Care to enlighten us?

You remind me of the "Zep Head" character from Almost Famous.

"M-m-m-r Robert Plant... touched this pen!"

This is the mother lode of Zeppelin satanic paranoia. Not an endorsement but if you want to see it analyzed to the nth degree, this is the book for you:

www.amazon.com...=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1229572442&sr=1-2

In my opinion Page was an occultist, not a devil worshiper. For fundamental Christians, there is no distinction.

Crowley was definitely into the dark arts though and and invoked demons as well as Lucifer. He has said as much in his writings. It follows that Page would choose the same path because in the long run there's still time to change the road you're on.

Interesting Pic from the film "Lucifer Rising":

I wonder if this means Aleister Crowley's daughter, AKA Barbara Bush, enjoyed Page's brilliant guitar playing?

Care to enlighten us?

All I can do is render personal first hand accounts. Parties in the Hollywood Hills, Satanic Rituals, strange abhorant behavior, occult signs, occult props, wild debauchry and revelery, sometimes very fearful and nervous people. You know, typical day in Hollywood for a Rock N' Roller.

Is there anything specific you would like to ask?

When you watch two grown men like Robert Plant and Jimmy Page on all fours belaboring how perfect the circle of a Pentagram is for acheiving maximum effect and power, that's kind of when my mind likes to stop asking questions.

When that room looks like a cyclone hit it 8 hours later, well that's when your glad you stopped questioning!

If I can answer any of yours though I would be happy too.

Wow. Are you saying you actually witnessed that? Seriously, feel free to offer any other thing like that you actually saw.

Yes, I actually witnessed that, I was asked to render an opinion on the quality of that particular circles roundness.

I knew kids who refered to Page as their High Priest to him, and considering Page kept his 15 year old girl friend under virtual house arrest inside the Hyatt until the day she turned 18, kids would be a pretty accurate description of some of them.

Lori wasn't unhappy with the arrangement though and some nights he would even take her out to the Rainbow with his entourage.

The orgies and drugs involved were impressive for the sheer volume of consumption alone. It really was a do what you will setting, with an elemented of jadedness that seemed to always lead to doing more.

My favorit was watching John Bonham argue with the manager of an Occult Shop on Santa Monica Boulevard over his refusal to sell him a particular item in stock in order to do a spell. The manager insisted he wouldn't enable him to do that particular spell with an ever angering Bonham offering more and more cash for the item just to hear no again and again and storming angrily out of the place.

Again, wow. That's some weird, wild stuff. So did you, yourself get involved in any of the shennanigans? The ritual shennanigans, I mean. You don't have to answer if you don't want, I'm just curious, considering they asked your opinion of the circle.

By the way, what was the item that JB was after? Do you remember?

No I sure didn't, in fact they advised me not too. They said my life would never be the same if I did, and well, I took them at their word there. The situations girls and drugs will get you into!

I tend to be a respectful skeptic, I want to not believe some things which means leaving enough room not to have no room left to deny them!

I have always felt the occult was silly, whether it's Wiccan, or White Magic, or Black Magic, or Moon Goddesses or how ever you want to formalize it, it's using props just to tap into your inherent power.

I have never wanted to come face to face with a demonic type entity to find out whether that's an arrogant supposition or not if you get what I mean.

My freinds and I would just do what we could to get a laugh amongst ourselves out of things and leave it at that.

Traveling Riverside Blues connection

The Traveling Riverside Blues ,Led Zep covered this song it was on the BBC album

This was written and originally recorded by Blues great Robert Johnson.

According to a legend known to modern Blues fans, Robert Johnson was a young black man living on a plantation in rural Mississippi. Branded with a burning desire to become a great blues musician, he was instructed to take his guitar to a crossroad near Dockery's plantation at midnight. There he was met by a large black man (the Devil) who took the guitar from Johnson and tuned it, giving him mastery of the guitar, and handed it back to him in return for his soul. In exchange Robert Johnson became able to play, sing, and create the greatest blues anyone had ever heard.

