How can anyone seriously think that Israel is a friend of the United States?
They are more of a threat to us than any alleged terrorist group could ever be.
Numbers in conflict mean diddly squat.
That day could come sooner than later.
Israel has much too much to say about what happens in Congress, and I'm afraid that Obama is also in Israel's pocket.
Yeah. I remember those words from the hippies in the late 60's and early '70's. Give peace a chance.
The level of peace or conflict will always reach its own level, and will be constantly self-adjusting.
When you avoid a match, and postpone it time after time, then when the match does happen, the measures required to correct matters are multiples of the original costs.
Your mistake is in thinking you can choose your enemies. You can't.
Your other mistake is in thinking reciprocation is automatic. It isn't.
Your other mistake is in thinking you have control. You don't.
You run to your enemies.
You meet them head on.
You crush their will.
You break their hearts.
Then you win.
A SEEMINGLY offhand report on Israel Radio that the Cabinet would meet over the weekend to plan a military operation in the Gaza Strip was a feint, which set up Hamas for Israel's surprise strike.
The radio report, on Friday, was a final move in six months of planning and deception leading up to the strikes, The Australian reported.
A large group of Hamas security staff completing an officers' training course were outdoors at their base just before noon on Saturday, standing in formation at a graduation ceremony, when the planes struck, killing and wounding many of them.
Scores of targets across Gaza were hit simultaneously by the first Israeli wave, catching Hamas staff in facilities that were supposed to be have been evacuated before the fighting started.
Adding to the deception was a surprise announcement by Defence Minister Ehud Barak on Thursday that, despite the tension and war-edge atmosphere, trucks carrying humanitarian supplies would be permitted to enter the Strip. The supplies crossed into Gaza on Friday, encouraging the notion that a military strike was not imminent.
Finally, Israel's Southern Command was sent on leave on Friday and, further adding to the element of surprise, the operation was launched on the Jewish Sabbath.
"Hamas was watching and listening," said Haaretz newspaper, adding that the rulers of Gaza tracked the army's movements and took the bait.

and where do you believe that right comes from?
Do you believe everyone has a right to live wherever they want?
