anyone seen this thread on ats?

Reports in the Kremlin today are stating that Prime Minister Putin has ordered the Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation to put the Volga-Urals Military District and Black Sea Fleet on ‘full war alert’ to prepare for the defense of the Iranian Nation against what is being termed as an ‘imminent attack’ being planned by the Western Powers.

Also also ordered was the destruction of all oil pipelines going through Georgia to the West.

These are serious accusations.. please provide a link to your source!

Yep, and it's nonsense. That original article came from a well-known hoaxer looking for publicity based around the conflict.

That's an article by the illustrious Sorcha Faal, a name associated with numerous dubious, and usually false, stories over the years.

But thanks for providing the link so we'd know what's what!

Senaki is Georga proper by the looks of it. It's little northeast of Poti, the bombed harbour.

That thread is challenging the source... Seems the source is speculating on what might happen if things escalate.

So nothing happening other then Russians moving in 40 km into Georgian.

edit to put that 40 back in there.. my spell checker mysteriously removed the number! I'm being hacked!

Georgia resumes shelling of S. Ossetia

“As of 3.30 p.m. (1130 GMT), Georgian forces renewed intense shelling of towns in South Ossetia, using various forms of weaponry, including heavy weapons,” Interfax quoted a spokeswoman for the region's authorities, Irina Gagloyeva, as saying on Monday.

Mmm. So much for that ceasefire talk, eh?

There's a lot of stuff floating around the traps, but either way, this definitely isn't going to end anytime soon.

SKY NEWS - GEORGIAN INTERIOR MINISTER - Russia advances 40km into town of Senaki from Abkhazia.

I would really like to know why there isn't any independent news on the ground in Georgia. Everything we hear about the conflict is coming either from Russia itself, or from the Georgian Interior Ministry Spokesman. Yesterday that spokesman said Russia had intruded into Georgia near Gori, but that turned out to not be the case by all accounts (including the Georgian Interior Ministry Spokesman, who later changed the story to say that they were merely being shelled and air struck.) Now they're saying Russia has intruded into Georgian territory from Abkhazia. Why aren't there more sources for this news?

How are we supposed to get to the truth of what's happening on the ground?

Russia are seeking to meet with NATO ASAP? That's interesting and I'm sure we're all wondering what they want to say in such a meeting.

Thumbs up to everyone on this thread, by the way.

I'll be honest - I have absolutely no idea what's going to happen next.

Yup...

www.alertnet.org...

I can't imagine what's going to be thrown around at that meeting. It might show Russia are genuine, or they might be looking to gauge NATO's response.