Jimmy page used the tunings of Robert Johnson on many a song ,

Lyrics to song at the end.........I said her front teeth are lined with gold
She's gotta mortgage on my body, got a lien on my soul

Maybe Page was in over his head at some point .

The chairs that Crowley used are owned by Horror Writer James herbert (the magic cottage, the rats) and reside in East Sussex not far from my home in Hastings. Crowley lived the later years of his life in Netherwood house, on the ridge in hastings and passed away there in 1947. I own a book inscribed by Crowley to the owner of the house "Jonny".
Crowley had a magical ring representing the magicians will, it is believed to have gone to America. Crowley was NOT a satanist, but a very knowledgeable ritual magician, his heritage lives on through the OTO (order templar orientis) a German based magical order that fuses Qbl/Gnosticism, their headquarters are also in Hastings but they have lodges worldwide.

Crowley owned some chairs he used in Ritual work, these are now owned by the horror writer James herbert and reside in erast sussex.Herbert once said in an Interview they were Haunted by Crowleys ghost, and moved by themselves. Crowley lived the remaining years of his life in Netherwood Lodge, on the Ridge in Hastings, passing away in 1947. I own a book hand inscribed by him to the owner of the house "Jonny". He had a magical ring a symbol of his magical will, this is believed to have gone to America. Crowley was involved with the O.T.O whose system of magic is based on a mix of Qbl/Gnostic belief, their headquarters are also in Hastings but they have lodges worldwide.
Hastings has a long history of Magic as the witch Alex Saunders also lived there (founder of alexandrian wicca).
Crowleys spirit is said to often be seen on a cliff top walk, and there is a local myth of black covens working from the old town as Hastings is situated on a Ley line.Crowley was NOT a satanist but a Skilled Kabbalist who borrowed heavily from Transcendental Magic by the French magus "levi" , who he believed he was the reincarnation of. Crowley believed the true magician did not need swords, and wands and that his true will could conquer all, he was an adept that crossed the Abbys of DAATH but fell in to a drug induced decline (funnily enough as did saunders). Hastings current resident celebrity witch is Kevin Carlyon, who although always in the news is a pretender to the art.
Crowleys book Magick in theory and practice is full of subtle jokes and hidden meaning for those that have eys to see, and should be read by everyone.

Which is why I'm thinking that 'devil worship' is subjective.
For some - devil worship means the actual one on one worship of the devil.
For others - it means anything that works with or furthers the 'dark' arts.

Crowley was definitely into the dark arts though and and invoked demons as well as Lucifer. He has said as much in his writings.

We have conflicting information on Crowley. We have quotes of him saying that he doesn't believe in the Devil. Then we have quotes on him saying he wants to be the Chief of Staff of the Devil. And we have you saying that he confessed in his writings to summoning demons. If you have a link or some information such as page and book number that would be helpful.

Like what? I have a feeling you didn't even read the thread but instead just posted a line ASSUMING that people were slamming Led Zepplin for being 'satanic'.

Now THAT could easily be taken as Satanic. Some would say 'occult'. Some would say 'dark arts'. But many would say that they were actually worshipping Satan - with or without knowing it - and Satans power was involved in what they were doing.

Things like this are why I think I've probably decided that the title 'devil worshipper' is subjective. Kind of like the term 'Christian' is subjective to Christians.

Edited to add - example of subjective christianity - Benny Hinn. Is he or isn't he Christian? Do we know for sure? Heck ... he may even be a devil worshipper with a Christian mask on.

How could he invoke something he did not believe in?
The statements about devil worshiping was little more than lines thrown in to startle people it is of course more convenient to take those statements at face value for those who want to call him a devil worshiper. But if you look at the larger picture of what the man did and said it's painfully obvious that his comments to the affirmation of being a satanist was nothing more than him f***ing with people.
Case in point I myself often played the whole Satanist line to mess with more than my fair share of prudish Christians that were just going to demonize me because I was a Pagan anyway.... +ah the hilarity of being asked if you were and I quote a "demon sorcerer".+
