I whole heartedly agree with you...there IS a whole lot of history omitted from between those two statements. I believe the key to explaining how we got to where we are today is in there...which is ~probably~ why the OP omitted it...

As was mentioned initially if America had another country shooting rockets into it we would not ask them to stop, we would make an example of them to the world and feel justified in the process. This type of response may generate alot of hate but it sure sends a message that needs little translation.

Most of the below is from another Post I made but the history is the same

In 1917 Arthur J Balfour came up with the idea of a "National Home" for the Jewish people in what was considered Palestinian Territory based on the UK's Partitioning after the World War I by the way Arthur J Balfour was the British Foreigh Secretary and the decision was known as the Balfour Decleration"

From 1936-to about 1939 the Arabs of Palestine revolted the Bristish Army quelled the revolt

In 1947 and with the Balfour Declaration being decided on for way too long The UN decided to Partition the Palestine Territory into two seperate states one for the Palestinians and the other for the Jewish People

In 1948 the British Withdrew from Palestine without implementing the UN Partition and left it to war. Jordan and Egypt occupied the Palastinian Territory (Jordan-the west bank and Egypt the gaza strip) Israel won effectively taking the territory. A territory which was used to launch an attack on their homeland. Technically the spoils of war, land that could be used as a staging point fora future attacks, in other words a Center of Gravity, in wars and for wars to be won you remove centers of gravity as a means of bring attrition to the enemies war machine.

my next question to the author is in the listed history above, is how did the US have anything to do with supplying the land to Israel. They didn't. Other than perhaps a council vote. If you are going to write give a little research to what your offering the rest of us.

I picture myself coming home from work one day and there are three people in my yard. I ask them what they are doing there and they say that god gave them this land and they are now settling in. I go in my house and there are two people sitting on my living room couch professing the same mantra. I look out back and there are two adults with a kid and a grill and they are telling me that my fountain and yard gnomes belong to them.

When I start kicking a metric ton of azz, their richer, more powerful wing men come in and give them all kinds of gadgets to destroy me. The same wing men then take my home and land, give the front yard, two bedrooms, and the kitchen to the settlers and leave me with the rest of the house. Over time, and even with their wing men saying that enough is enough, the settlers gradually take over the other two bedrooms, the den, the gazebo, and my rec room, leaving me with the finished room over the garage. The settlers then decide to demolish my house because they want to build something a little more "cozy" on what is now THEIR land.

Trust me, there would be no peace. Everyday I came home from work, it would be a confrontation. There would be furniture moving and bottles breaking from 5pm that day until 6:45 the next morning when I had to go to work. I would daydream during the day about the revolution that will take place again that day and everyday after that. I would not stop fighting for MY HOME until the day they cremate me or put me in the ground. With exception to the children, settler blood would run through my begonias and down my driveway at least three times an evening. I would still smuggle in some food (the settlers cut off my access to Kroger and Tom Thumb) but I would also be sneaking in a gaggle of armaments are well. "Oooh, look at her! She claims she is starving but she can get weapons!" the settlers and their wing man say. Well guess what... my weapons can make starvation a very temporary plight, whereas if I give in and don't fight back, I will be starving until I die. The choice for me and any human who owns land is a simple one.

No matter how you slice it, this it essentially what happened. There were people already in the area now known as Palestine and Israel. It is not the Palestinians that started demolishing homes and spreading into areas they originally said they would not. Europe should have given them (the now Israelis) some of their land instead of taking from people that were already living in that area. But no!! That would be too much like right. That would be too easy. Besides, they did not want them in their back yard.

The now Israelis could have tried talking to the people who already lived there before they came. They could have asked "do you mind if we cohabitate with you?" years ago and, if history is correct, they probably would not have had a problem being that Jews and Muslims have been living together in the middle east peacefully for ages. Sure, they have tiffs, but nothing on the scale of what we see now.

So riddle me this, if the Israelis want peace, why do they keep snatching up land when they agreed not to do so? Why are they demolishing homes of Palestinians? Why did they act as terrorists in the lavon affair? Operation Susannah??

