Well, the pyroclastic cloud will most likely be traveling over 700 miles per hour when it collapses, so that gives you about 10 mins to drive out of there as fast as possible...you might make it if you are sw of the epicenter and the wind is blowing hard to the east.

Tru, I live here in Central California and I know bout them as well.

I just noticed that when I scrolled over the EQ's on that RSOE map that they were 2.7, 2.9. That doesnt really mean much to me anyways. I don't think I've ever felt anything less than 4.0.

Thats all I was saying. No worries. Yet.

I've ever seen a depiction of it taken from the live seismographs on an actual USGS (or other, eg Utah Seismic department) web page.

I don't think you ever will see it because the resolution isn't good enough. The image is reduced so small you can't see the detail you need to identify harmonic from any other type of tremor. All you can see is size and duration. I love gloom and doom as much as the next guy but to say harmonic can be identified in those images is wishful thinking. Some could be harmonic but we cannot honestly tell from the data we are getting on the net.

Thanks Lern,

Yeah I noticed it too, couldnt find it, kinda have to extrapolate the coordinates manually. Bah at the bottom of the map image says "Not Reviewed By Human" lol.

That link there must be wrong, that is not Yellowstone Lake.

quake.utah.edu...

Also, there is no mention of it in the YVO status pages

February 2008 Yellowstone Activity Summary

Earthquake activity in the Yellowstone region is within background levels and GPS data show continued uplift in the current inflation cycle.

During the month of February 2008, 130 earthquakes were located in the Yellowstone region. The largest of these shocks was a magnitude 2.4 on February 3, 2008 at 1:38 PM MST, that was located about 5 miles southwest of Madison Junction, YNP. A swarm occurred February 3, 2008 that was located about 6 miles west northwest of Norris Junction, YNP. This sequence had 47 events ranging from magnitude -0.2 to 2.0.

At this stage of the game with all the time they (the experts) have had to pour over the data I think:

1. they are still clueless as to what is happening (very doubtful)

or

2. they have some ideas they aren't willing to share

If there was any good news you think they would have released a reassuring statement by this time. The more time that passes raises everyone's anxiety level. If they aren't harmonics they could tell us that at least. From this perspective no news is bad news.

Indy- Thanks for the insight. Either way though, HF quakes and harmonic tremors are both worrying. They are both signs of things that COULD not will happen for sure.

Yeah I was just noticing my coordinates, um disregard that post. My mistake, looks like that happened in Northern Utah, Nowhere near Yellowstone.
I think I was noticing the Promontory and the isthmus that comes into the lake and I mistakenly thought it was Yellowstone Lake. Good catch and thanks.

Hmm...from being YEARS of pa not having earthquakes... we are all the sudden starting to. 1 just a week ago, and another today.

Any connection with yellowstone? I mean, I know it's far and all. But there's always a chance.

Please don't hit me with a shoe or anything....

But I was looking for avalanche activity in the area. I recently read somewhere that there was more than usual... I think avalanche activity might be a useful search.

While I was searching I found this link about Washington's involvement in a decision there in regards to closing an area during the season.

It's an interesting read.
Hopefully not too off topic -

Meanwhile I will continue to look for relevant avalanche info.

Well, don't know if this link's been posted yet, but I finally saw a reference in the MSM. Scientific American even.

No need to worry yet. Nice touch. Kinda like "If you see an eruption, bend over and kiss your a** goodbye!"

What part of PA? I've heard of at least one a year or so in York and Lancaster counties... They even get tornados! The 3.3 last week I heard about- down near Philly, right? Didn't hear about any seismics today.

114.86 isn't even on that map,
Good find though 6.0 would certainly be enough to make something give.

I see where you were going with your reply, haha, sorry I told Apex too, thankyou for correcting me. Good call.

I have seen some very unusual areas in this country - being hit with quakes in the last couple of months. The whole planet is rockin' and rollin' - and we are all connected.

Since the earths crust is similar to a thin eggshell, I think it's safe to say that the probability of the two being connected is slightly higher than a fault in PA and one, say, on the moon.

Glad to see other PA people in here. I don't feel too geographically alienated now.

The "noise" at YML is still increasing. There is noise elsewhere, but this is the strongest. Almost nothing at Norris or Madison or Pitchstone, more at Mirror Lake and Yellowstone Lake. YML is starting to look just like the 29th though, not shrinking, but getting stronger.

There's been a deadly avalanche killing several snowmobilers in Fernie in Canada. Not sure how close that is, but geologically speaking it is. But we do have them each winter at this time. We've had an unusual amount of snow so far this season. along with extreme shifting temps.
