Yes that was what I wanted. A personal answer not based on history or anything... just your thoughts, something I couldnt answer back based on facts, something that was your opinion and not something that can be disputed.

OK I have read through this Thread and found both sides ranting at each other. Why don't you start doing something about creating peace, if this subject of middle east, bothers you so much? You all fight each other over the Gaza Strip instead of doing something practical to ease the tension there. I've worked to bring turk and Greek cypriots together, in Cyprus, and have lived and worked amongst the arabs in the Sinai. They all for the most part hardworking, decent law abiding people, who want peace. I'm sure that most Jewish people are the same as well. Look forward to hearing positive comments from ATS people about creating peace and goodwill. Please tell me that you will stop acting like angry children.

I must agree with the initial post here, hamas are sworn to the extermination of the entire state of Israel. When the state of Israel was created after WW2, it was in an area that was arid and that noone wanted. Israel took that scrap of land and made something out of it! palestinians are jealous. Why don't any of their muslim "brother nations" take them in?? I'll tell you why--they don't want them because they are troublemakers. Look around the world, anywhere muslims go they cause problems. ie the phillipines, russia, indonesia, the us, and now even in europe--does anyone remember the spanish train bombings? They are not happy anywhere they go. they would not be happy until Israel disappeared off the face of the earth. Israel cannot allow this to continue, would you if you lived there?

I have a few comments and questions on this matter, and will more than likely show some ignorance on the subject.

1. Was the original "zionist" movement in the early 20th century actually an attempt of Jewish people buying inhospitable land from the people already living there?

If that is the case then who legally owns the land?

2. Why don't Muslim countries raise hell about the conditions of Palestinians in Jordan, who do not have the right to inherit property from their fathers at death? Is that not the same as stealing? What about the right of no return ( I am somewhat confused about this )

3. The Palestinians in the Gaza Strip voted Hamas into power if I am correct, knowing full well that Hamas would never accept Isreal's right to exist. With this being a fact, who is to blame for the lack of productivity, aid, transportation? The West Bank under Abbas seems to be doing fairly well, correct?

4. The Gaza Strip has a border with Egypt, who has shown no regard for the well being of the people of Gaza, Where is the Muslim outrage at that?

This is a fairly easy thing to overcome. The people of Gaza need to remove Hamas from power, accept Abbas as their leader, accept that Israel has the right to exist and stop the rocket attacks across the border.

Unfortunately this will never happen because they want to continue to be seen as victims, Hamas will never give up power, nor will they ever do what is best for their people and recognize Israel.

Spreading "good news" is worthless if it isn't backed up by deeds. Actual honest to goodness actions that back up your words. Nobody is going to believe in your Good News if you don't make a sacrifice with your time and money to create peace. Spreading nothing but words is pointless.

You'll find a lot of Muslim outrage with regards all of the points you make, and some good arguments from Egypt, Jordan, Hammas etc that go someway to explain their actions.

You won't find them on Sky News, BBC, CNN etc - you have to broaden your horizons - maybe flick onto Al Jazeera etc now and again.

If you only hear one very biased account, without looking at the other (possibly also very biased account in the other direction) then you will no doubt form a very bias point of view backed up by only half of the facts.

I agree with you. It's a shame the Jew bashers, I mean, Israel bashers don't study History. Except for Revisionist History.

there is no true history - only the collection of facts - bias and unbias that we have recorded. The best you can do is look at them all and draw your own conclusions.

Why hate. If you think about it from their perspesctive and their way of thinking they are correct in what they do. Same as the only reasons none of you like what they are doing is because of the way you were raised. Remember to keep an open mind about it all and try to see it from there perspective.

Yes, Palestinians are Semitic. Shem was the common ancestor of everyone in the region. Shem was one of the sons of Noah...the guy with the ark.

So to say a Palestinian is an anti-semite is like calling a white person an anti-caucasian...

There is debate that some of the European Jews who went to Palestine aren't actual descendants of Shem...that they are descendants of Russians who converted to Judaism for political reasons in the 7th or 8th century...

But, there is a bigger issue to all of this. The miserable conditions of many of the world's people is the result of several factors (e.g. the national leadership, the ignorance of the masses, etc...). One important factor is the way the global system is run. The capitalist & mixed economic system provide a way distribute and manage scarce resources. However, weathier nations, like the US, have managed to get more for their dollar around the world, basically doing the third world nations of the world in the rear. That what the World Trade Organization and the World Bank are for: exploiting the third-world and keeping the power and wealth where it belongs (the hands of the PTB). How can we not expect these third-world people not to hate us when they see what moderately comfortable, spoiled, and violent lives we lead in the US? When we send missionaries and Westerners intent on polluting or radically changing the indigenous culture/religion? How can we not expect the Palestinians, ignorant and desperate as they are, to do what they have to do to keep Israel off their land? What would you do if you saw you 4-year old son killed by indifferent Israeli bombs and then hear that the most powerful nation in the world (the US) is against your people and could care less if you were dead? What if you knew that you grandparents were kicked off their property because a religious minority claimed that God chose the land for them (the Jews)? Face it, Jews are just as racist as other ethnicities can be: they frown on marrying outside their religion/race and like to see themselves as better than others. The Israelis and Jews are no different than anyone else whose existed on this planet. They are not Chosen, no one really is. We are born, we live somewhat ok, then we die. Human life is nothing more than an organized agglomeration of complicated metabolic reactions that are encoded in the DNA of most cells in the body. Anything special in that?! Everyone who has existed takes a crap like everyone else. But, that image does not excuse anyone (Jewish, Muslim, Taoist,etc...) from killing and torturing and spying on other territories/nations. Israel should be the bigger man in the conflict and provide an example of good-heartedness in the Mid-East. The fighting will stop once everyone can see the bigger picture, becomes educated, and once the PTB make smarter moves than keeping humanity stuck in a Stone-Age mindset. We are lucky to be alive each day and everyone should feel that way. But, it takes time.

I feel something is very wrong with the way people are trying to resolve things. Somehow people always think violence can be resolved with more violence... I wish somehow the total human race could be lifted from this Neanderthalic thought and became a bit smarter than that.

And to think, scientists have postulated that we actually killed off the Neanderthal, but in reality, there was most likely some interbreeding going on... which is why we are all still very Neanderthal like in our perceptions.
