Now im going to take you people on a small history lesson, so before you join your `boycot israeli goods` campaign every saturday, listen up REAL GOOD!

Okay. You may want to be sure that you have a proper look at the history, though. From what I see in your post, you've not done that and maintained an objective approach.

I'm not having a go. Personally I feel you're correct in your assertion that Israel has every right to punish and, hopefully, eradicate Hamas. Everyday Palestinians, though, are a different matter.

Now the 2 or 3 years of the `final solution`.. which is basically what adolf hitlers gassing of the jews was called, NOBODY DID ANYTHING ABOUT IT... NODBODY STEPPED IN, NOBODY LIFTED A FINGER TO HELP THE JEWISH PEOPLE!!!!!

What do you suggest we shgould have done, exactly? For the record, everyone who may have done something were caught up in War War II.

Israel finally has its own legal state, finally for the first time in jewish history they have somewhere to live.... and they are damn sure not giving it away or losing it to anyone!

It isn't the state proposed by the UN, though. Israel has taken lands planned for Palestinian Arabs.

For many years, there have been sucide bombers killing people in israel, in market places, stations, etc etc (im sory but theres NO JUSTIFICATION for going into a crowded market place and shouting `jihad` and blowing yourself up.. NOTHING.. no `well you have to look at the causes for doing this` .. SORRY nothing justifies it!.

I agree.

December 13,1947: Zionist terrorists, believed to be members of Irgun Zvai Leumi, killed 18 Arabs and wounded nearly 60 in Jerusalem, Jaffa and Lydda areas. In Jerusalem, bombs were thrown in an Arab market-place near the Damascus Gate; in Jaffa, bombs were thrown into an Arab cafe; in the Arab village of Al Abbasya, near Lydda, 12 Arabs were killed in an attack with mortars and automatic weapons.

One of several examples I can cite. Google for Irgun, Hagenah or the Stern Gang for more.

Well if anything I have been educated on the issues in the area.

I do though believe the killing and the starvation needs to stop! The only way any of this will come to any good I see is a total takeover of the area by the aliens. Then we will have a equal balanced situation. Non partisan Non religous.

At the risk of offending a mod: this is a puff piece written for the sole purpose of tugging on the heartstrings of the world. It was almost as bad as that episode of the Simpsons when Bart and Lisa got intern jobs at the local news station under the tutelage of Kent Brockman (sorry if you're not a Simpsons fan).

Anyway, the plight of the Palestinian people has been brought on themselves. They keep falling for the wrong leadership. They are so filled with hatred for Israel that they are willing to look like the world's whipping post. They know they will never defeat them militarily, so they constantly try to make them look like the bad guy. Which, based on most of the posts in this thread, they've been successful.

To an earlier post asking for a link to the surrender the Palestinians signed at the end of the 1967 war: there is none, because the people of that region were not a nation. They were a group of loosely related nomadic people who had no form of government. They often fought amongst themselves to acquire land. They were the outcasts of the Arab world. Whenever they fought amongst themselves the vanquished honored the victors conquest. But when Israel comes along and tries to play by their rules - that doesn't count because Israel are infidels.

Just sitting here signing "0h Canada......" and think how lucky I am to live where I do. Not because it is perfect or best place to live but because I can have a street party and have my Muslim, Jewish, Catholic, Rastafarian friends all bring out there children and have an enjoyable UNIFIED time together without anyone trying to kill each other. The 17 plus pages of hate that has been posted (both sides) just makes me sad. Sad because if we can't have civilized discussions about the past and present here than how can we expect those directly involved to do the same( note: sorry if there are people on here that were alive 2000 years ago) but none of us know our true history and I don't thinks it's possible we ever will. It is all words by man written by man and translated by man. People love a great story and to make the story better we put our own little spin on it. The part that bothers me the most is all the 2 million dead no its 6 million dead blah blah blah. i don't care if it was 10 dead it wasn't right and its sad we can learn from it. Please people wake up don't take side. If your really need to pick a side than choose humanity because thats what WE ALL ARE! sorry for the caps

Listen OP, I understand what you are saying and I know thousands of jews feel the same as you do. Yet you won't gain anything from looking back and neither will the Pallestines. Nobody every got better from their victim role. Of course you are a victim, I'm not saying you aren't, but if you look back enough everybody is a victim. Afro Americans were slaves, the dutch anthem still tells us to honour the king of spain, the Indians were slaughterd, you name me one sort of people who hasn't been treated like sh%t...

I feel something is very wrong with the way people are trying to resolve things. Somehow people always think violence can be resolved with more violence... I wish somehow the total human race could be lifted from this Neanderthalic thought and became a bit smarter than that.

