The Sky reporter just did a link from central Gori - he said the city remains practically untouched, and there's going to be some kind of communication there between Russian and Georgian representatives. Don't know if any of this has been confirmed or not.

For the time being then, looks ok, but do not know how far those tanks are from Gori.

It's all up in the air, I think. Who knows?

Medvedev says 'major part' of S.Ossetia operation over

MOSCOW (AFP) - A "major part" of Russian operations in South Ossetia has been completed, Russian news agencies quoted President Dmitry Medvedev as saying Monday.

"A major part of operations to force the Georgian side, the Georgian authorities, into peace in South Ossetia has been completed," the reports quoted Medvedev as saying at a meeting with Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov.

What after all this?? After all these news of Gori flattened by bombing...we are now hearing this??

Have to say it... 185.21 miles from the border of Georgia to the Border of Iran... Myself and others have been noticing widespread movements of US troops today stateside and... Cheeny is making statements and frankly it's all one war

If this is somehow irrelevant to the situation when Turkey as a Nato member is in a position the Ukraine is in a position and georgia was almost a member of Nato and Isreal is also involved and the US is flying in Troops back from Iraq for georgia...

I would love to know how this is "irrelevant" to the situation or not something to be watched from within this thread...

and honestly... as this seems to be expanding rapidly across the region I think the largest fleet in the world showing up within fighting distance is... ummm of some slight importance... particularly as I watch planes taking off

Rentor, know what you mean, it's like a storm of info but each piece of info is going in the opposite direction all at once.

You know all the updaters to this story are doing a great job. So far in the US (American Federal Empire) I have only seen two sound bites about this war. THATS IT! And one I watched during the olypmics when bush was being interviewed. Whats more was that the interview was around 8 to 10 minutes long but on my morning news they only used the 15 second sound bite were bush condemned russia and said that he had spoken with Putin as well as the russian president.

They also said he was leaving the Olympics today.. but they way they presented the information made it sound as if he was leaving in a hurry to deal with the situation rather than the truth of the matter which is that he left on his scheduled vacation time table.

The US media is doing a horrible job. Mind you. I do not have cable. I do not believe in it. Broadcast only or I just use the net. Still as far as the US broadcast news is concerned. This story is less important than Gas prices, Edwards mistresses baby, and the propane tank explosion in Canada.

They have said nearly nothing about this world changing event and so for all of you (That have been providing linked news story updates) I thank you for keeping me up to date where my broadcast news has completely and totaly failed me and my fellow US subjects.

Because, contrary to what they want us to think, the news agencies do not have much better sources than we, only the ones that have people on the ground, and those are limited to the place where they are.
