Could aswell be SO militia for all we know, or even that Chechzen brigade. We're all guessing at the moment.

The chechnian brigade also known as the Vostok brigade is a official Russian army brigade.

07:10 GMT - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking at a press briefing in Moscow, says "traitorous" Georgian troops will no longer serve as peacekeepers in South Ossetia, and that Georgia should pay for the destruction of Tskhinvali.

Hum.. Questions questions..

Could this possibly be all a elabrit scam?

I mean.. Bush talks Putin into attacking georgia and while everyone has their eyes focused on the olimpics and this little war.. Bush has the fleet moving in getting ready for the real war.. IE attacks on Iran.

Maybe for putins cooperation, Bush offered putin Georgia as a sacrificial goat. Saying something like.. Hey yea we will make a lot of noise but go ahead and do what you want just leave us alone while we take on Iran.

Then to set it all up he tells the Leader of Georgia that the USA will fully support him militarily. So setting the trap for Georgia......

So now Isreal and the US are in position to blast Iran without being interfered with. All at the cost of the USA giving up Georgia to putin.

Lol now that is a conspiracy theory . It is plausible.. Unlikely but.. It could explain things..

As has been the case throughout reporting on this conflict, there is a great deal of mixed messages and confusion. We should try our best to refrain from making assumptions or jumping to conclusions. At the moment, all we know is that a force which appears to be Russian (but as others have pointed out, could be S. Ossetian) has entered the city of Gori, and some journalists' equipment has been stolen by soldiers of this force.

We must remain open minded, calm, and alert in order to determine what the facts actually are.

Here is a further quote from the Sky News source

"(The tanks) just rolled past us with their guns at the ready, definitely looking like they were ready to engage," he said.

"It's the same scenes as we were seeing at the beginning of the conflict. As far as the people here are concerned, the politicians may be talking about peace but there's really no sign of it here."

I don't think you are fully aware of the players and their backers in this conflict.

You theory is flawed. Highly flawed. But as more information becomes available the truth will become self evident to all.

America and Israel started this.

Russians are the good guys this time around.

Why was the material "stolen" and not "confiscated"?

What is the difference?

Here's a live Sky News report - I SWEAR this is happening.

Just this very second, a Sky reporter is talking to the studio via phone: he says that he is standing ALONGSIDE the Russian army in GORI - they have surrounded the town and completely overtaken the area. The Russian army - the ACTUAL Russian army - has said they are 'coming for Mikheil Saakashvili.'

Incredible.

errr, what has Hitler got to do with this? We don't know who started the conflict. So calling names etc is so far uncalled for. Please stick to providing news and not biased comments.

why is this not on the sky news website? I just read on the breaking sky news that the journalists that were robbed, were in fact robbed by men who seemed to be South Ossetian. . .not the russian army...

why are we getting such conflicting reports? why has reuters and the bbc reported nothing on it?

Yes.

I mean, can you believe this?

He also said that the Russians are using the tactic of sending in militia to terrorize areas before the 'official' forces come in.

It is my sincere hope that this was merely some attempt at hyperbole or intimidation. I say this because, in addition to the diaster that a full scale invasion to overthrow the Georgian president would pose in terms of loss of life, it would also take far more than 50 pieces of armor to take Tbilisi. Russia would have to either already have, or subsequently deploy, a far larger force than they have been reported as fielding in the conflict thus far. That would surely bring about enormous international condemnation and outcry, increasing tensions even further between Russia and the west.

I pray that this situation deescalates soon.