Are you saying that the facts are inaccurate? May I ask why Israeli women feel the need to volunteer to help out the Palistinians? I take it you read the whole article and the links as well. If not you may look like Krusty the Clown.

Here's my opinion of the situation...

Because of anti-Jewish sentiment in Europe prior to WWII and so to keep the peace post-WWII, the western powers wanted to carve out a country of land for the Jews (away from Europe, where anti-Jewish feelings could have re-escalated). So they picked the Palestinian land to turn over to the Jews. This was the U.N. trying its hand at nation building.

They all meant well by the plan and the establishment of a new Jewish homeland, but it was ultimately not a good idea. They didn't factor in a fair and equitable compensation for displaced Palestinians.

The creation of Israel was a mistake. After WWII, Jewish families could have been given some reparation money ultimately paid for by West Germany. Then with the head start funds they could have been told to settle wherever they liked but in already existing countries, but no new country would be carved out for them. I think this plan would have worked far better than making up the new country of Israel.

The U.S. backing Israel all these years and digging in heels to support Israel, in my opinion has been a failed foreign policy.

What can be done now?

My advice would be for the U.S. to stop selling war materials to both sides. The way the territorial dispute is going to be resolved is by war, so let them go at it, but the U.S. should now adopt a neutral role and just let them fight it out. I know it's a terrible thing to let war solve a problem but sometimes that is what has to happen. Taking sides with Israel or the Palestinians now and fueling the fire is a wrong strategy, however.

Unfortunately the damage has been done as far as setting up the Jewish country of Israel in a place where it did not belong (I don't know of anyplace it does belong). Isn't it obvious that the Jews in Israel have discriminated against the Palestinians? I don't see how they have been fair at all.

I'm really all for the U.S. getting completely out of the Middle East and not doing business with any of them. We need to be more self-sufficient and get out of the business of nation building.

By the way, I think suicide bombers and such as that are despicable and there is never any justification whatsoever for that kind of behavior. Ditto the rockets coming from both sides. But what can you do other than just get out and let them fight it out.

We also need to get back a lot of the financial aid that has been given to Israel over the years that they could pay back but won't.

The Palestinians will never take control of Israel so why not move somewhere else? Maybe they can live in some other arab country but that probally wouldn't work either because those arab countries would lose their frontline in their war against Israel. When are people, that sympathize with the terrorists going to realize that this isn't about land or occupation. That's just propaganda created by the Islamic Extremists and you all are buying into it. It is about their uncontrolable desire to annililate the Jewish people.

1: Palestinians are semites, people that are against Israeli actions are actually pro-semetic ...
2: I for one and from what I read, alot of other people who are against Israeli actions are against Israels actions and only Israel, I don't see anyone having a beef with Jews. So Anti-Simetic? Who? You for hating Palestinians?
3: I've actually spoken with quite a few Jewish people here in Belgium, I come in contact with them daily and they aren't all to happy about Israels course of action either. So are the Jewish people Anti-Semite?

Hey, Hey, Kids! Where are the Palestinian women wanting to help out the Israeli women? Oh, that's right, if they ever did then they would get stoned to death or beaten or tortured.

The mere fact that Israeli women are wanting to help the Palestinian women is yet another example of how these two peoples are NOT morally equivalent.

Thats not a history lesson but it is completely biased and disrespectful to Muslims and they Jews were always kicked out and exiled for reasons...always there was a reason...and what about Stalin he killed even more people but that was forgotten...so forget about the 6 million Jews that Hitler killed...Look over the last few hundred years and how Jews decided to take most of the Middle East while taking away from the Palestinians.

Too bad America loves the Jews too much to stop helping them...which in my opinion is pretty stupid *vulgar statement removed* just because they got money and America just loves money.

Uh - not all Americans are happy with their government's actions either - especially Americans abroad...what's your point??

Is the fact that there are Jewish people around the world who don't have the stomach for what their government is doing some how make defending the homeland wrong?

Sorry, that's a straw-man argument.

Erm, Jewish people aren't from Israel.

2/3's of the Jewish people live all over the globe and have never and will likely never live in Israel or claim citizenship of that country.

My point is that Israel DOES NOT EQUAL The Jewish People, not by a longshot.

The Jews that lay at the foundations of Israel and run it to this day aren't even the same Jewish people that got slaughtered by the millions by the Nazi's.

The Jewish people that got captured all over Europe and got shipped to death camps moved back HOME, to their HOMES in EUROPE, not to Israel.

I disrespect ignorance and evil. And yes, the Jews were kicked out of places and it was usually because they were too successful. Success always threatens mediocrity. So if you want to be liked and admired by everyone - be a loser!

Maybe not literally - but I think you would find that there are more Jewish people around the globe who have at least a sentimental attachment to Israel than not.

The fact that they even show an interest in what's going on there is testament to that.
