They have said nearly nothing about this world changing event and so for all of you (That have been providing linked news story updates) I thank you for keeping me up to date where my broadcast news has completely and totaly failed me and my fellow US subjects.

Amen to that .. very dissappointed in US coverage.

This thread has to be record setter already? 101 pages? Great info here, am sure alot of anonymous viewers are gleaning the updates as well.

It is 100% disturbing that the American media has placed what is almost a 95% blackout on this affair aside from...blanket statements and 3rd page limited coverage with few details...

Im going to go out on a limb, and say that this is probaly one of the most informative threads on the NET, about this topic...

Every Fourm is talking about this, NONE with the class, and style of ATS though...

ON the US media, and thier virtual blackout of this situation... Who knows... I dont have cable... When i was just a child, i figured out that the News Media were worthless, i thank my day for that...

The Shmucky Liers Bastard child IS the bigger story to the US...

Most of the US still has no idea this is going on, or at least the REAL situation of it...

Wow, I know it was 17 aircraft much earlier today.

That would mean 63 more over the course of the last 12 hours. Most of the air raids have been conducted recently, but that would be hard to substantiate.

Well put, I wouldn't know a quarter of what I know about this if it weren't for this ATS thread!

Russia denies bombing the BTC pipeline:

www.alertnet.org...

And the front page of CNN international is saying that there's some sort of ceasefire signed:

edition.cnn.com...

"We are trying to stop this as soon as possible," Saakashvili said during a conference call with Western journalists Monday.

Saakashvili abruptly ended the call after 20 minutes, saying that Russian warplanes were flying over the presidential palace.

About 15 minutes later, an operator said "Russian planes were bombing near the president's location" and that the call would be rescheduled.

I made a mistake earlier on, Jet - the Sky News reporter is in the centre of Gori right now: the damage is extensive. Amazing live pictures.

Apologies for the mistake - it was all very confusing.

UPDATE: The fighting is ongoing.

I was shocked when you said that Gori was untouched.

Anyways Skynews report regarding Abkhazia-

Russia is warning that its troops will cross into the Georgian-controlled territory if Georgian troops in the area refused to disarm.

Thanks Chips, that's congruent with the earlier assessments and makes sense then.

Wow, that is almost comical (but not), something you'd see in the Sunday comics - talking about a signed peace agreement but has to evacuate from a conference call because of incoming warplanes.

Yeah, it appears Russia is staging the next act of the show.

If it follows suit, they will state that Georgia did not agree to lay down arms, so they are going into Georgia proper.

I expect to hear that within the next 12-24hrs.

More from the Sky News ticker

- French and Finnish foreign ministers due in Moscow after emergency talks in Tblisi.

- Russian agency says Putin criticizes the U.S for moving Georgian troops home.

Here

Meanwhile, Georgia rejected an ultimatum issued by a Russian general in Abkhazia, the other breakaway province, to Georgian forces nearby to disarm or face Russian troops moving into Georgian-controlled territory.

It marks a major escalation in the Russian-Georgian conflict. With most Georgian forces concentrated near South Ossetia, it could be hard for Georgia to repel the Abkhazian offensive.

Here

Abkhazia has opened a new front in the Caucasus conflict by launching attacks on Georgian forces in support of neighboring South Ossetia.

Here

Russian peacekeeping forces say Georgia is continuing to attack South Ossetia's capital Tskhinvali, despite claiming to have pulled back.

While at the same time, over 40 ships are near Iran and due to arrive.... THIS week.

Will we survive the week?

I support your point of view.

When viewing this conflict in wider perspective we know that Russia wants to take out Saakasvilli and insert a Russian puppet, and also wants control of oil supplies. Its a win win for Russia to take Georgia.
