Seems Russia Openly points the finger at NATO and U.S for start of this

Looks to me that Russia wants a regime change in Georgia afterall, something that they sofar have denied. I wonder how the US will react to that....

Mabye Russian Satalights are seeing that the US is about ready to open a can of you know what on the region, so they are trying to play nice now....

I suspect the action has temporarily ceased because mediation efforts are about to begin with Sarkozy - and they don't really want to be seen fighting during that.

The caveat is this: Georgia must be COMPLETELY removed from all of the disputed regions. Otherwise? Well, I expect if there's no progress, Russia will just say that it has no choice but to resume action to complete its 'objectives' and reach its 'logical conclusion.' They absolutely aren't going to do business with Saakashvili.

Remember him? He's the guy who, about an hour ago, said that Georgia will never surrender to Russia.

I guess the Transnistrians (and other friends of theirs) and the Abkhazians will continue fighting on the "2nd front". We'll see...

operation 'clean field ' we might be hearing some more about that in the days to come.

Looks like Russia took out the pipeline....must of been the last objective for now.

TBILISI, Georgia (AFP)--The Russian airforce attacked a key oil pipeline running through Georgia on Tuesday but there was no word yet on whether it had been damaged, the secretary of Georgia's National Security Council told AFP.

"Russians bombed the BTC pipeline south of the city of Rustavi," said Alexander Lomaia. "We don't know yet whether it was damaged. It's a second attempt to bomb this pipeline since Aug. 10."

Russian TV reporter resigns after station cancels his Georgian broadcasts

Russians appear to be getting only one side of the story of the conflict in Georgia. According to a Moscow Times article, Russian television is showing the misery left by the Georgian assault in South Ossetia, but few, if any, reports mention Russia's bombing of Georgia.

After William Dunbar, a correspondent for the English-language state channel Russia Today, mentioned the bombing in a report on Saturday, his scheduled reports later that day were cancelled by the station. He said: "I felt that I had no choice but to resign."

The BTC pipeline is already closed "for weeks" after a mysterious fire in Turkey, Aug 5, some 48 hours before Georgia started shelling Tskhinvali. BP says it has launched an investigation on the incident in Turkey, despite claims from the PKK that they "did it".

After the aftermath.. the world really will find out about Tskhinvali now . Let them send in inspectors and the red cross . See what the media spin can do to about that . See what lies Saakashvili can conjure up to conceal the undeniable .

Georgia to brief NATO on fighting with Russia

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - Georgia is going to brief NATO on Russia's widening military campaign on Georgian territory.
NATO spokeswoman Carmen Romero says Salome Samadashvili, Georgia's envoy to the EU and Belgium, is to address a special session of the NATO ambassadors later Tuesday at the alliance's headquarters in Brussels.
But a high-level meeting between NATO and Russia _ which Moscow requested _ has been delayed, for now, Romero told The Associated Press.

«The meeting (with Russia) will not take place today,» she says. «We need further consultations on when» the meeting can happen.
Georgia wants to join the NATO military alliance, a move that has deeply angered Russia.

The update from SKY and the BBC is that the Georgian PM basically doesn't believe the Russians have halted military operations.

- Georgian President says they require a 'binding peace deal' at least - until then, 'we are ready for anything.'

The Georgians have been bad enough, but I don't believe anything that Russia says.

BTC pipeline is already offline and will be for an additiobnal 10-15 days, since the PKK was rumored to sabotage part of it in Refahiye, Turkey.

the georgians have so far had 2 cease fires - which apparantly means only the PM ceases fire - as the the georgian military carries on fighting...

fire in eastern Turkey on the Baku-Tblisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline halted loadings of Azeri Light crude shipped to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.

The blaze was extinguished on Monday and repairs may take one to two weeks or longer, a source at the pipeline consortium said

Georgia asks NATO about aid, alliance is assembled to the special-session

Moscow. On August 12. INTERFAX.RU - NATO will conduct on Tuesday the special-session, on which it will examine the request of Georgia about the assignment to military aid.


“MID of Georgia expresses its respect for the accredited in Georgia friendly countries and international organizations and before face of the threat of the complete occupation of the country it requests about the urgent military aid in the opposition of the straight and not hidden aggression of Russia”, is said in the note, directed on Monday states NATO.


The secretary of MID Lithuania [Zhigimantas] Of [pavilenis] reported BY BNS that, “since simultaneously the same note of Georgia obtained all NATO alliance countries and the headquarters of NATO, this request will be examined at the special session, called for Georgia”.


“Lithuania and largest countries of alliance will raise a question about the joint answer to this demand of Georgia, since we are the part of NATO, and security concerns are solved together. Lithuania will ask to positively consider this request of Georgia; however, what will be general result - let us see after session”, said [Pavilenis].

Please people, read comments and check out vids on Youtube from russians and ossetians on Youtube; I dont have the links ready, but it seems this is the CIA again, there have been lots of people saying they have seen american soldiers in black uniforms there, this might be the way they want to start invading the whole area for 'peace making again; this is not what it seems.
And be quick, coz Youtube is already blocking the videos at a breakneck rate.!

BP or Gazprom declare ceasefires...all others are puppets venting gas.

MOSCOW (AFP)--Russia's armed forces have received an order to stop their advance in Georgia, a senior Russian army commander confirmed Tuesday.

"On August 12 the units supporting peacekeeping forces returned to a defensive mission and in some places in Georgia continue to withdraw their troops," deputy head of the general staff Anatoly Nogovitsyn said in a televised press conference.
