MAP 2.1 2008/12/31 05:34:08 40.107 -77.003 1.0 3 km ( 2 mi) E of Dillsburg, PA

from usgs.

No fearmongering here. I think we've all seen fearmongering - there is usually not much to back that up. Here we have definite info that could very well lead up to something not good.

I can't explain myself without having people thinking that I'm crazy.

Besides I said feeling, I didn't say for sure that it was going to erupt. After all I could be wrong, but 99.9 percent of the time I'm right when I have a feeling about something.

Im sorry rocketgirl but we can not go off feelings. You didn't even give a time table. I could easily say I think it is going to explode and a thousand years later it does. Technically I would be right, see my problem ?

It's been like this for the last 20 minutes now, and I had been observing it minutes before that, where it was fine.

What's going on??

The sun went down?
if so, I wonder how it's been since that happened.

Its possible that the script that updates the website with the new information has locked up. Or the server that updates the website is down.

As for the web cam I wouldn't worry about it. I suspect it may be a screen saver type image. It is a star field and the thing is powered by stardot-tech.com. Notice the star in the name? Having seen the regular cam feed before that is not am image of the geyser in the dark. You don't get that much sky in the pic. Having seen the web cam in person it isn't likely pointed straight up in the air as it would be blocked by trees. The cam is mounted under a canopy of trees. If volcano related activity knocked the cam over and you saw the sky you likely wouldn't see stars.

You guys have to remember..

These sites weren't exactly intended for the amount of people that keep refreshing those pages.

Its like a Digg article that leads to a site going down in 15 minutes.

They are slowly updating.

I will say this though, this is round 2 of what started this weekend. It looks as though there is magma movement under the area as well, its definitely not wind.

for those confused about locations.....

www.yellowstonepark.com...

you can blow the pdf file up to 200% and easily find these locations.

Mary Lake is to the west and north of Yellowstone Lake, right above the N in "Yellowstone Park"

This is what wind looks like on a seismograph.

quake.usgs.gov...

There is obviously a wind signature but it looks nothing like the readings we are seeing. If wind in the area of 20mph were to distort readings as severely as the ones we are seeing today I'd expect the seismograph would have been moved a long time ago.

It isn't wind.

Honestly, nobody should be confused at this point (at least as far as all the information gathered).. unless they haven't bothered to read ALL the pages of this thread up to this point.

Everything has been posted about 4 different times now.

More wind noise.

www.seis.utah.edu...

It is more pronounced but still a far cry from what is showing on the Mary Lake seismograph.

Yes I do, and I also stated that I couldn't explain what I meant without sounding crazy. Therefore I didn't explain my reason for my earlier statement.

Besides, it's been over 640,000 years since the last eruption. It's getting time for another eruption to happen. However, I also said that I could be wrong because the next eruption might not happen anytime soon. Why? because an eruption at Yellowstone usually happens between every 640,000 to 800,000 years. ( I think that timeline is right).
