nobody wants for less than minimum wage?

I personally think there actually is a conspiracy to keep the borders open; however, my insight on it is extremely controversial. In short, I believe there is a race war being fought invisible to the general population, but apparent to the ones that are aware of genetics and the 'genetic preservationists' of this country. Definitely a conspiracy, and from a biological standpoint, it is a genetic conspiracy. If you think eugenics, genetic preservation, and the 'master-race-mentality- is a thing of the past, think again. Master-race-mentality was alive and well half a century ago, and it is still alive today. Of that you can be absolutely certain.

8) Boycott boycott boycott....drown them out. Buy local, buy American.

9) Challenge your Congressmen at district or precinct meetings. Go with a group of like minded people and tell them you don't want to deal with it anymore. Go with a list of local businesses that employ Illegals and speak their names out in the open. Expose them in public.

10) Make up stickers that say "Illegals Hired Here"..or "Hates the American Worker"...something catchy. Post them on businesses you KNOW employ them. Pressure local places like Home Depot and other construction based Corporations.

11) Boycott Spanish speaking radio stations.


Nothing works without Marketing. You have to literally MARKET the idea that Illegal Immigration is harming us (weird huh?). Make it viral, make it known from all sides. Force the Gov and Corps to DEAL with you.

I am surrounded in city where it seems that most anyone "Hispanic" supports Illegal Immigration. I said MOST, not all.

When I hear or see a "Hispanic" person understand that they are Americans and support our interests, I feel a little relief.

Let me be clear here please. When I say "support America", I don't mean flag waving, I don't mean some false sense of Patriotism or Xenophobia.
I don't mean "AMURKA is number one buddy....git er done". I don't mean we are the big kid on the block and America deserves some unfounded respect. I don't mean to rally around some idea of Apple Pie.

I am a Progressive Libertarian, and a Constitutionalist. I have Liberal views and Conservative ones. I do NOT support the two party system and know that both have failed us in their own ways.

My only Dog in this race is that my neighbors, all of my countrymen INCLUDING THE HISPANIC ones, are thriving in a thriving nation, and that we can reverse the damage done by the "ELITES".

It is going to take the full cooperation of us that still want America to be it's best to come together against Illegal Immigration...along with the MYRIAD of other problems facing us. Illegal Immigration is only one part of the problem...that is true.


But this thread was made out of my anger for what I see LOCALLY, so I chose to speak about it.

If a Hispanic man or woman feels the way I do, they are on my same page, and I would gladly take a bullet for them if the day came we fought from the same trenches.

We could really use the assistance of Hispanics to help us fight the Power that Be. I would like nothing more than Americans to join together, from ALL races and colors, to fight these bastards and stomp them out.

One of my cousins is in jail (or something similar) right now and he’s only fifteen! There is no doubt in my mind that they will continue this cycle of destruction that has overtaken this country, as my race seems to breed like rabbits.

I don’t like to speak my mind to anybody not only because feel like a traitor to my own kind, but also because I am able to sense the hypocrisy that comes from my words. It saddens me to read about the OP’s new-found bigotry. I’m sorry for what my kind has done; we are not all like that; but you can’t be blamed. We call girls sluts and whores for getting pregnant. We then turn around and immediately condemn the guy for not zipping his pants, but then say there should be equal rights. We put all the costs off on the guy and then give the girl all the "support" she needs because it's a traumatic experience for her. We tell our kids that they don't know what love is because they don't have crows feet... beyond that, we convince them that we don't love them by telling them that THEY DON'T KNOW LOVE! Well... how are they supposed to know love if they don't GIVE BIRTH then? Oh, and, let's applaud society for its ability to make a guy feel like even WANTING to be with a woman. What if the woman wants to manipulate and literally emotionally and financially rape the guy for all he's worth so she can get away scott-free - house, kids, car, government help, free legal representation, AND HALF HIS PAYCHECK! Yes... there are women who do this. And it is not just an abuse of the system --- IT IS THE SYSTEM.

Way to go society on convincing women that they should even get with a guy! Guys are abusive, stupid, lazy, uneducated, and follow their penis into pencil sharpeners! A GUY COULDN'T POSSIBLY KNOW HOW TO TAKE CARE OF A KID! A guy doesn't have feelings. A guy doesn't care about you, but your ass! Then, you only continue to further on your rant and say your "Childish eyes blocked you from seeing". I understand what you're saying but isn't unity and diversity the answer to all of our problems? If people didn't hate each other, or not want them there wouldn't that solve everything? You were raised in Los Angeles, correct? So you must have seen a lot of drug trades and violence. I'm not feeling pity for myself, If anything I'm feeling pity for the racist who have their eyes sewed shut, just like yourself. How can you be ashamed to be Half-Mexican?
