There's several conflicting reports, but Sky News has just said that Saakashvili had to flee a press conference due to Russian bombing over the palace in Tbilisi.

Amazingly enough, none of the big reports from Sky have been wrong. We are seeing things unfold with the precursors to these events having been reported hours ago.

Maloy should be on soon, i'm wondering how he is going to spin the Russian advances to this point as a continued peace-keeping mission.

09:31 Saakashvili signs ceasefire document

That´s all i could find

Thanks for the link.

When reporting Big news relevant to this BIG STORY Links should darn sure be included and the better ATS members (such as yourself) are providing links for the big story breaks in the BIG breaking story.

Still...

The cease fire agreements seem to be bogus military posturing compared to the breaking reality of the situation. They say one thing and bomb another.

Can i ask? there was talk yesterday about setting up 2 threads when this thread was taken over with views, bickering and other stuff not appropriate to this being a thread to ONLY post incoming information...I respectfully request that anyone not able to stick to fact that can be analysed, confirmed or debunked coming from the media agencies take their posts to the other thread if it has already been started, or start a new one. This thread is purely for posting information coming from the caucuses, not theory, not ideas and not middle east presumptions.

The US armada is not relivant to the aims of this thread at this moment in time.

Thanks everyone

Unlike what I stated it being 1 hours drive I don't think they can make it in 1 or even 3 hours. Any road to any capital WILL be heavily defended and every inch will be fought very heavily. Its going to take longer I beleive.

Ukraine is holding Military Parade.Man what a could time to hold one?

Any link for that?

And a lot of people think this is a move to evaluate the war capabilities of Russia... by NATO of course. The fact is that the whole thing had the ``let's go`` order of NATO, just like Saddam had the go ahead from the US to invade Kuweit.

And Bush have no credibility to say anything to Russia. Putin should say to him to go screw with Cheney.

Make no mistake, Hitler was a great military strategist, he was just evil.

WHAT ???? He was just lucky at the beginning with the Bliztkrieg. Then in Russia... not so much... but it wasn't just Hitler's fault it was also his generals who were cowards towards him, but we have to agree on the point that he was evil. He was a great speaker, a great political strategist too, but military? Of course it's easier to see the flaws of his strategy after the fact... like helping the italians in africa which retarded the invasion of russia by several months... and the capture of enigma, I mean if the enemy always know that you're gonna be there... change your communications encryptage...Also Japan should have blocked the US supply line to Russia.

jetxnet You probably think that Iraq had WMDs?

And we're not ``pro-Russia`` we're just against GENOCIDE which the georgian army were trying to carry out against the South Ossetians. I was against the genocide of Chechens too. Russia leadership is as bad as the US or Iran.

And why is Russia using it's old stuff? T-72s? Are you kidding?

Georgian President: Russia wants to topple Georgia and its administration.

Of course. You're scum. You're getting your own people killed! 2000 deads civilians in a matter of hours? That's trying to kill them on purpose, it's not an accident.

Also, three weeks ago, Russia tried to land Nuclear bombers in Cuba, but a US commander said that cannot happen.

You're so full of bull. So Hannity told you so? Russia just said that if NATO would install military hardware near their borders, they would do the same. NATO started it.

I believe Russia aims to topple the pro-Western Georgian government which was about to join NATO.

Sorry, Georgia started the whole thing and Russia offered peace many times. But now that Georgia started it, yes I think they're gonna go for it if they have the occasion.

Guys, if this is true, Russia is definitely invading Georgia:

Well duh. Georgia didn't stop bombing South Ossetia. So they have to pay for it. And if you get shelled and your soldiers are being killed, you have to respond.

I hope the Russians either capture that son of a biatch or kill him rapidly so the fighting can end.

It will likely take longer, but reports indicate most of Gori is now destroyed and Russian troops and armor are moving to secure the now desolate city. They will likely regroup there and go over strategy before continuing.

Meanwhile, the Georgian forces will be en-trenching to defend what they've got left.

NATO? Who knows ..

The Russians have said that they are not going to advance any further.

It's all a bit confusing at the moment.

With regards to whether the US should get involved. (I think they have now?) I can really see this being another Iraq should this war not finish any time soon.

As soon as we start receiving personal information on the death of US soldiers the general opinion will change.

The current conflict between Russia and Georgia has been going on since the 90's. Georgia remains accused of starting the war by throwing the first bombs. Russia accused of years of provoking Georgia. The leaders appear to be trapped in the playground.

'He started it!'
'No he did'.
'We called for a cease fire'
'Not seen anything myself so we'll carry on'
'U.S, don't just stand there'

The civilians are getting caught up in their silly games. I don't think it's a case of what should the U.S. do to help. Rather, Who would be the worst enemy to have as neither side appears innocent.

Russia is going to say what it does to buy time in regrouping and then do the contrary. They have been doing this most of the time.

If follows the current sequence, we'll hear the Russian convoy entered Gori and are re-grouping there claiming to wait on peace agreements.

Of course, they will likely say Georgia did not agree so they can continue the invasion.

Time will tell.

The Sky reporter just did a link from central Gori - he said the city remains practically untouched, and there's going to be some kind of communication there between Russian and Georgian representatives. Don't know if any of this has been confirmed or not.
