If you look back at the charts for Mary's Lake from the 26th to present, you can see a trend... if you download the charts and stackem on top of each other, it becomes more noticable.... what some people are taking for "harmonic tremors" appear to precede earthquake activity, which leads me to believe that they are indeed harmonic in nature. If the trend holds, there won't be any 2.5 or higher quakes until after Mary's Lake quites down, then there should be a period of increased earthquakes which will taper off, followed again by harmonics.

While 5 days is by no means any way to make a prediction, my money is on a 3.0 or higher when the harmonics at Mary's Lake taper off.

Is exactly what I have been noticing on the charts too. Seems very odd that with all the activity going on that they arent even letting people know if they are doing anything other than "looking" into it.

If you guys are right than that is not a good sign at all. Any increased earthquake activity can open a crevice and let loose good old faithful lol.

Anybody notice that mary lake stopped reporting? Yellowstone lake is still going but mary has stopped.

While I'm not convinced we are experiencing harmonic tremors I think the idea that this is caused by wind blowing through a tree is humorous. It would completely contaminate the data of the station and basically make it useless. Even if it were wind it wouldn't look like this.

So... is it just me or did YML stop reporting?

Yellowstone erupts about every 600,000 years. It has been atleast 640,000 since the last eruption. I'd say its overdue, by a few days. No one can say if it will erupt tomorrow or whenever....and no one can say that it won't. Yellowstone is its own master, and it will do as it pleases, and I won't argue with it.

Ditto!

MadDog...I'll vote for ya!

Back to topic. If it were wind, we would see this every time they get windstorms and surely Yellowstone has a history of wind gusts above 25 mph. I'm sticking with "it's not wind".

en.wikipedia.org...

Tremors and earthquakes dont immediately equate to yellowstone erupting, but if its going to,tough luck, not anything you can do about it and say bye bye to most of mankind or atleast the civilization we are accustomed to.Scientists have about a 5 minute warning before it does go boom, some people say even less..this is one thing we cant control.Like many scientists have said, they wouldnt be surprised if it erupted tomorrow and also wouldnt if it erupted in 5,000 years. Its a game of russian roulette where we are more than likely to lose. The sheer scale of the devistation this would cause if it erupted is just unimaginable...

Hi,
If it blows it will not matter to you.
It would plume ash into the jet steam and that in turn would deposit volcanic Ash/glass on the most populated places on Earth.
There would be no way to escape. The Earth spins very rapidly and there would be no sunrise the next morning. If there was a ray of sun you would view it through a haze of acid mist, choking dust, smoke from burning cities and cars and tears.....

I never trust Wikipedia. Not when everyone and their uncle can change everything on it to suite their knowledge. Thats a garbage site in my opinion.

if you would bother reading any of this pile of information you might find that there is a possiblity of a less deadly , and more likely, hydrothermal eruption. It would be close to 3x bigger, or more, that MSH. This is what all infromation is leaning to thats been released.

hot spot starts moving... runs into some underground water source and BOOM its all flashd to steam and we get a massive explosion.

I'm not disputing the event, only the source of the information.

I have a strong feeling that Yellowstone might be getting ready to erupt.
