and yes....they are fake. but, old.

so what is the deal are they in Gori, are they on the way to the capitol, anyone know, its hard to get anywhere within the links that has appearance of truth, what is your view MALOY and RENTOR, two people that seem to be in real touch with this...

If you read back, then yes, they are in Gori. I just posted a link to a belgian website with video footage taken an hour ago in Gori.

there has been so much disinformation and outright lying in this conflict on the part of georgia and the western media. honestly i cant believe either of them. they might just outright lie and say the russians have broken the ceasefire to try and get moral highground and get international backup. luckily we have places like ATS that chew up lies for breakfast.

My guess after completely destroying a city(and villages up to that point) that they are now headed towards a military base next to Gori,group there for awhile and then continue the onslaught

EU is ready to send peacekeepers to supervise the cease-fire agreement between Russia and Georgia:

BRUSSELS, Aug 13 (Reuters) - European Union foreign ministers expressed broad support on Wednesday for sending EU peacekeepers to supervise a French-brokered ceasefire between Russia and Georgia in the breakaway Georgian region of South Ossetia.

"The EU is ready to engage, including on the ground, to support the efforts of the United Nations and the OSCE," Irish Development Minister Peter Power said after an emergency EU meeting in Brussels.

I'm not certain as to whether this was released before or after the recent news of the Gori conflagration.

CNN had a reporter on the phone that said Georgian officials are aware of the destination of Russian forces, an abandoned military base near the capital, and they want to destroy it.

It would be quite logical to set up a buffer zone and make sure that Saakashvili doesn't have any multi-rocket launch systems and artillery batteries remaining in the area. Tskhinvali is well within range of Gori-based weaponry. Saakashvili's 8 August attacks were possibly launched from there in the first place.

Why would the Georgians abandon a military base in a situation like this?

I watched the interview last night with Charlie Rose and the ambassador from Russia, what I seen was an ambassador that rolled a point out, they went into the area and secured it because there peacekeepers were being killed, and Charlie Rose brought up a lot of the other ideas that have been floating around like asking the ambassador if this was just a way for Russia to keep us from out of there neighborhood by keeping Georgia out of Nato, and also if it was a message to us that they were going to do whatever they want and don't worry about what the USA feels about it, The ambassador said that do the loss of life that took place in S>O that was dominant in their decision making process of going into Georgia, second that he said basically "we don't care what the USA feels about this"

This suggests that Georgia somehow knows that Russian forces aren't heading for Tbilisi. This is quite confusing.

There is no indication that it was recently abandoned.

It could be left over from the Soviet days.

It's possible that it'll be a staging area.

My thought is to defend the "king" like in LOTR 2 they all got push back to behind the doors and then they ride out on horses(of course that wont happen,Russia setting a buffer zone move up missals and bomb the crap out of them)

Sofar we have numorous reports from various newschannels saying that Russian troops have entered Gori. I even posted a video of it.
