No CNN and SKY news are breaking under pressure with their heart-wrenching drama.

There is no invasion. Calm down people. There isn't even any fighting. Just several tanks driving around here and there. We don't know why yet - but you will not see Tbilisi fall to 10 Russian tanks.

Plus none of the pictures posted show any tanks. They show some BMPs and trucks. To a reporter anything with treads is a tank.

The Russians are shouting Tbilisi shows their support for the Georgian people. They are simply cheering on the Tbilisi football team who have a match this week.

Also - maybe it is the Ukrainian forces invading. They have the same tanks. How can you tell it's Russians. Get Ukraine out of Georgia now.

GO TBILISI.

I think we can use this post as an example of the kind of propaganda the russians routinely put out. Also, it is now difficult to take any other posts by this member at face value. Might want to re-think this post ...

AFP reports that 60 tanks and other military vehicles are heading towards Tblisi. Soldiers are waving Russian flags and chanting "Tblisi!, Tblisi!".

The column was seen 10 km south of Gori. The distance between Gori and Tblisi is ca. 70 km.

Analysts say that Russia only used the cease fire, and Georgian units conditionally moving toward their homebases, to start the push towards Tblisi, the Georgian Capital. Putin's aim is to overthrow the democratic government.

I acknowledged that possibility in my post. However, I'm trying to remain objective, refrain from jumping to conclusions, and stay optimistic. Optimism prevents me from believing, at this time at least, that Russia intends to take the capital. I of course accept the possibility, though. It's my worst fear at this point to be honest.

Meanwhile, President Bush will make a statement later today.

WASHINGTON, Aug 13 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush spoke with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and will make a statement later on Wednesday, the White House said.

"The president wants to make a statement," White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said. There were no immediate details of what time Bush will make the statement or of his conversation with Saakashvili.

Georgia and Russia were engaged in heavy fighting during the past week over the breakaway region of South Ossetia.

Like i said their not the main invasion force for the capital, but more likely a a reckon force to set up a control zone around the place.Until the main force arrives
come on main think military secure the place first

Remember we had first heard something like 15-16 tanks ONLY. Now its gone upto confirmed 60-70. And also keep in mind the reporters say there are a HUGE number of tanks and can count upto 60-70 but there more which were not counted. You can't really count all the tanks in a city can you? I beleive there are no less than 100 tanks there.

Maybe this is why there was such a small contingent that entered Georgian. They were there to collect their payment for making it appear there was a war. This is a sure way to give away weaponry for Russia's part in helping stage this show.

The price.. a few civilians, soldiers and structure damage.

If one was retreating. Would it not be better and safer to destroy the weapons so they don't fall into enemy hands.

Those in power do not care or even give one ioda about any citizens.. only if they threaten their livelihood.

Since no one opposed Russia's actions.. then why should anyone care to oppose the US's when they attack Iran.

My conclusion is Georgian, Russia and the US were in on this.

Why would the Georgian government itself tell the CNN reporter traveling with the Russian convoy that the Russian forces would be turning off the main road to Tbilisi, and traveling to an abandoned base, rather than proceeding to Tbilisi? If there is that kind of communication between Russian and Georgian officials, I find it difficult to believe that they plan on taking the capital.

I don't think there was any communication, Ace.

Chance said CNN had been told by Georgian officials that the convoy was mostly likely heading for an abandoned Georgian military base at Uplistsikhe, six miles (10 km) east of Gori.

I think it was just assumed that's what they were headed for.

I also saw on Sky News (via the AFP) that: "several current leaders of ex-communist states have 'slammed' Sarkozy's peace agreement - because it failed to protect Georgian Sovereignty.' That was about 5 minutes ago.

He's claimed they're Georgian tanks, Ukrainian tanks (I'm still trying to figure out why Russia would allow Ukrainian tanks to cross its territory to get to Georgia) , and now admits that it may be 10 Russian tanks. Spinnin' it awfully hard, it seems.

He's right. 10 Russian tanks won't take Tblisi. But if there's even one Russian tank in Georgian territory, it is a violation of the cease-fire agreement by the Russian military.

If my memory serves me correctly, the cease fire agreement also specified that all parties involved should retreat to their August 6th positions. Clearly someone broke that agreement today by advancing into Gori, wether with tanks or apc's.

And we're supposed to believe the Russian media and government ahead of multiple media outlets from numerous countries reporting otherwise? I don't think so.