Everyone says that we should sweep history under the rug, what's done is done. and Israel is here to stay...we should not dwell in the past and we now need to find a way to live together. I say no peace will be achieved until the Israelis admit what they did to start this crap, and the Palestinians acknowledge what they have done in retaliation. All things equal, I always side with the party that was wronged first. You cannot dictate the reaction of a person when you KNOW you have wronged them. The best thing you can do is sit down, shut up, and take it. After that you should do whatever is takes to right the situation even if it infringes on your comfort level.

You missed the part about how the land originally belonged to Israel and how the Romans stole it from them and renamed it Palestine. You also should add into the equation that the few Arabs that lived there for the next 1700 yrs or so let the land become a barren and desolate place. The once fertile land was overgrown with weeds. You also missed the points made in the post on page 22 by birchtree a few posts above your scenario.
Also look into how Jews and Pallies lived together quite peacefully in the old city of Jerusalem(a one mile square walled city)back in the 1800's.

I would very much like to see your analogy after you take into account more details.

You might also want to look at a map of Israel from 100 B.C. to see how much land was stolen from Israel. Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and I think even Egypt have parts of the stolen land that really belongs to the Israelites.

So basically you were living in a stolen rented house that was a real worthless run down dump and the original owner was given the land back through proper legal channels and you had lots of warning that this would happen. So these nice ingenious people that have the sense to wash themselves so they don't smell like camels rebuild with modern hospitals, schools, factories, irrigation, vineyards, olive gardens, crops, and basically take the land out of the dark ages and into the future. Then they offer to let you stay there and even take care of you and your family for life. Your life is 1000 percent better than it was before. You can have a higher paying job than any Arab nation ever offered you, and you can worship Allah all day long and they won't bother you. You would be in heaven don't you think? But the Pallies chose the greedy ungrateful path and the Arab nations started pushing Pallies over the borders and into Israel to make trouble. Well, I have to go. You cannot fairly use the excuse of 'poverty' and 'frustration' as a justifiable cause for strapping explosives on yourself and blowing yourself up in a civilian area for maximum effect.
Good grief, since (at the very least,) the Oslo accords in 1994, USA, Russia, Europe, UN has been channeling HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars in aid into the PLO/Palestinian self help fund. How much money was Israel given at the 1948 UN partition, or even the 1917 Balfour Declaration? No offense to the Palestinian (Arabs resident in Israel) people, but their leaders and overlords are using them as a political pawn for nefarious means. If they were serious about it, there has been enough money channeled in to create a political infrastructure (assuming the moderate wing political factions TRULY WANT an independant state living side by side with Israel in peace) but have opted for weapons and securing a paramilitary state. And all of this BEFORE Israel was forcibly removed (BY ITS OWN GOVERNMENT) from the Gaza Strip. From where I stand, Israel has made the 'binding Oslo Agreement Concessions that were charged upon here (removal from Gaza, much of West Bak, Hebron). PLO/Hamas have honoured NONE of their agreements. I DEFY, nay CHALLENGE anyone here to go through the Oslo/Madrid, Annapolis agreements (you name it) made between Israel, Palestinians, and find 3 things ( actually no, ONE THING) that the Palestinian government has abided by, completed/succeeded in doing/honoured/proven faithful in.

Mixing truth with lies gets you no where. First, tell us who a "non-believer" is. In the Quran it says that Christian and Jews are Muslim's "brethern in faith," and "people of the book," and the other "believers."

Surrah 9:11 - "But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge."

Second, the Quran prohibits suicide in any form. Even if it means in killing an enemy, suicide will automatically send the Muslim to hell.

Knowing all "this" it's easy to see why someone would base their decisions on misinformation. How about actually researching what you write before posting it and understand why this is all occuring?

Do you know why Hammas even exists? Does Israel allow Palestinians to have a military to defend themselves? Why has Israel continued to bulldoze Palestinian homes and build their own settlements in those areas? This has nothing to do with it though, right? It's all Islam's fault, right?
