I am just pointing out - do not jump on any conclusions - not Russia's not the Western media's.

We shall see if there is an invasion very shortly. Or if it is all just another farce - like the one yesterday.

The Russians are shouting Tbilisi shows their support for the Georgian people. They are simply cheering on the Tbilisi football team who have a match this week.

Also - maybe it is the Ukrainian forces invading. They have the same tanks. How can you tell it's Russians. Get Ukraine out of Georgia now.

GO TBILISI.

I think we can use this post as an example of the kind of propaganda the russians routinely put out. Also, it is now difficult to take any other posts by this member at face value. Might want to re-think this post ...

You might want to rethink what you just said , Maloy is a very respected poster and have contributed more than anyone in this thread .

BREAKING NEWS FROM RUSSIA:

Russian sources say that Saakashvilli and Western reporters are confusing evacuating Georgian troops with Russian troops. Georgian military is denouncing Saakashvilli's statements that Russian armor is moving towards Tbilisi according to Interfax. The Georgian tanks and armor is currently still on the road from Gori.

My Russian friend, I think you have served your nation well. But now your comrads ARE in Gori. And they seem to of taken over the nation in every way you described they wouldn't.

Unfortunitly your red is shining a little to brightly.

Your updates are no longer worth paying attention too.

Edit:

And now I see RussianBoy coming to the defence of Maloy..

In the last few days I have seen more than a few russians defend Russia on this site...

But I have not seen one georgian. Kinda begins to make me suspect the Russians here are less than impartial. I mean we can get all kinds of russian views about this conflict but no Georgians? That is odd. Admittedly I have had to sleep so I have missed some pages so if we got a georgian on this board giving us daily updates as to the georgians side of the story than please let me know.

I have to admit it is kind of fun to observe this thread about a conflict zone, happening thousands of miles from most people who write here and belive the news stories about the Russia/Georgia situation. First thing in every war/conflict is, that the truth is the first casualty. Which means we can not belive anybody here. Not one source. Not Russian one. Not Georgian one. And certainly not the western corporate mainstream media. Second thing you all need to know is - YOU ARE NOT THERE! And since you are not there, you can not possibly know what is going on. It could be true what the Russians say (but I highly doubt it) - or it could be true what the Georgians says (but I highly doubt it too). So who is right? Who is wrong? Who is left? Who is the attacker? Who is defending? Who killed 2000 civilians? Whos tanks are these? Are they really tanks? Where are they driving? Do you know for a fact, this is the road to Tbilisi? See? You do not know ANYTHING. Therefore it is kind of meaningless to debate this, since everybody is right and wrong at the same time. Tricky these modern wars are...

Why would the Russians lie so much?? This could only mean that they are going in for Tbilisi! Remember how all national start a war by first stating that they won't. Surprise factor!

Right, the retreating Georgian troops speak Russian and claim to have come from Chechnia?

Who ever gave that statement either has had too many wodka's or is completly bonkers.

The BBC has just reported that Ukraine has placed new restrictions on Russia's Black Sea fleet. They previously threatened to bar the way for the fleet to return to port.

We shall see. The Western media has A.D.D. Americans are so anxious they are sitting on needles. Meanwhile Georgian military now denounces Saakashvilli's statements.

Have a bit of patience will you. I am not saying there is no invasion - I am saying no one can tell if there is an invasion. Just a load of pictures and footage of Soviet-era armor, which both sides have a ton of.

Eh?

Chance, who was riding in the convoy, said there was no resistance from Georgian soldiers, and it was possible that the Russians were on a scouting mission to choose a buffer zone between the breakaway region of South Ossetia and Georgian territory. Chance described the flag-waving Russians as relaxed.

He said most soldiers refused to comment, but one told him: "We have come here with the approval of the Georgian people."

So the Georgians are pretending to be Russians then? What is this - the most elaborate practical joke of all-time?

I agree, the information provided by Maloy has been the backbone of this entire thread, and it has been clearly presented in a straight forward manner. Not only that, it is also quite clear when Maloy is relaying information, making speculations based on that information and/or replying to OP's contributions. In my opinion ATS is lucky to have posters of the calibre of Maloy, it is what sets this forum far above the other similar offerinngs on the internet.

My 2 Cents.

I doubt it, as they entered Gori from the North. The North is occupied by Russia and both Russian sources and Georgian sources have stated last night that there were no Georgian troops north of Gori anymore.

Yes, that's just been reported via the AFP as well.

Further details, according to CNN's Matthew Chance, on the Russian convoy inside Georgian territory:

The troops, which had been on Georgia's main east-west highway between Gori and Tbilisi, "never had plans" to travel to the capital, the spokesman said.

The Russians' final destination and objective were unclear, CNN Correspondent Matthew Chance reported.

Chance, who was riding in the convoy, said there was no resistance from Georgian soldiers, and it was possible that the Russians were on a scouting mission to choose a buffer zone between the breakaway region of South Ossetia and Georgian territory. Chance described the flag-waving Russians as relaxed.

www.cnn.com...

Ultimately, regardless of the reasons, both Russia and Georgia agreed in principle to a plan that included their forces returning to the positions they occupied before the start of hostilities. Granted, we do not know if Georgia did anything to violate that agreement and prompt this activity on Russia's part, but this is still a violation of the agreement and could have very serious international (though almost certainly not military in my opinion) consequences.
