I must say I have been watching this thread for the last four days and am starting to think there really isn't anything that unusual going on at least not to the point of an immanent disaster.Hence the lack of media coverage.I cetanly don't think there is a conspiracy going on to hide data.I think its just a case of us posters feeding an interesting story and blowing it out of proportion.Thats why no one else but us are taking this so seriouse.Just my opinion.

Well personally I think we can rule out actual background noise ( snowmobiles) and other such things because this is just too steady. Even wind would die down eventually.

-WSPfan you are right, NML is where the most activity is taking place and it is steady sometimes even getting stronger. I have no clue if this is a precursor to something but this has to indicate at least something going on.

humanaqurian- While I agree with your point that there is no imminent disaster I do believe this is just the start. The reason no major media coverage is probably because they are too preoccupied. They do not want to talk about what everyone was talking about in the early 2000s. They will only start to report it on major stations if it gets really really bad.

-Maddog Very good point.

Yes. US news media is more focused on Isreal, New Year's Eve parties and Blo-man in Chicago. Once something is ready to boom, they'll turn the cameras to it.

So far I have only found 1 thing similar at Yellowstone and it was at YML. On Arpil 15, 2004, during the 2004 swarm near Norris. Here is the link:

YML goes Pollock April 15, 2004

i have been following this thread for two days now. i think something is going to happen.. will it be the end.. i doubt it.

i called our local station in seattle, and the lady was quite rude! said " we are a seattle station, we report waht happens in seattle" so apparently, seattle people could care less.

but they might also be under a gag order which was spoke of earlier on previous pages...

i failed science class! but if someone has a fault line diagram that would be very helpful in me understanidng if these are connected possibley? not sure. but it sounded good

Fleece.

ps, an another note, my "safety words" you type in at the bottom,, is reads, "area51" weird!

Thats the whole point. Media services worldwide are talking about it on their respective websites, but choosing to not air the story on TV. I find that to be totally conspiratory. We'll wait and see. Volcano's are popping off in all corners of the globe tonight, and no news channel is covering them. Only the web.

Post in response to Lake Mary "Harmonics" readings

Mary Lake seismometer is burried next to a Ranger Cabin by a HUGE tree. When the wind blow's, the tree carries vibes to the ground that appear as "noise" on the Mary Lake station. Bob Smith (the one who installed it) confirmed this.

I couldn't find weather information for Lake Mary, but at the present time Yellowstone Lake
Wind:
From W at 12 mph
gusting to 21 mph

The subject of geological processes and earth changes is very interesting.

Rising magma in such an enormous caldera could indicate future activity.

Obviously the scientific community will be keeping a close eye on this.

Like it or not, it's just an unusually large swarm of earthquakes under a super-volcano.

Let us continue to discuss and monitor this anomaly without being accused of crying wolf.

Regarding some posts on here: It is possible that nothing is going on, but looking at the helicorder charts like LKWY... something sure looks like it is going on..

A lot of these sure look like harmonic tremors....

SUMMARY OF THREAD - PLEASE CORRECT ERRORS

Jeez took a break cuz my family is starting to pull out little white coats - and when I come back - Mary Lake is worse not better - I think I'd prefer to be nuts

OK - so I rescanned this entire thread and it would be great if geologists and seismologists could let us know if they were lurking or posting. Thanks to those who have spoken up and have been watching this stuff unofficially for years and have great archive access.

In summary (and feel free to correct if you think I'm wrong)

1) what we have is the quakes in Yellowstone Lake that have not gone over 4.0 ... are probably over 1000 by now - as when Utah site said 80 the seismologists were up to 250 in their count on the 27th and now Utah site shows over 250 ... and this morning showed some healthy 3.0+ers
www.quake.utah.edu...

2) what we also have (and maybe more worrying because these were so evident for Mt. St. Helen are these Harmonics at Mary Lake (not to be confused with Mary Bay Crater on Yellowstone Lake). These harmonics went wild on the 29th and brought on a Volcano Watch warning on RSOE but then subsided till a few hours ago today - when now they're back in force at this moment.
www.quake.utah.edu...
hisz.rsoe.hu...〈=eng

Since RSOE removed the volcano warning after 24 hours - the thing to watch for is if it puts that icon back up with these harmonics.
hisz.rsoe.hu...〈=eng

when watching RSOE or USGS it's possible to get blown away by how many quakes are happening all over all the time and the number of volcanos right now. But the general feeling is that according to the news coverage and FEMA alert this morning, Yellowstone is unusual. But we're hearing nothing from spokespersons today, so who knows. One early post on this thread suggested that seismologists were flown to Canada on Christmas Day for an emergency conference. And there has been the Russian Koryakski volcano that was dormant for 3000 years and just erupted on 12/28. Some seismic on the days before she blew would be great...

I'm wondering how many people here have just been reading or posting but actually haven't got anything ready in case it does blow. I'd be one of those and I will feel a right nit if this goes off after my being glued to it for 4 days.

I would say its a little unusual. A volcano in Russia, which was quiet for 6,000 years, goes off today. Another near southeast Asia, yesterday. Quakes lighting up charts and seismic alarms worldwide, all in the past few weeks. These are not everyday occurences my friend. Mother Earth is trying to tell us something, and we're all trying to decipher her messages.
